We spent a 10 day vacation in Berlin at this flat. It is the ideal vacation rental, period. Read all the previous recommendations and you will see that they are all consistent with their praise and rightfully so. The flat is shining bright clean, spacious and decorated with fine taste. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen (with coffee, tea, a bottle of wine), WIFI, a bookshelf with Berlin travel guides, novels, DVDs. There is ample closet and shelf space and the bed is super comfortable. In short, the perfect place to stay. As far as the walk up goes, as stated by other reviewers, look at it as an opportunity for some daily exercise. It is well worth it. In terms of location, the U Bahn subway and tram are within a 5 minute walk making it easy to get to any location in the city. There is a large variety of restaurants right down the street and more within a short walk. Prenzlauerberg is a fun neighborhood. The supermarket, open from 8:00 to midnight, is a two minute walk to get to. Fiona is the perfect hostess and totally non intrusive. She is both accommodating and responsive and we are very grateful to have been able to stay at her place. We have stayed at various vacation rentals and none can compare to this one. One final note - please ignore the guest nickname.

I stayed here for a week of very cold, foggy and grey Berlin and couldn't have been happier. It's a terrific apartment (the photos don't do full justice to the size of the space) - incredibly clean, attractively laid out, newly designed and in a great part of the city with immediate access to markets, cafes, bookstores and the U Bahn. Fiona was really helpful in terms of meeting and greeting, offering to help with practical issues like how to book a taxi and generally was a great but not intrusive host. I almost hate giving it such a good review as it might diminish my chances of booking it again next year! If you go make sure to look out the Heroes of Coffee at the end of Oderbergstrasse, Krone (which is halfway down on the left) and generally explore the neighborhood. It's a great place to be.

This apartment is owned by a lady of great taste. It is beautifully appointed and furnished. Excellent location in a quiet neighborhood with a nice mix of residential, small shops and restaurants. Close to public transportation. My wife and I stayed two weeks and we highly recommend it.

We stayed in Berlin for a week not seeing everything it has to offer. Coming back to the apartment every evening after a long day of sight seeing, dining and shopping was like coming home. The property's description is precise. The owner is a fantastic host, even arranging a taxi to the airport. I travel for business routinely. From the booking to our departure, it couldn't have been any easier. There are plenty of interesting restaurants a super market and nearby subway entrance within minutes. We whole heartedly recommend staying here.

We wanted to see the "new" Berlin AND live in a comfortable affordable apartment in a wonderful area. Fiona's flat in Prenzlauer Berg fulfilled both of our wishes more than we could have hoped! The location and the amazingly comfortable, spotlessly clean, well-appointed and roomy flat (loved the high ceilings and large windows) were top rate. We are VRBO "junkies" and found this accommodation to be at the top of our MUST REtURN list! The 3 flights of stairs mentioned in other reviews were viewed as another work-out opportunity and not a problem. The free phoning to landlines in the States was a most unusual and fabulous amenity.

I truly enjoyed staying in Fiona's flat during my one week in Berlin. The place is so big and nicely furnished. Fiona has been very thoughtful with detail, with all the mod. cons. and the sort of things one would want to have on holiday including a sewing kit! The neighborhood is so cool with multiple restaurants, fun vintage stores and a big super market just one short block from the flat. Fiona was so pleasant and helpful and she brought me a lovely bouquet of flowers to welcome me during my first visit to Berlin. I loved this neighborhood and staying at her flat made my visit really delightful. Those wishing to rent apartments on this site should model what Fiona has done. Excellent job Fiona!!!!!

