My husband and I spent a week in the carriage house for our honeymoon. The accommodations were exactly as they appear in the photos and completely clean. We were very happy to be on a quiet, wooded residential street. The carriage house is set away from the main house just enough to feel perfectly private, and its perch above the garage makes it feel like a treehouse! This was the perfect spot for a couple who would like to cook for themselves and have flexibility with meals. The kitchen was adequately equipped for us to cook a variety of meals. Overall, we were very comfortable (soft towels, soft sheets, comfy bed!) and glad to be in a rental that did not allow pets or smoking. In terms of activities, there is a trailhead for a great moderate hike (Flying Mountain and Valley Peak) with some lovely views a very short walk from the house. The national park really is everywhere, and we never felt like we were on the "other side." The carriage house is a very short distance to Southwest Harbor and a quick drive to Bar Harbor. Debbie was easy to contact, pleasant, and professional. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future!

This carriage house couldn't have been more beautiful. My husband and I stayed here for a few nights recently, and our stay was so very pleasant. Everything you will need is here in Southwest Harbor. It is away from the busy Bar Harbor but very close to it, so you can sight-see without driving too far. Acadia National Park is within walking distance of this carriage house. In fact, Acadia is everywhere here. This rental is stocked with everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen, fully equipped bathroom. There was nothing lacking in this tasteful carriage house. Pleasant deck on which to have morning coffee and watch the birds and listen to the nearby babbling brook. WiFi available, beautifully decorated but not fussy, so the husbands will like it too. Working with the owner on rental was problem free, everything went so smoothly. This carriage house made our vacation one to remember and it will be the first place we contact when we want to return, and we will return! Southwest Harbor is very quiet, a small town with restaurants, shops, a drugstore, and I found a beauty salon which does it all. I loved this carriage house, and I think you will too. This owner thought of everything a person might need, and then some. This place is perfect. We arrived to a cute vase of freshly picked flowers that came from owner's garden. What a sweet touch that was! There were board games stored on the shelves, wine glasses, ice in the freezer, plentiful, fluffy towels. The bed was so comfortable and cozy. Everything is top notch at the Carriage House. Don't worry that you will be too far "away from it all" by staying here - you aren't, but it feels like you are.

We truly enjoyed our stay in the Carriage House and Southwest Harbor. The Carriage House is everything described in the listing and much more. A well appointed, cozy, clean property with everything you would possibly need for a comfortable stay. The location is a beautiful wooded area that gives you a feeling of seclusion yet was convenient to everything the area has to offier. Debbie was friendly, helpful and very easy to work with. If you desire a charming, safe, quiet and convenient home away from home; this would be the place to stay. I hope to return to Maine and the Carriage House for a longer stay one day!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Carriage House and couldn't have been more pleased. We felt totally secure in this secluded wooded area of Southwest Harbor. Debbie was very friendly and helpful but also respected our privacy. The pictures posted do not do justice to the exposed beam loft apartment. We found it to be tastefully furnished, well stocked, and very clean. It provided a perfect jumping off point to many wonderful days of biking, hiking, and kayaking. We usually cooked our breakfast there and dined out for the main meals. My wife had lobster 6 out of 7 days! Try Seafood Ketch in Bass Harbor. Don't forget to check out the lighthouse in Bass Harbor, too. If you make it to Jordan's Pond House for popovers, make it a point to hike to Bubble Rock afterward to work off those calories!! We rented our hybrid bikes and trunk carrier (a must) from Southwest Cycles which enabled us to bike on Swan's Island via ferry (way cool!) and cycle on a myriad of carriage trails in Acadia. If you have the time consider biking (or driving) at Schoodic Point near Winter Harbor across Frenchmans Bay from Bar Harbor. The crashing waves on the rocky coastline were incredible! There is a one way road through the park with only an occasional car. We were fortunate also to see a huge bald eagle there! Coming back on the occasional wet day was a warm and cozy experience. You will have to look hard to find a better place to stay, regardless of price, which, by the way, was very affordable.

My husband and I stayed here last week and quickly fell in love with the location and this beautiful carriage house! Debbie's carriage house is decorated beautifully and immaculately clean. The linens were all spotless and new looking. The briny smell of the ocean combined with the scent of the woods drifts in over you from the nearby shore. The carriage house itself has a wonderful scent of cedar from all the exposed wood in the post and beam interior. The warmth of the exposed wood is enhanced by her warm, bright color choices throughout the home. My husband loves to cook and we enjoyed wine and dinner many nights on the small balcony off the living room looking out at the woods. For three days our car didn't even leave the driveway as we walked to the nearby Flying Mountain trailhead for an all day hike, biked on the Western Mountain Fire Road to Echo Lake, and walked to Valley Cove for a day at the beach. What a wonderful home in a beautiful location! We can't wait to return!

