Rodney Bay is about a 35 minute drive north of Marigot Bay and Soufriere is only a 45 minute drive south from us. It is a very convenient location for exploring the island. The northern airport (George Charles) is located at Castries about 15-20 minutes driving. The southern airport is located about an hour drive south at View Fort (Hewanorra)
There is usually live entertainment in the bay several nights a week and there is a fish festival celebration every Friday in the town of Anse-La-Raye. It is a great opportunity to sample local food and culture. We have a wonderful museum in the Pigeon Island National Park where the ruins of the French and British forts are located. Pigeon Island is also the site of our annual Jazz Festival in May and a popular site for weddings. The Castries local market is the best place to find fresh tropical fruits and vegetables. There are also two duty free shopping malls located in Castries Harbor. The Pitons are only about 45 minutes south of Marigot Bay, explore the volcano, see the waterfalls and explore the botanical gardens. There are many beaches and snorkeling spots nearby and around the island
St. Lucia has a lot of mountains, rivers, waterfalls, volcanoes, botanical gardens and many other attractions. Such activities as diving, sailing, horseback riding, zip lining, biking, sports fishing, kayaking and many other tours are available.

Marigot Bay Penthouse feedback
Marigot Bay Penthouse feedback
Just came back from St. Lucia and overall we enjoyed our vacation. We rented the Marigot Bay penthouse, and I would say we have mixed feeling about this place. I will start with the villa itself. The villa is very nice, clean place with everything you might need during your stay, all kitchen utnesils, linens, towels, etc. The displayed pictures capture very accurately the villa and its surroundings. The first drawback however is that it is located at the intersection of two busy roads and steep hill. As mentioned, it is located close to the beach, however you have to catch ferry to the beach and pay $2 each trip or purchase weekly ticket which costs $13. I have to admit that ferry runs frequently, and we never had problems waiting for it. Beach- I would say that this is the worst beach I have been to and seen so far, though it looks nice in the picture, it never gets cleaned, and water is dirty with lots of litter and garbage on the shore. One day we saw the tourist who was cleaning the beach area, not the locals who should have cleaned it daily. I cut my foot on broken glass when I was swimming which left very unpleasant 'taste". Initially we were not planning to rent a car, however after spending 2 days on that beach, we decided to do that to find cleaner beaches. We found very beautiful ones, and only returned twice to our "local" beach when we did not want to drive. So, if you are a beach lover as we are, this is not the place for you. There is a grocery store few steps away which is convinient if you dont have a car, however we were using the SuperMarket which is 15 mins drive, and had a greater selection of food. The restaurants are expensive in the area, compare to the prices of the NYC upscale restaurants, but not the quality. Overall, we enjoyed the entire experience, and never regret visiting St. Lucia.
