My husband and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Prior to the trip I pictured us laying on a deserted beach, with the greenest-bluest-clearest water in front of us and the waves washing my stress away. I didn't want to deal with crowded restaurants, hotels, streets or beaches. I didn't want to deal with corporate hotel clerks trying to get me what I reserved. Guess what, all of this is exactly what I got at the Seahorse cottage and on the island of Eleuthera! I am not exaggerating when I say that we saw a total of 10 people on the beaches we visited all week. And the ocean, oh the ocean - you have never seen water so beautiful! And the cherry on top was Kimy and Terry, our hosts at the cottage. Every morning we would ring their bell and they would give us tips of the best beaches, restaurants, sites to visit. And they got it right every time. Nothing can beat that personal touch. My only advice for those thinking of visiting is to get out and explore. We used the kayaks that were provided at the cottage and saw some of the most breathtaking views, along with sea-life, you have ever seen. Can't wait to visit again.

I'm always looking for unique destinations in warm and sunny regions of the world. This year we picked the Island of Eleuthera to visit. We were on somewhat of a tight budget and looking for a nice quaint place to stay on the island. I searched the VRBO website and to my surprise came across the Starfish Cottages. The pictures of the property were right on. The grounds are very clean and the landscaping was pretty. The view to the small harbor is actually more like a cove as the boat traffic was very minimal. There was some added late night noise from the locals due to the Homecoming weekend celebration. This was more of a distraction than an annoyance. We stayed in the 'Seahorse' cottage and found it to be quite comfortable and cozy. We cooked some of our meals in the cottage. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The owners, Terry and Kimy, were always available to answer questions and send us in the right direction for fabulous beaches and great dining (The Front Porch & Tippy's) I would highly recommend the Starfish Cottages if you are looking for a basic, affordable and clean place to stay. We loved the island of Eleuthera and look forward to a return visit in the near future.

This property could not be more inviting. The hosts welcome you like family, the grounds are immaculate and unique, the cabins are incredibly charming and the view breathtakingly beautiful. If you don't leave there completely relaxed, with a new lease on life then you need to extend your stay! A true gem! I cant wait to go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at the Seahorse. The location is ideal. It is great to feel a part of the community. Great privacy yet close to all that the town has to offer. It was our second time on your beautiful property and we look forward to returning again next year. The cottage is well maintained and very clean. We loved kayaking down the coast. Also, we loved the birds in the yard. The property is located within easy driving distance of many superb beaches. Thanks again Kimy and Terry! Greg and Joanne

we had another amazing stay at Edge of the World properties, this time we stayed in the Seahorse cottage. The cottage is a delight, so charming and decorated with local treasures. As always our hosts made our stay as comfortable as possible, they and the island are the reason we keep going back, we have been 3 times and are looking forward to our 4th visit in 2013. I hesitate to tell too many people because part of the beauty of the island is you feel you have it to yourselves along with the locals, who are all lovely friendly people. just remember it's not for everybody,if your expecting a all inclusive resort, its not for you.

My boyfriend and I found these cottages on this sight when searching for a beach vacation and decided to give it a try, knowing nothing about Eleuthera other than what we read from reviews. We are SO GLAD we did. Eleuthera is the perfect private tropical getaway you've always dreamed of and never thought you could have. We are avid snorklers and every single beach has something to offer. There are several beaches with coral reefs a few yards out and very close to the surface, so you don't have to go far to find really amazing underwater sites. On top of that, the island has lots of really beautiful sites, like the glass window bridge and queens baths that you won't find on your normal beach vacation. There's something here for everyone, from the lazy beach bum to the adventurer, you'll never be bored. The seahorse cottage was the PERFECT place to stay. Its got just enough room for two people and all their luggage to fit comfortably, it's adorably decorated, clean, and really will make you feel right at home. Plus the views are incredible and the owners are so sweet. Not to mention hard working! They seem to be always working on the garden and updating the three different cottages. They know everyone on the island and can make suggestions if you're not sure where to start or what to do when you get there the first time. They helped us out right away if we ever had questions or needed anything, but also stayed out of our way and let us have the private romantic adventure we were looking for. When you come, definitely rent a car from Wallace, the island is too big (100 miles though you'd never guess from the small town feel it has) to not have a ride to all the amazing beaches. Check out Daddy Joes, the food, service, and prices were great and theres a beach right across the street from it that has great laying out spots and great snorkeling. If you come during the off season (basically not the winter!) be prepared to feed yourself some. Our only trouble on the island was finding open restaurants. Apparently they were all on vacation too. There's a 7 11 down the road that has what you need, but if you rent a car drive out to bluff on your first day and stock up on food. They have a full sized grocery out there and you'll find everything you need to cook yourself great food in your kitchen all week. Bring bug spray! My one complaint of the whole trip was the bug bites, and I noticed other ladies covered in the too. Must be our lotion.