I would recommend it without any hesitation to everybody who enjoys peace and quiet. The forest around is beautiful and the house is decorated with taste and goes so well with the decor outside. It is very well located, close to many trails of Acadia park and also to services. And I prefer much this neighborhood than in Bar Harbor.

We spent 5 nights at this carriage house and wished we had stayed longer. The place was very clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. The vaulted post and beam ceilings give it a very spacious and open feeling. It's nicely decorated and the windows of the house look out onto woods and beautiful gardens. The surrounding grounds are very peaceful and well lit at night. Our host, Debbie, was available for questions and provided helpful tips on Acadia and the surrounding towns and attractions. The town of Southwest Harbor is close by and has a variety of restaurants and shops. There is a grocery store less than a mile away. We visited Acadia and Bar Harbor and after a day of hiking or biking we were happy to return to the quiet side of the island. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this Carriage House.

We would highly recommend this carriage house to anyone like us: a small family who wants to be in a lodging that matches the natural beauty of the island. We loved being close to Southwest Harbor, but on a secluded lot that was surrounded by trees. What a perfect place to begin and end each day that we filled with excursions of hiking, biking and exploring!

We stayed at the Carriage House for only 3 short nights and wanted so badly to stay longer. Easy access to the park, hiking trails, and all the Harbors. Loved being outside of the tourist area and close to the quaint village of Southwest Harbor. The carriage house is affordably priced, tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped. Easy to work with owner. Loved our stay and hope to return.

Great home with lots of charm located on the quiet side (less tourists) of Mt. Desert Island. Acadia National Park is a short walk down the road. The Carriage House was clean, well stocked and comfortable. It is 1 bedroom with a futon in the living room area which would work for 1 teenage child and maybe 1 younger child. Overall you could have 2 people comfortably, 3 ok and possibly 4 if they weren't too big. Debbie met us the day we arrived and was available to answer any questions if they came up during our stay. There is a grocery store very close by which is well-stocked as well as restaurants in Southwest Harbor. Bar Harbor is a short 15 minute drive and has many more restaurants. We really enjoyed the peaceful quality of the location of this house. It reminded us of our house in the woods in Washington State. The weather was a great escape from the heat and humidity of Georgia (where we currently live). We would recommend this home to anyone. Thanks Debbie!

We stayed for a week and enjoyed the look and utility of the carriage house. Our every need was anticipated and met with a charming practicality. The location, setting and aesthetics reflect a wise practicality and a subtle artistry that makes for an unpretentious, yet lovely and comfortable environment for a vacation or a getaway. I hope to return next summer. Thanks for a wonderful week.

My wife and I stayed here at beginning of June. We loved it. This place is secluded and quiet. It is just a 15-20 minute drive to Bar Harbor. The Carriage house is beautiful inside and out. We walked into Southwest Harbor each night for dinner. Hiking trails into Acadia Park are literally a 5 minute walk away from the house. The owner was pleasant, attentive, informative and, in general, very helpful. When we return to Maine, we are definitely staying here again!

The Carriage House at Fernald Point Road is a great place to stay! The well constructed post and beam apartment nestled quietly in the Maine spruce and cedar grove at your place provided us a wonderful respite from an otherwise hectic pace. I truly appreciate your hospitality and the restful space. As a builder, I am duly impressed that your hand in the design and appointments came together so well affording an aesthetically pleasant retreat. As much as we enjoy the island and all its tourist attractions, it was so nice to find your hide-away carriage house. Being a short walk from the ocean and the village was an added benefit that we enjoyed. We wish you the best as you continue to offer this place to other weary travelers!

Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway or want an outdoor active week or two with a friend, the Carriage House is where you want to be. It is ideally located smack dab in the middle of where the mountains meet the sea. The Carriage House was only built a few years ago so you can still smell the fresh wood while feeling like you are in a luxury loft cabin. There are even fresh linens in the cedar chest in the living room to enjoy a comfortable sleep on the futon if one bed isn’t enough for your group. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the nicest place I will have ever lived. I was lucky enough to be there for a whole summer but would go back for a vacation in a heartbeat to get my fix of picturesque living.

"I had the fortunate experience of renting this carriage house all summer, and it is truly the most charming place I have ever been able to call home. The location could not be more perfect. The street is quiet and wooded. You have the park practically in your backyard, with countless trails and coves just a minute's walk away. The apartment has so much character: beautiful woodwork, a very cozy feel, such attention to detail, even the lighting is perfectly designed. My favorite part about the place is the porch that I sat out on every morning and evening - it is like you are sitting up in the cedar trees! It is fully stocked with anything and everything you could want or need. I wholeheartedly recommend this carriage house. It will be a wonderfully pleasant experience for you!"
