We stayed at Windymile cabin with our 4 dogs who had a blast running around in the 2.5 acre fenced pasture. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed and the owners are super-helpful. The 360 degree views are really breathtaking and there is no way you can't relax in the peaceful environment that surrounds you... a real gem tucked away just off I-81! We will definitely be going back for a return stay and probably booking the convenient and top-notch Windymile dog kennels, so we can do some daytime sight-seeing in the Lexington area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

What a wonderful time!! We went up to the WindyMile right after a 15mile hike up at 3 ridges and man the cabin was it relaxing. It is a very cozy cabin with a panoramic view of the beautiful mountains of Virginia. I was there with a team of 7 and we all had a place around the cabin to rest our heads and had a wonderful space to eat some good meals. The owner is just as cheerful and extremely knowledgeable of the area. So, take a weekend and and joy a hike and rest you head at the WindyMile.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Windy Mile is a great location. It was really nice to be out in the Virginia countryside with cow and cricket sounds. The full kitchen was very helpful. It even had some condiments and spices available so we didn't have to buy the whole bottle or jar. The owner was hands-off, a positive thing for us. Overall, Windy Mile could use the following improvements: better mattresses, a ledge or counter in the bathroom to put toothbrushes, comb, etc. and more hangers. I would recommend this to anyone. My 92-year old mom even got along just fine in the cabin.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

Very enjoyable stay. Everything was as advertised plus! Very clean and comfortable. It's so peaceful. David mentioned the possibility of fencing an area around the cabin which I think is a great idea! Definitely would go back again.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Windymile cabin. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from the city and relax without interruptions and take in the beauty of nature all around the area. The owners were fast at answering our questions and helpful and friendly during our stay. Our dog stayed at the kennel for a day while we visted the Natural Bridge and was well taken care of and very happy. This is a great place to stay while visiting the Natural Bridge and caverns as well as Goshen Pass. We will definately return in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Good little private experience. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor fireplace and enjoying the evening in front of a good fire. Pretty good views. A bit over priced considering lack of TV/Internet and limited space.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Windymile starts at $125 per night for four people. It offers a full kitchen with a dishwasher, two bedrooms, and is pet friendly ($10 per night per pet). There is no minimum stay requirement, however a 15% service applies to those staying less than two nights. Windymile has the best rates in the area (less expensive than most motel/hotel rooms). A positive aspect of Windymile (in our opinion) is that it has no internet or phone service. You can actually "get away". Windymile does have a TV with a dvd/video library, and there is good cellular coverage in the area. I have refunded the one night 15% service fee to your card. Thanks for staying! -management

Mountain views in the distance, hills and fields surround the cabin. It couldn't be more beautiful and peaceful! Nearest neighbors are cows in the nearby field! Our three greyhounds had the time of their lives in the 2 acre fenced yard. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We spent many hours just sitting out on the patio reading. Lexington has a lot of history but mostly we just wanted to relax so we didn't spend much time there. But we did enjoy our night out at Hull's Drive-In Theater--also pet friendly.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Location: great! View: Awesome! Proprietors: the best. The vacation cabin is nestled far off the main road in an open field with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Whether your fancy is hiking, civil war/Appalachia history, or just a peaceful weekend with that someone special, this cant be beat. I was there during the torrential rains of April 16th. Although it required us to stay indoors for a few hours, the next day was spectacular, especially at Goshen pass !Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My wife and I have lived in the area since 1985. She teaches school, and I am a builder. We live on site. We are avid hiking biking outdoor enthusiasts that would be happy to help you choose your outings while visiting.
Why the Owner Chose Lexington:
I built this Lexington Virginia Cabin in 2010 due to the quiet setting, and the proximity to The Goshen Wildlife management area. The recreational opportunities are without compare. Its proximity to Lexington VA and The VA Horse Center make it an ideal location for a Vacation Destination in the Shenandoah Valley of VA
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and southern Shenandoah Valley in this quiet setting are without equal. It is just two minutes to Goshen Pass, with its swimming, fishing, hiking, and canoeing. It is 6 miles to the Horse center, with no stop lights!