It’s hard to imagine a better location for a Berlin apartment than the Oderberger Strasse address of this renovated one-bedroom in the trendy Prenzlauer Berg district. It’s located on one of the best preserved streets in the area, with charming buildings, cafés and boutiques, (although, as it happens, it was undergoing roadwork at the time of our visit, but this is surely temporary). It’s within a stone’s throw of interesting sites such as remaining sections of the Berlin Wall, and a popular Sunday flea market at Mauerpark. The neighbourhood has a great selection of restaurants and shopping, all within easy walking distance. And it’s close to public transit, for an easy commute to other parts of Berlin. The apartment itself is spacious, clean, attractively furnished and well-equipped. My husband was pleased with the Wi-Fi and we appreciated extras such as the washing machine. Since we value heritage buildings, we enjoyed the character of this renovated building, with its wide wood floors and high windows. You first enter a building facing the street and then pass through an inner courtyard, to reach the doorway leading to the apartment. This makes it a quiet oasis. Since it’s on the third floor, that initial climb up the stairs can be daunting unless you remember to pack lightly. However, once you’ve arrived, the stairs become an easy part of your daily exercise. The owner, Fiona, is very hospitable and helpful. In addition to providing a printed guide with her suggestions for local sightseeing, restaurants and public transit, she encouraged us to contact her by email or phone with any questions or requests we might have. When we mentioned that we would need to leave very early on a Sunday morning, she immediately offered to line up a taxi for us, an offer we gratefully accepted. Should we ever return to Berlin, we would definitely choose to stay in this apartment again. We’ll be recommending it to our friends.

This is a most comfortable and spacious apartment, beautifully appointed, in an area bustling with activity and places to eat. Our communications with Fiona were straight-forward and she was very welcoming with lovely touches of wine and flowers on our arrival. Abundant information on Berlin and its attractions are provided in the apartment. Among the many highlights of Berlin we particularly enjoyed the Pergamon and Naturkunde museums. We made use of the nearby Berlin on Bike hire (based in the nearby Kulturbrauerei) at first with a group tour, which gave an overview of the city, its history and political institutions, and then later for our own explorations. Berlin is a great city for travelling around on bicycles. For those who prefer public transport, the apartment is well serviced by nearby trains and trams. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Berlin. Thank-you, Fiona, for providing a wonderful apartment.

What a lovely place for our first trip to Berlin! Spacious, very comfortable, decorated with style, immaculate, a superbly equipped kitchen, generous supplies including a bottle of wine, coffee, milk, orange juice, laundry detergent, shampoo etc, located in a vital, young neighbourhood. Fiona is a marvelous hostess. When I had a bit of an allergic reaction to the lovely goosedown pillows, Fiona immediately went out and bought us some synthetic ones .More than we expected. Linder's Delicatessen, the Kollwitz Platz Saturday market, Si An (Vietnamese) were our favourites for food, though choices were enormous. Cafes galore. Also Rewe supermarket is only a block away and is open to all hours. Very quiet at night. There was some roadwork going on in front of the apartment, but silence, as the apartment is behind a courtyard. Yes, we would have loved an elevator, but it was good for us to climb to the second floor (European)/third floor (Canadian)every day. Eberswalder Platz u-bahn was handy access to public transportation. There are also trams. And the best currywurst in town is on the way to u-bahn. Next time we stay at this apartment, we'll get to more concerts, museums and historic sights, now that we have the hang of it. One week in Berlin is not long enough. The photos and description were accurate, but it was even better than it looked online. And we would certainly recommend this apartment.

This flat was a perfect fit for our visit to Berlin. The neighborhood is quiet and cute. Taxis get you everywhere you need to be. Good food nearby. The supermarket is close too. The apartment's high ceilings really make it feel different than most flats you would find. And the owner really takes good care of the apartment and of you once you're in it.

My husband and I stayed in this spacious and comfortable apartment for almost 2 weeks. This gem of an apartment is super-clean and well-decorated. We appreciated all the amenities of wi-fi access, cable TV, and a well-equipped kitchen. There was a good selection of CDs, DVDs, and reading material. The list of thoughtful gestures by Fiona, the owner just goes on and on. The bonus of this apartment is that it's located in Prenzlauer-Berg, an interesting and lovely neighbourhood that has interesting buildings, shops and restaurants, children's parks and Farmer's markets (Thurs.& Sat). According to a local Berliner, this up and coming neighbourhood has a lot of young families with babies, hence (for English-speakers) it's also been dubbed "Pramlauer-Berg" . Taking the metro from this location to visit all the wonderful museums, historical spots and for taking in a performance by the Berlin Philharmonic is easy and convenient. We took a side trip to Dresden and were so happy to be returning to this apartment (our home base). We agree with Kathryn in San Diego -- we'd rather stay in Prenzlauer-Berg than in any other area in Berlin. This apartment helped make our vist to Berlin a fabulous experience. We're hoping to return!

