We stayed at Bloomsbury House for a family Thanksgiving in Seattle. My husband and I shared the house with son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. The large master bedroom and bathroom upstairs is nicely separated and private, which made it very comfortable for more-than-one-family. There are two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with twin beds -- very nice for a family with young children, which they want separate, yet close. On the ground level (garage and laundry), a fourth bedroom with bunk beds would serve well for older chidren. The house is delightfully furnished and decorated, with many treasures and books. Other family members who stopped by to visit said that it felt like visiting us in our own home. Our grandsons were delighted with a nearby park, complete with "zip-line." The property is conveniently located, an easy drive to Seattle and close to the University of Washington, Greenlake Park, and the zoo. The homeowners were very friendly and helpful.

My family (3) was visiting our daughter for her senior Art Show at UW and was looking for a place close to the U-district that gave us a great home base/starting off point. Bloomsbury met our needs perfectly! A couple of thoughts: Andrew and Sarah are gracious hosts... took time to welcome us and show us around the house. It's apparent that they love the house and want others to enjoy it too. Location was superb... it was easy to walk down for coffee or shopping in/around U-Village... minimal traffic nearby... and any time we needed to get onto I-5, it was just a short drive away. Accommodations were superb. It's hard to believe that anyone would stay in a hotel when Bloomsbury is available. The upstairs suite was spacious... no issues at all with any of the appliances, faucets, etc... Overall, it was very cozy and my family felt very much at home reminiscing and spending time together. I could not recommend the property more highly. Enjoy!

Staying in this lovely home was a wonderful experience! The home is in a quiet, leafy residential neighborhood, yet close to restaurants, shops, café and groceries. The owners couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, and it is clear they have lovingly cared for the home. It is well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout, including an unexpected starter breakfast pack with the most awesome homemade granola ever. Would highly recommend, and we would definitely return next time we're in Seattle.

Fantastic find! The owners took the time to meet us personally and show us around the property. It was extremely comfortable for our family of 6. Mom, Dad, boys (15, 13, 11) and girl (9). The neighborhood was quietly tucked away just above University Village. The only difficulty we had was finding street parking when arriving at the property late. We rented an SUV and were too scared to park it in the one car garage. Like most residences in the area, the garage space is tight! Probably not a problem with a 'normal' sized car. We would book again!

Sarah and Andrew met us at the house when we arrived. They were gracious in showing us this very unique home. It is a warm and inviting home. We were always finding new and interesting pieces of art through out the house. My favorites were the soap dish in the main floor bath tub and a brick in the upstairs bedroom. As it has been mentioned in other reviews, we were able to walk to several different shops and restaurants. We also enjoyed walking through the park that is just a couple of blocks away. Several pleasant conversations were held on the front porch and back yard deck. I had to call Andrew and Sarah on 3 different occasions and felt they were helpful and respectful in answering my questions. Thank you Sarah and Andrew for sharing your lovely home.

Our family of six chose Seattle for a three-week vacation this summer, and Bloomsbury House was the perfect place for a home base. The house had more than enough room for all of us, and the back yard and deck gave us a place to escape when the kids needed to play or the adults wanted to enjoy the cool evenings outside. We also enjoyed easy access to a new mall, grocery store, and several great places to eat within a few blocks walking distance. And we can't forget nearby Ravenna Park, which provided a great place for all of us to relax. The house is beautifully decorated with an interesting mix of artwork by one of the owners and other artists, with several works in the Bloomsbury style (which we learned perusing one of the many coffee table books). The kitchen was stocked with all sorts of gadgets and gizmos for cooks and coffee lovers, and the owners thoughtfully provided fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, and milk the day we arrived, which relieved the pressure of finding food for our kids the next morning. The house also came complete with a high chair and crib. We stayed at Bloomsbury three weeks, so it's not surprising we had a few "homeowner" moments where things around the house needed attention. The owners quickly found a fix when the handle came off a toilet and when we couldn't figure out how to work the CD player. Our Chrysler Town and Country Van wouldn't quite fit in the garage, but on-street parking was available. We would definitely recommend Bloomsbury House to anyone planning a short or long-term stay in Seattle. The neighborhood is quiet, and the neighbors are friendly. It's no more than a 10-minute drive into downtown even at rush hour, and the neighborhood has everything you need if you just want to stay close to the house. We hope we have a chance to return in the next few years!

As advertised, the home is centrally located and is easily accessible to downtown, the university, to the islands, coffee shops, parks and antique stores. The home is well maintained, adequately equipped, comfortably furnished and is beautifully decorated inside and out. We enjoyed our weeks stay.

My family recently stayed at this charming bungalow and we loved it! Sarah and Andrew were wonderful hosts! The house was perfect for our first vacation to Seattle. My husband and I love to stay in vacation rentals as opposed to hotels so we have experienced all kinds of places. Bloomsbury House is the BEST!! There were so many relaxing spaces – the living room, kitchen, dining room, front and back yard – and wow, the master bedroom suite upstairs!! That is my favorite place – so peaceful and quiet. The pictures on the website depict the house, but not its warmth and charm – that’s to be experienced while you are there. GREAT AMENITIES! Including a fully stocked kitchen (just about every dish, pot, gadget you can think of!), espresso machine with detailed user instructions, fresh herbs, organic soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, dishwasher, front loading washer and dryer, comfortable beds (tempurpedic/memory-foam), fluffy pillows, nice, clean linens, claw foot bathtub in the master suite, books, movies, music, wireless internet, board games, snacks, baby crib, changing table, high chair, toys…and a working fireplace!! We were able to cook our own meals with ease! The house was very clean and well-maintained (which is nice – not all vacation rentals are clean or taken care of) and also very tastefully decorated. We loved the art and obvious attention that Sarah and Andrew have given this home. Each room has its own creative charm and feel. They also have a Welcome Book that has information about the house, neighborhood, parking, things to do in Seattle, etc. Very helpful. Great location - close to the U-District, downtown, Seattle Center, Capitol Hill, etc. You are also a short walk away from the grocery store, shopping and lots of restaurants. We will definitely be back and we will also be telling ALL of our family/friends about our experience!! On a side note, I was really saddened when I read the one negative review. I just don’t see how anyone could say this about Sarah and Andrew. My husband and I found no issue with the contract/rules and we found Sarah and Andrew to be very kind and generous. Following the rules (i.e. leaving the house tidy) is just part of staying in a vacation rental. Go with us on this one – Bloomsbury offers a wonderful stay!! Thank you again Sarah and Andrew! Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