Watching your happy faces is so rewarding to us as we create all these fun things for you. Please come visit us again. You are always welcome here. Kind regards, Terry and Kimy

We stayed at Seahorse for a week in June. The cottage itself is lovely - perfect for two people. The grounds are lovely as well - lots of greenery and fresh fruit growing on the trees. We also appreciated the access to the water and the kayaks that were available to us whenever we wanted. There is some great snorkeling just off the cove that is easily reached by the kayaks. Kimy and Terry were wonderful and gave us some great tips of things to do on the island. Overall we had an amazing vacation and would recommend these accommodations for sure!

My husband and I decided to take a last-minute trip, since our daughter was away visiting family. We wanted someone that was not overrun with tourism and we could adventure on our own. We couldn't have picked a better place. Although we were only there a few days, we adventured as much as we could by foot, kayak, hitchhiking and swimming. Kimy and Terry were involved in our stay as much as we wanted them to, but also let us enjoy our time alone. We stayed in the Tamarind Tree and Starfish. Each had anything and everything we could have possibly needed, from cookware, microwave, stove to extra beach towels, in case you had forgotten yours. Previous guests have left cards, books, etc. We swam daily in the cove and used the kayaks provided by Kimy and Terry. Gergory Town is a quaint town with a local bar, groceries, gift shop, and several places to eat. We decided to eat only local food, which is what we prefer on trips, and we were not disappointed. Coincidentally, the Pineapple Festival (an annual event in Gregory Town) was held the week we were there, and it was a great time, with music, food, and celebration. I could go on and on, but you will have to see for yourself. If you are looking for unspoiled, beautiful location where you can definitely detach, this is the place for you. Oh, they also provide free wifi and local and long distance calls, if needed. Go see for yourself what I am raving about !!

I want to start by saying this is not a place to stay if you are looking for pampering. And if you have a problem walkijg. But it was just what the doctor ordered for us. My BFF of 35 years and I travel at least once a year together. We are already planning a return trip. This was a rare find, The Beach cottage "Seahorse" MY FAVORITE OF THE 3 they rent, has everything you could need. Very good for 2, no more The only thing I did not like was the bugs. Bring anything you can to keep them off you. Other than that we had Wi Fi and A/C a great kitchen to cook in. We went everyday to fill our cooler at the gas station across from the 7/11 the gal there is a wonderful person helped us out alot.I loved taking a shower in the outside shower. You have lots to look at the owners Terry and Kimy are so wonderful. They are always around if you need something, or have a question. The property is well kept. Beautiful flowers and plants. The bed was very comfy. I love sleeping hearing the tree frogs and roasters and hear the ocean. There is not a beach in front of the place but you can get in the water and go out on a kayak that they provide. I must say for snorkling you have go to Rainbow beach. If the Laughing Lizard Resturant is open it is a wonderful lunch spot. We had such a great time in Gregorytown. I would tell you this is a great place to stay for young couples on a budget. Bring beachtowels and spices for cooking, snacks are good to have.Other than that ,beer and hard liquor are not anymore really than home. If you smoke $5.00 - $6.00 a pack. Bring a bottle opener, lighter, Candle to keep bugs away are good. Also a great day trip, is Skye Beach, food great and you can use the pool. The beach is much more rough on that side of the island but a nice change. Oh you cannot go wrong here. I love love love it. We did not have a bad meal or one bad thing happen on this trip. The people are friendly and always there to help. You must do a Friday nite at the Fish Fry. Not a ton to do unless you are a beach person, But we found pleanty to entertain us. Big Daddy's is funand good food. The beach across from there is nice to snorkel and shell. Just take what is not alive. NO picking seafans or taking alive things out of the water. It is ok to look. Much to take off the beach. So relaxing to walk on the beach alone noe one is around. Enjoy and hug Terry and Kimy for me.

Thanks so much for an amazing stay. Cottage was great! We had everything we could have wanted, kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We had Internet, lights, fans, hot showers, tiki bar, comfy hammock, good screens, and bug nets. Gorgeously landscaped tranquil property overlooking emerald waters with private dock and kayak. Kimmy and Teri are amazingly welcoming and knowledgeable about island activities. Gregory town is a quiet caribbean settlement with great cliffs, and friendly locals. So many beaches close by and most of the time we were the only people on the beach! Amazing Organic farm stand a few miles south of town is prime for fresh produce. Eleuthera seems to be on the rebound and this property and these folks are at the forefront of the comeback. Good luck with all the exciting renovations to the beautiful property. Sincerely, Noah and Katie Video of our trip coming soon :)
