OVERVIEW

From the moment you pass through the tall stationary Spanish decorative gates into Villa DeLaguna West, you know you are in a unique Villages community of clay tile roofs, gorgeous tropical landscaping, and all Designer Villas.

San Saba Court is an all masonry Designer Villa, finished in stucco and featuring a Spanish-style clay tile roof. SSC is a rock-solid home - not wood framed. It is surrounded by tall concrete courtyard walls for for privacy and a true sense of seclusion.

San Saba Court is called a Designer Villa because of its tile roof, tall vaulted - volume - ceilings, 2-car garage and special features.

SPACIOUS COURTYARD

No one has every come to SSC and not marveled at the size of the painted courtyard. It's gigantic. Our grandkids love it! There's a large L-shaped island cut out of the courtyard. The courtyard features several sets of furniture including two chaise lounges with cushions, a comfy glider. With the uplit palms, the therapeutic Coleman Spa, and the luscious greenery, and the privacy, it really is a tropical setting.

LOCATION TO SPANISH SPRINGS

904 San Saba Court is ideally located. Our 85 year old mothers walked with us from SSC to Spanish Springs Town Square in about 20 minutes. By bike, it might be 10-12 minutes. And by golf cart, under 10 minutes. It's a neat ride or walk through the golf course on the recreation trail.

LOCATION TO HACIENDA CC AND TIERRA DEL SOL CC

We're located just 'around the corner' to Hacienda CC. It's a great course. AndTierra Del Sol, where the professional women's Samsung Tourney of Champions (which Julie Inkster won) was played, it's 7-8 minutes by cart. And to Glenview CC and the Glenview Tennis Club, where there is a tennis racquet-shaped swimming pool, it is under 15 minutes by cart. Well, that's just a few of the courses we're near. By cart, we're 20 minutes from Arnold Palmer, Nancy Lopez, Cain and Mallory Country Clubs. And of course there's a myriad of Executive courses nearby.

PROXIMITY TO SUMPTER LANDING

We'll often get some exercise in by riding our bikes from SSC to Sumpter - 20 minutes by peddling. By golf cart, we are 15 minutes away from Sumpter Landing. We just think that SSC is in the perfect location, easily accessible to everywhere in The Villages.

One of the areas you can be very confident in is how well equipped the kitchen is. We lived at San Saba Court for many years and equipped the kitchen with all of the cooking and baking products that we would want. You just won't find a better equipped kitchen from q salad spinner, to a crock pot, to an English tea set, and on and on. The duct cleaning company said that many of the homes have lots of construction debris, sheet rock dust, etc in the duct work going back to the day the home was built. We heard about this as a possibility and, as a solution, we had all ducts cleaned. For many people with breathing issues, this is an important consideration...morecollapse

The Villa is open and really comfortable. It's tropical. And also warm and inviting. There's vaulted volume ceilings, and with the open floor plan, San Saba Court has a 'big' feel. What many people have really enjoyed as an amenity is the two comfy reclining chairs in front of the TV - His and Hers. The decor, the full china cabinet, the pottery and the framed pictures provides a real sense of being in the comforts of your home, and not in a sparse rental. But the real amenity is not inside the Villa, but in the courtyard! This is where you can be totally private. And no kidding - secluded. This is the spot for morning coffee or tea, and an afternoon cocktail. The courtyard is where you can enjoy a splash in the therapeutic hot tub, where the water is kept at a medium temperature for long wonderful moments of conversation and relaxation. And it gets better at night. There are 10 some palms, many of which are lit. Sometimes it's hard to leave for the fun of Town Square!...morecollapse

You can walk to department stores, gift shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. By golf cart, you're under 10 minute away. Just slip through the golf course on the recreation trail, and you are practically there. Biking is phenomenal. We have two good bikes from a bike shop - no speeds and no hand brakes - and a nice big comfortable seat! The "horse country" of Ocala iand trails s minutes away. The movie theater is walking distance, and if you prefer biking or golf carting it, it's just minutes away. ...morecollapse

The family recently gathered in the Villages to celebrate my parents' birthdays - Mom turned 80 and Dad 87. The outstanding patio was the site of the party, and worked beautifully. The grill, the available seating, the lighting, all contributed to the comfort of the family so we could all focus on each other. The whole villa was very clean, well-stocked, and well-maintained. The Agent was easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to stay in the Villages.

