Whispering Pines has the best view of the mountains and overlooks the lake just a short walk downhill to the private marina.
The cabin sleeps 8-10 comfortably and is perfect for a couple families with or without children.
The mountain chalet is a 3 level home and has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths
• 1st floor Master bedroom has a King and full bath
• 2nd floor master has queen and full bath
• 3rd level bedroom has two twin beds, a loft with two beds and a kids hide away with one bed
• The 1st and 2nd level both have gas fireplaces
It doesn’t get prettier than this. One of our guests, described Watauga Lake as Lake Geneva in the NorthEast corner of Tennesee. Our house sits atop of the mountains in Appalachia at 4500 feet. Because we are in the Cherokee National Forest, there are very few homes on the lake which makes the views prettier than normal. In addition, the lake gets warm early in the season. You can swim from April through late October. It is a short walk to the private marina and gazebo, where there is a private covered marina; Fish Springs will bring a rental boat to an open slip for you if you'd like or you can bring one yourself. In the winter, it is an amazing home located 20 miles from a handful of skiing mountains including Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian. Our home, completed in late November 2009, looks like something straight out of a movie with driftwood trees inside the house as well as indoor and outdoor water falls. You can be busy every minute, or simply sit by the water's edge and relax.

What a perfect home for a mountain/lake getaway! Top of the mountain views and gentle breezes with Watauga Lake just down the street plus an immaculate home with all the details taken care of and well stocked with supplies for our stay. While our party was only 3 adults, this home would be a kids dream with hidden sleeping spaces, indoor "trees," waterfalls, fire pit, outside swing and woods to play in if you get tired of the lake. We were so "waterlogged" from our days on the lake that we didn't even try out the inviting hot tub. Maybe another stay--we would definitey recommend this home and hope to return ourselves. Thanks, Tom and Heidi for sharing this special place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

What a view! The home also afforded all the modern amenities any vacationer would wish to have. Our family had a wonderful time. We spend time at a beach area and on the lake. We rented a boat and docked it within walking distance (not the easiest walk - pretty steep.) There was a lot of space and seating. We loved the decor and multiple water features on the property. We will be returning!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My family and I stayed in this lovely rental during the month of July, 2011. Being such a newly built property, it is as comfortable as any home or hotel, but is designed and decorated in a way that evokes the rustic nature of its surroundings. This house successfully merges the modern sophistications with a rugged mountain cabin. It is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and situated amongst some of the most beautiful surroundings. The views from the deck and covered porch are fantastic. The sleeping arrangements are all very comfortable and the house provides everything you and your family will need to have a relaxing holiday. And the hot tub is awesome. Our family enjoyed every minute of our time at this cabin! The views, unique design, amenities were spectacular! Some of our favorite things were the beautiful design of the main family room complete with an awesome chandelier, trees and waterfall, the upstairs loft and kids' hangout, the deck with large table and rocking chairs for eating meals, playing games, and hanging out to see the beautiful mountain views, the spacious and well-stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs, and the firepit where our kids had the best time gathering wood, making a fire, and cooking smores every night! The hot tub and cornhole game were also entertaining. The drive to this cabin is truly breathtaking! The area has much to offer. We went fishing, took the kids to the nearby beach, and took a tour of Bristol Motor Speedway for a $1.00! All this while, our girls were competing in the 10 U Nationals Fastpitch Softball Tournament in Johnson City! We quickly found some great grocery stores and a few restaurants, but cooked a lot of meals right here at the cabin. A few things we didn't get the chance to do were to rent a boat and go out on the lake and to go to the drive-in movie theater a short distance away in Elizabethton. (Our kids didn't even know there was such a thing!) I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a slow-paced vacation just to get away from it all! I know we will definitely return one day. The owner is great to work with, the home is very comfortable, and we had no problems during our stay. We all thank he and his family for sharing their vacation dream home with us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
