We have been to Hawaii several times but had never stayed in Kailua and this was first time renting a place this way for a vacation. We were not disappointed in the least; my husband & I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and spent 12 wonderful days in Amanda's 1 bedroom suite. The pictures on this site show the suite accurately and it was perfect for the 2 of us. Amanda & family were the most gracious hosts; we particularly liked having Narada (their dog) greet us every day - thanks again for letting us walk him! And seeing Amanda's sons come and go was just like being at home for us. The location is great in a quiet residential area, close to the beach (walk); we did have a rental car that was handy to get to nearby downtown Kailua and other points of interest around the island. We will definately be going back to Kailua and will be renting this suite again!

Our family stayed at Amanda's relaxing getaway the week before Christmas. The condo was exactly how it was pictured and was a perfect size for our family of four (children ages 7 and 14). The living space was spotless and very well maintained. Amanda was a gracious hostess and provided us with answers to any of our touristy questions. My husband and I really appreciated how quite the neighborhood was and how close the beach was for our children. Having a computer, boggie boards, and snorkeling equipment available was a big plus. It was nice being away from Waikiki and all its hustle and bustle. If you travel up the North Shore be sure to visit Tita's Grill for a wonderful plate of garlic shrimp! Also, drop off laundry services are ourstanding at Waimanalo, near the Texaco Station.

We just returned from 8 lovely days in Kailua. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants all the comforts of home and to mingle with the local Hawaiians. The suite was as nice as these photos reflect. We found the Farmer's market in downtown Kailua on our first night (Thursdays from 5pm to 7:30pm). It was a nice way to sample local foods and produce. Amanda and her family were terrific hosts and were helpful in every way. The location was great for driving to all areas of the island. We also enjoyed the short walk to the beach with the beach towels and chairs provided. We were thrilled with having the computer/internet at our disposal. It was nice not to return home to a ton of e-mails to sift through. We are already considering another stay here next year.

Staying in Kailua is one of Oahu's best kept secrets, and I highly recommend Amanda's Pualani suite as an ideal home base for all your island exploring. The rental is exactly as described - clean, well-kept, and incredibly close to Kailua Beach. Every beach on Oahu is different and has its own merits, but Kailua Beach gets my #1 vote every time. I thoroughly enjoyed the daily routine of visiting parts of Oahu in the morning, and then winding my way back to Kailua Beach for the afternoon. The amazing thing about Kailua Beach is that it's an enormous beach with very few tourists. Listening to the surf break at Kailua Beach is one of the most relaxing experiences I can recommend in all of Oahu. Lanikai Beach is nearby and is beautiful with its pristine white sand and calmer waters than Kailua Beach. I highly recommend a sunrise hike of Kaiwa Ridge which overlooks Lanikai Beach. The WWII pillboxes make the perfect perch to watch the sunrise. Be prepared, however - the "trail" requires shoes with good traction. Makapu'u Point is also a very good hike that is close by. The view of the ocean and shoreline all the way up to Kane'ohe is fantastic. If you're looking for real R&R, then the town of Kailua is just what you need - a wonderful break from the hectic atmosphere of Honolulu and Waikiki. Don't miss Lanikai Juice Company. The bowls and smoothies are addictive! Renting a car is the best way to get around Oahu, and the drive on the Pali Highway from Kailua into Honolulu through the Ko'olau Mountains is stunning - not to be missed. Do make note that the rental is on the first floor. There is another, larger rental above the Pualani suite. I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Pualani suite and will definitely return for future excursions in Oahu!

We stayed in this rental after we wanted to extend our stay in another of Amanda's B and B but it was pre-booked (#252574). However this was just as comfortable and well fitted out. This unit is downstairs and very cool in the middle of Summer. While we are a couple we are thinking of coming back here next year with our best friends as there is room for an couple in the fold out double bed in the living area. The kitchen has a large sized oven, a rarity in such rentals we've found. Also this unit is more casual than the other one we stayed in, has that holiday beach atmosphere, but still very clean and fresh. Computers in both of the units we stayed in with internet access was a pleasant surprise and enabled us to economically to keep in contact with our family back in Australia. Once again the owner was only to pleased to help in any way, quiet location 2 minutes from the beach, great facilities, clean and everything worked, close to Kailua township. We've booked this unit again for next year, and may bring our best friends as there is fold-out double bed in the living area. We would recommend to anyone!

This rental photographs well, but it is so much more spacious and beautiful when you step into it. We were thrilled with the amenities like the top of the line contemporary kitchenette, which we used every day to make breakfast and to reheat mouthwatering leftover ribs from the nearby Buzz's Steakhouse and Alan Wong's Mahi Mahi tasted just as good a day after. Did I mention the nice sink big enough to wash a baby in? We used the computer provided to serch the web for directions and never even took ours out of the bag! The bed was heavenly, the bathroom with "hers and his" sinks was luxurious and the fan/AC always worked impeccably. A short walk to the most beautiful beach on Oahu just made us love life. The best part though was our hostess -- one of the nicest, most gracious people we've ever met. Thank you for making our stay so much better then what we expected!

My friend and I stayed here at the end of June of this year. It was my first time visiting the island and this was a perfect stay. It is right in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. Also if we wanted to stay home and have a beach day it's a 2 minute walk to a beautiful beach. There were beach toys and chairs there for us to use. The house is a studio so it is all one space, but it is very clean and nice. They have a computer with internet which was fabulous! I really enjoyed staying here. If I were to go back, I would definitely stay here again! Thanks Amanda!

The downstair appartment is a great choice for vacations in Kailua. It is nicely decorated (love the curtains),fresh and well equipped. We had everything that was needed for our vacations.Beach chairs and bodyboards were available. It made our stay at the beach more pleasant. We loved the neighborhood and being so closed to the beach (beautiful beaches of Kailua). Amanda and her family were available, helpful and most importantly welcoming. The whole family had a wonderful stay and we'll be back in a few years. Thank you !!

Amanda's was a great place to stay, I would love to stay here again if i return to hawaii. It is a short walk from the best beach I saw in three week trip to Hawaii. The bed was the most comfortable bed i think I ever slept in.

Amanda, your place was perfection! It was so clean, equipped and convenient. We love Kailua, and staying at your place just reminded us again why! The walk to the beach was easy and relaxing, and we loved spending time with your son and the dog! We will definately keep your place in mind the next time we plan to visit Oahu. Thank you so much for the lovely accomodations and your warm hospitality. Mahalo!

This is a cute little place in a very quiet neighborhood for a couple just wanting to relax. Loved waking up to the birds singing outside the bedroom window. The added feature of having the use of a computer came in more handy than we had expected, nice touch! Amanda keeps the place very clean and everything was in working order, which was nice. Thanks again Amanda.

The little downstairs apartment always stayed nice and cool and comfortable. The kitchen featured all the essentials for people that like to cook their own food. The distance to the amazing beach was just right ( out of the direct ocean breeze and away from all the onlookers). Our hosts were always very accomodating and helpful with any questions or requests that we had. Our choice of living quarters could not have been better. We really, really liked Kailua with its great environs and quaint little downtown. But all in all our staying with Amanda & Co was the very highlight of our vacation, we really enjoyed our little hideaway. If we ever want to spend more time on Oahu we would definitely book this place again in a heartbeat.