We only had a few days here, but this perfect apartment allowed us to feel as though we were truly Berliners! Fiona is the perfect host. She is charming, organized, and so helpful with any question or need. The apartment is beautifully appointed and she has thought of everything. The apartment is spacious and quiet with a lovely view in the dining and living area. The kitchen is new and well-appointed and there is a nice music system and flat screen TV. The flat is very clean and has a nice mix of old world charm with all of the contemporary conveniences. The neighborhood has a unique energy with wonderful restaurants nearby and easy access to anywhere in the city through nearby tram and U-bahn stops. For those interested in new music, the record store across the street is a must. We were sad to leave our special place in Berlin and would love to come back to this apartment.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for eight days at the end of September 2011. It was beautifully appointed and everything worked - we couldn't fault it. We appreciated the classical music station to which the radio was tuned. When we hired bikes for 24 hours there was even a bike room in which to store them overnight. The area is lovely and public transport is nearby and efficient to all parts of the city. A supermarket is just a few steps away from the apartment. Fiona was a charming and helpful host. We tried some of her restaurant recommendations and enjoyed them. Sunday brunch at Anna Blume was a highlight. We thoroughly agree with the comments in the review by Kathryn from San Diego.

My husband and I are near the end of our first trip to Berlin (12 days), and we are so happy that we chose to stay in Fiona's apartment. It's an excellent apartment in a great location. The apartment itself is very pretty (polished pine floors, stylish but comfortable furniture, large windows, nice splashes of accent color), extremely clean, very well-equipped (the kitchen, though small, is very functional, with high-quality cookware), and quite comfy (great bed! We didn’t use the sofa bed, but as a sofa it’s very comfortable, too). There is a good-sized tv, and the wireless and phone worked perfectly. Even though there was construction in our street while we were here, the apartment was quiet, since it’s not otherwise a busy street and the sitting room windows face a small courtyard, while the bedroom windows face another apartment building. Fiona is an excellent host, welcoming us warmly, helping us carry our luggage up and down the stairs, giving us tips about the area, and arranging for a taxi to the airport when we leave. (Though we are far from young, the lack of an elevator didn’t bother us much – each flight of stairs is fairly short -- but those with mobility issues could not stay here.) The neighborhood is just great. We would rather stay in Prenzlauer-Berg than any other area we saw on this trip. It’s a leafy, cobblestoned neighborhood just a bit northeast of the center, with good transportation links (especially the M1 tram and the #2 U-Bahn) making it easy and fast to get to most other areas of the city. This is a fairly recently gentrified area, with some unrestored buildings around and the ubiquitous graffiti (which here doesn't signify "gang" in the way it does in the States), but the neighborhood feels very calm and safe; I didn't hesitate to walk on these streets by myself at night. This is where we would live if we moved to Berlin. There are good food and wine shops, a great farmers’ market, and good restaurants nearby. Cafes are everywhere. Our first weekend we were struck by how relaxed the area is, with what seemed like the entire population hanging out at cafes, riding bikes, strolling with their children. (This is a very kid-friendly neighborhood, even though it’s a hip adult one, too.) We loved it. We have stayed in many VRBO-type rentals in several countries over the years, and this one is among the very best. We hope to return to Berlin soon, and we will certainly try to stay here again!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Berlin. The apartment is quite comfortable and very well-equipped. We had everything we needed and more. The bedroom is large and quiet, with a clean and comfortable bed, and the bathroom is clean and modern. The kitchen is also quite modern and had everything we needed. The neighborhood can't be beat - great little restaurants everywhere and lots of life. Check in and check out were also a snap and there is a binder with good recommendations and helpful information.
