Very clean and comfortable accomodations. Janet, the proprietor was very helpful in suggesting eating establishments and interesting day trips. Tulum is an ideal base location for touring local sites such as the Coba ruins, Chichen Itza, cenotes and the Sian Kaan biosphere reserve. Great beaches are a short taxi ride from town. I have travelled a lot of Mexico and I felt very safe in Tulum any time of the day or night. I did't notice any better accomodations in town to compare with this small, well run posoda. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something other than the beach sceen or the crowds of Cancun.

This hotel has been our favorite on the Riviera. The room was lovely and having a refrigerator was a nice plus. The hotel is in a quiet section of town, away from the noisy highway. Janet is an excellent hostess, sharing good information about where to go and what to do.
Posada Luna del Sur is an excellent value in Tulum!!

We´ve had a tremendous time in Tulum, owed in no small part to the efforts of Janet at Posada Luna del Sur. The room was spacious and comfortable, spotless and well tended by Crisanta the housekeeper. For accomodation of a small group, with a fridge and air conditioning, there is simply no better value in Tulum. The nicest rooms at the best prices are here.

  • Day trips to the ruins, beaches, Sian Ka'an nature reserve, and cenotes are easily arranged. Tulum pueblo is ~2 km from magnificent Tulum beaches (5 min drive). Tulum's ruins are 2 km away from Posada Luna del Sur, and Coba's ruins are 25 miles from Tulum (30 min drive). The caves and cenotes near Tulum offer a near magical adventure for swimming and diving. Sian Ka'an Reserve is spectacular to meander through the jungle on a tour, for birdwatching and flyfishing, and to bathe in the warm waters hugged by powdery sand beaches or in the fresh water cenotes
