We recently stayed at the Boathouse cabin and had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We appreciated that the owner was so friendly and accommodating. There are interior stairs going up to that cabin, but we are in our sixties and had no trouble at all making the climb. The Boathouse has an exceptionally comfortable bed--best sleep in years!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have been going to Juneau each summer (to fish) for several years and have been staying here for the past 4 (or 5?) years in a row and I have nothing but great things to say. An amazing view, a very comfortable living space which truly feels like home away from home. As if that weren't enough, the hosts are so nice they seem like family. They really take good care of the property and make sure their guests are happy. We have searched out our options in Juneau thoroughly and believe me there just isn't anything equal to the beach cabin!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

When visiting Juneau, this is the place to stay!! Very clean property. Friendly owners. Very helpful for suggestions on what to see and do in Juneau. Great friendly neighbors. Comfortable and clean establishment. We would suggest that a vehicle be rented at the airport in order to properly appreciate Juneau and the surrounding area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Not our first Canadian visitors, however it seems so far the most fun french canadians ever. Happy our guests greatly enjoyed themselves. They seemed to do everything first class, including all the best activities, dog sled tours and glacier guided tours. I love to see people come from so far and take advantage of things to do and see then take back with them the best memories.

Really enjoyed having the beach so accessible! We brought our 84 yr old Grandma along (she was just 16 when she first came to Juneau) She said it changed like everything but Indian Cove broght tears to her eyes. We found aI treasures to take home! Grand views and very comfortable bed. Kitchen was super clean and modern, so cooked and ate out rest of the time. We will be back with our Grandchildren we hope someday. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. Audrey and gangDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Arrived late but no problem for our gracious hosts. We woke up to this incredible view. A pod of killer whales entertained us while we had coffee outside. We were glad we had brought warm layers as the weather changed often, some rainy days some sunny. Really appreciate the details at the Alaska Beach cabin, even the art is thoughtful and quality. Alaska Beach cabin is a rare gem for all its amenities. We will be back someday.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We (3-person mobile training team) spend about 15-20 weeks a year in hotels around the country. This was chosen specifically as a 'change of pace'. The owner's welcomed us and gave us a brief tour of the place and we were settled-in within minutes. The furnishings, rooms and kitchen areas were clean and contemporary. The view of Auke bay was fantastic and we even got a glimpse of the sea life and some eagles. We had plenty of opportunities to cook meals, walk and watch the sunsets. The only other reasonable lodging options in Juneau were motels and hotels that offered smokey rooms and no views. The owner's barking dogs weren't a problem for us, but might pose a problems for others. The same goes for the clicking sounds created when the heat came on during the night. Overall we were extremely happy with the experience and will try to return in future trips.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your comments. we strive to make our guests comfortable as possible, the Dock SIde room is usually rented to families for overflow, it is a little less quiet during the winter months as the pipes take longer to heat. During the summer this is a non problem. Our yorkies will now and again get territorial if another dog is in there space, this does not happen that often. We want to thank our Coast Guard friends for there stay with us and welcome them back.

This was an excellent choice for our stay. We normally stay in "Chain" hotels due to our travel and this was a great change of venue. The view out the back is incredible. The hosts were more than helpful and hospitable. Two of my co-workers stayed in the two bedroom suite where we all congregated for meals and utilized the back deck to relax at the end of the day. I stayed in the one bedroom suite above the boat house which provided ample privacy, full kitchen ammeneties with a dual hot plate (used the stove downstairs). The scenery is incredible; the weather could not have been better for the time of year. I highly reccommend staying here versus one of the hotels in town. It's more relaxed and definitely more updated.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: These were some great guys (3) that stayed at the Alaska Beach Cabin, They rented the Captains Quarters with the full kitchen, with adjoining room twin suite, and the Boat House Cottage with the kitchenette, that way everyone had there own space. We especially appreciate the "Coasties" as they serve those in peril at the risk of there own lives. Welcome back anytime and hope you bring your sweethearts with you. Great regards, Pamela

This is a great location, right on the water with a beautiful view! It is in the middle of a small bay and has access to the water for kayaking and you can walk down the shoreline to explore. The owners live in the main house above and are helpful if you need anything. It is very quiet and relaxing. The decor is very nice and has a homey feeling, makes you not want to leave. If you are going to Juneau,I recommend this as the place to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you, your appreciation for the details that make this property special was worth all the hard work to make it that way. I do hope you will get to come back again and have rhubarb pie (it was not in season when you were here. You must come in the fall for the Indian Summer.

About the owner: My Grandparents first came to Alaska in 1940. I was born and raised on a homestead in Fairbanks. We are now 5th generation and going strong. I was blessed to meet and marry my soul mate and we raised two handsome sons. We have lived all over the state and have had some extraordinary experiences from Nome Alaska to the interior and now settled in the Rainforest, South East Alaska. Its a good life gardening, writing, sewing, cooking, sometimes boating and fishing too. We enjoy sharing good things with friends new and old. Best of all we love to travel and meet people from around the world, but we also get to do that right here at the Alaska Beach Cabin.
Why the Owner Chose Juneau:
Juneau and surrounding areas have all the best Alaska offers. The pristine channels of the Inside passage, white capped mountains and rainforest beauty are unique to Southeast Alaska. Its a history that made the lives of pioneers an example of prosperity and grit. Juneau is the gateway to the Gold Rush and all the beauty in the State is in many forms in this area. I have lived and traveled all through this great State and always wanted to end up in Southeast Alaska. Juneau has often been described as ' a little city in the Alps'with the snow capped mountains and tram rides up to Mt Roberts. The wildlife is amazing with the bears and whales, sea lions and otters. Fishing is world renown as are the Glaciers, but mostly its about the welcome mat for all the visitors from around the world.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Whale watching while enjoying your uninhibited view of the channels. The cove has a resident sea lion named Waldo. He tries to steal fresh caught fish by almost climbing in the skiff. There are usually a pair of Eagles (they mate for life) and stay with in an area for years renesting and raising their young. We have Eagles that hunt and feed on the shore. A wonderful cove, set your kayak right on the beachfront. Sunsets and even rainstorms are engaging to watch from the comfort of your cabin. The best coastal trail is within walking distance of the Cabin and cottage. Auke Rec has log shelters with rock fireplaces to enjoy. They are great to take shelter in and watch the view, picnic or have a beach fire. Reserve a gourmet meal prepared to order. Other homemade pastry available like pies and muffins, cookies and cupcakes. For that special occasion, wine and chocolate lovers baskets available. Weddings are a unique and wonderful setting here. Small and charming with picture taking opportunities. Fishing is everywhere. Boating charters are within 1 mile. There are tours to Glacier Bay nearby. This Destination could not be better.
