Vinalhaven house description
This lovely, four bedroom home sits on a quiet street just a short walk from the center of town. Wander through town and dine in one of the local restaurants or browse through the interesting shops and stores. Stop by the town lobster co-op and pick up dinner and watch as the lobstermen come back from hauling and unload their catch.
There is a playground and lovely views of Carvers Harbor on Ambrust Hill, which is located behind the house. Guests can bike or take a short walk to Lanes Island Preserve or to one of the many fresh water swimming quarries. Visit the Historical Society and learn more about Vinalhaven and its history.
Hit the hiking trails, take a swim, or maybe a quick boat ride to North Haven to play a round of golf on one of Maine's most beautiful nine hole golf courses.
Wireless internet access is available at the library, just up the street from the house. Bike, canoe and kayak rentals are available in town. If you are looking for a relaxing island retreat...look no further.

Lovely home for family visit
Lovely home for family visit
This was a fine home for 3 adults and 2 teenagers. We had plenty of space to host meals, the kitchen was well stocked for lots of cooking, and we all loved being so close to "downtown Vinalhaven". There were plenty of beach, bath and kitchen and bed linens. This home was a quiet place to retreat or a nice "base camp" for explorations. We lounged on the porch with coffee and a good read. We also walked to town or the nearby quarry for a nice swim. Loved going to ARC cafe for great coffee early in the morning. We used the ARC a lot, and other restaurants, sandwich store, fisherman's breakfast place (they had breakfast from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.)candy store, paper store, and hardware store. We ate extremely well, as the grocery store, less than a block away, was very well stocked, and the wine store had the loveliest vegetables, bread, cheese and wine. The fish coop was nearby, and we had lobster that I believe was bought from there. The photos and descriptions of the home on VRBO did accurately reflect the amenities and appearance. The owners were great, and I would definitely recommend this property to friends. I can't wait to go back!

Excellent family rental
Excellent family rental
This house is a terrific fit for families looking for a home away from home on VH for a vacation stay. The house is very well maintained and equipped and despite being an older home, is very clean and in excellent shape. The kitchen is well equipped and quite functional. The location of the house is ideal if you don;t like having to hop in the car to go everywhere. The close proximity to the "downtown" area is very convenient. Also, the property owners are a pleasure to deal with and clearly take pride in their vacation home.

What a wonderful clean home. What I liked about the rental was the close proximity to waking into town and Lane's Island preserve. The owner must like to cook as it has many of the kitchen utensils one would need to cook or bake as that is what I love to do. I come to Vinalhaven every year and plan on staying in the same rental.