This property is very close to Spanish Springs within walking distance. A short ride by bike to Spanish Springs a little longer to Sumter Landing. We enjoyed our stay there in the month of April. The hot tub was enjoyable and so were the surroundings. The outside was very reminscent of an Italian garden. The ammenities were great we had the use of bikes and a golf cart. The villa is well maintained and you lack for nothing and there is an onsite caretaker close by to assist if needed. I highly recommend this villa for a great vacation in the villages.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1998

About the owner: We're Ron and Nancy Edmunds. We live in cold Duluth, Minnesota Brrrr. What's unique about being from Duluth is that we can travel any month of the year and we can always :) find better weather somewhere else. I'd like say 'just kidding' but it's true! We love Duluth, though. It's beautiful here! We're located right on the 'nose' of Lake Superior. Ever notice that it looks like a wolf's head, with the eye - Madeline Island - and the nose, which is Duluth? We play golf during the summer, spend time at our summer cottage on Island Lake, and lots of time with our five grandkids. That's the best part. During winter when we are not in The Villages, we play tennis at the indoor tennis club, follow Division I hockey - our UMD Bulldogs. Ron was a high school English teacher for eight years. And we bothRon taught school in Taipei Taiwan for two years in the early 1970's. For the last many years, both Ron and Nancy have been in real estate development, developing senior apartment buildings and assisted living apartment buildings in the Duluth area. This has been gratifying work for us, but after coming to know about The Villages' developers with the mind boggling development in The Villages, it's hard to call ourselves developers compared to the Morse Family in The Villages. But that's what we did, and now we are winding down as many people our age do. We currently don't have a dog, but we do love them. We had a fabulous pal and pet for 16 years named Amber - a gorgeous golden retriever. As much as we miss her, we are thinking that at our age, it is just too difficult again with a dog. We are pet lovers, but sorry - we do not allow pets in the Villa. You know, many people have allergies. The instructions on setting up this web site suggested that renters like to know a little about the owners, so while this has been a little uncomfortable to write about ourselves, and I know we rambled a bit, perhaps you have gotten to know us just a little bit better.

Why the Owner Chose Spanish Springs:
We first became acquainted with the Villages in the early 1990's. Our Dad, who had been in real estate since the early 1950's, spent a month in The Villages. He had been looking for years all over the US and Florida for a vacation place to invest in. He could never find any place that 'had it all.' Then he found The Villages. He and my mother invited us to visit them in a courtyard Villa on Chula Vista Golf Course. At that time, the only thing in Spanish Springs was the current sales office and the Town Square Gazebo. Really, that was it. As I recall, I don't believe that Hacienda Golf Course was even built yet. All of the incredible development was, at the time, all to come in the future. We were taken back by all the promise, and in 1998 we bought San Saba Court and have owned it ever since. I guess it took some imagination in 1998 to try to get a vision of the future. But today in retrospect, you need only visit The Villages or check out their web site and it is pretty obvious why we chose this location.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
We currently own two Villas within a couple of blocks from one another in this really unique location. This Villa at San Saba Court is where we started, and it's furnished and equipped as our special personal home would be. At the present time, we just rent out SSC and stay at our other Villa. We mention this because, as a renter on vacation, you are never competing with the owner for the best times in the Villages. We offer SSC for rent all 12 months in the year. We chose this specific location, in part, because it is nearly in the middle between Sumpter Landing Town Square and Spanish Springs Town Square. But more importantly, we chose SSC because it is in a truly unique community known as Villa DeLaguna West. Many of the Villages and communities in The Villages look a lot alike. Not Villa Delaguna West! Right out of chute, you'll notice the large decorative fixed gates, lighting and palms as you enter the winding and inviting roadway into this special community. Then immediately, you will notice that all of the Villas are bigger than most, and all with 2-car garages, but more noticeably - all with Spanish-style red clay tile roofs! No other community in the Villages is like this! The clinching decision to buy 904 San Saba Court in 1998 was the one-of-a kind super private (what other superlatives can we come up with?) courtyard. If total privacy in a total tropical setting, is important to you, then literally, there is no other Courtyard Villa to compare. When we bought our other Villa, which is a little larger to accommodate our big family when they visit, seriously we just could not part with SSC. And whenever we thought about selling SSC, it was ALWAYS the gorgeous private courtyard, with the tall walls, the myriad of uplit palm trees, and the therapeutic spa that was always on our thoughts. All of our renters have enjoyed these features as we did, and we know you will too.
