Built in 2011, the upstairs apartment of the Carriage House is ideally located West of 28th Street and within 5 mins cycle / 15 mins easy stroll to downtown Boulder. Located at the back of my property on a quiet and sought-after street, the second floor boasts a light, bright interior with beautiful hardwood bamboo floors and large windows offering partial views to the iconic Flatirons.
The fully furnished and equipped home has an open plan living space incorporating a full sized couch which flips out to provide an extra sleeping space. There is a comfortable armchair positioned perfectly for curling up to read a book or to watch the sun set over the mountains. A tall four-seat dining table allows for a space to work or use a laptop. It's also perfect to eat meals you've prepared in the full kitchen or bought from one of the numerous food outlets conveniently located within blocks (including the 29th Street Mall and one of the largest Wholefoods in the US).
The master bedroom features a Queen sized bed plus a walk-in wardrobe. For those nimble enough, a ladder takes you up to the mezzanine loft where a second Queen sized bed is located. The loft has a low ceiling (under 6' at the highest point ) so is best suited to the more petite, children or those willing to duck! All beds have organic linen with a 325 thread count and hypoallergenic pillows for a more comfortable snooze…
Not a single foot of this unit is wasted with all the mod cons included. Unlimited high speed wireless internet, cable TV (one 32” flat screen in the living area and one 19” flat screen in the bedroom), an iPod dock / AM FM radio stereo system, combination washer dryer with an iron and ironing board, a fan forced oven with four burner stove, a microwave, a fridge and the dishwasher mean you can truly make yourself at home during your stay.
There is off street parking for one large vehicle with space for two smaller cars; a dedicated private entrance and a fully enclosed courtyard with a deck. A small gas BBQ is provided for summer grilling with the yard area also suitable for well behaved dogs. Relaxed cats are also welcome but are best kept inside - owners should be aware there are a couple of 'top cats' running the neighbourhood who aren't always welcoming to new visitors! There is access through the back gate into my garden to an energy efficient hot tub for a relaxing soak. I also encourage you to use the two Electra cruiser bikes (locks and helmets are available) to get around Boulder like a local.
The apartment has been constructed using a “minimal environmental impact” approach, using reclaimed and sustainable products wherever possible. You will be comfortable year round in this hyper insulated space – double glazed windows open to allow cooling cross breeze and a ceiling fan keeps the space ventilated. Cordless (child and pet safe) honeycomb blinds maximize passive solar heat in the winter and block the suns rays in summer. The energy efficient reverse cycle split system heater / AC unit and under floor heating in the bathroom combined with a ceramic panel heater in the bedroom mean you will never be too hot or too cold, even through the changes of the intense Colorado seasons.

Wonderful property. Clean, modern and obviously well cared for. Extremely comfortable for 3 and conveniently located to many of the Boulder attractions. The bikes were a plus --- making it a breeze to get down to the Pearl St shops and restaurants. The owner provided 7 pages of instructions on the unit as well as information about the local area --- everything was covered. Even coffee and spices were provided (albeit a french press for the coffee --- a bit cumbersome as many pots were needed in the AM to satisfy 3 coffee drinkers!). I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, or recommend the property to a friend or relative. For those microbrew fans --- Avery brewery is within 5 miles of the unit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I spent an interesting month in Boulder with our dog Jack. The apartment was perfect for all of our needs. It is an efficiently designed space with just enough room for us inside and out. On nice days Jack loved wandering downstairs to lie on the deck which was nicely fenced in. The windows surrounding the living space let in a lot of the Boulder sun yet you have the privacy of being up on the second floor with very interesting views of the neighborhood. We loved the location of North Boulder, private but not out of the way. I would easily stay there again and recommend it to anyone. Our vacation stay at the Carriage House was wonderful. This place is drenched in sunshine with all of its windows. We loved having a bedroom, but also a loft area with another bed. Our daughter flew in from Seattle for the weekend and we could each have our own space. The location is perfect. I fell in love with the Whole Foods Market just around the corner. Pearl Street was in walking distance. I loved the use of the two cruiser bikes. We rode part of the Boulder Creek Path. During our week's stay, I sat outside on the private deck two times. Love the Colorado sunshine! I would definitely stay at the Carriage House again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Visiting from England, we found the Carriage House to be clean, beautifully designed and in an excellent location. Though small, clever use of space means that it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We used the nearby Whole Foods store to shop for food and enjoyed the walk to Pearl Street and Historic Boulder. We would be love to stay at the Carriage House if we visit Boulder again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Colby and I stayed at the Carriage House for the entire month of July 2012. The Carriage House is bright, comfortable, and private. It is within walking distance to Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, and a plethora of quaint neighborhood restaurants. Colby, an avid cyclist, enjoyed the many places to ride in the Boulder area. We loved going to the Farmer’s Market, eating at local restaurants and listening to performers on Pearl Street. One night we drove 45 minutes to attend a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Wow…what a treat. It was so nice to come back to our home away from home too. Twice a day we walked our two well-trained Golden Retrievers through the eclectic and architecturally appealing Mapleton area neighborhood. It was especially wonderful to be able to have our elderly dogs with us too. Andi and John were friendly and attentive. We had an internet connection problem and they took care of it instantly. We have many fond memories of Boulder and no regrets staying at the Eco Friendly Carriage House on Mapleton. If we happen to visit Boulder again we will definitely check out the gorgeous Eco-friendly carriage house. Cheers!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay! The Carriage House is perfectly located for walking to coffee, shopping, and dining on Pearl street and also just two blocks from Whole Foods, REI, and Target if you prefer to cook and/or need any last minute items during your stay. The Carriage House itself is immaculately kept. It has a clean modern feel and an open and comfortable floor plan. John and Andi were great. They made everything very easy for us and were readily available if we had any questions or needed help with anything. We will definitely stay at The Carriage House again if our travels take us to Boulder.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Everything during the 4 days we spent in Boulder was great. The location of the property was great, just a short walk to Pearl street, and good starting point for jogging, with hilly and less hilly options. The two bikes were fun and very convenient to get to the surrounding shopping center and reach the campus. The outdoor activities are endless, and our host provided multiple options to help us. We loved the modern look of the house, and will definitely come back next time we're in Boulder.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We were blown away by our stay at the Carriage House! Andi and John were wonderful! From their detailed instructions to the accommodations at the house, it was by far so much nicer than we ever could have imagined. We felt truly spoiled while we were there. The pictures posted don’t do it near the justice of the actual place, it’s truly the perfect getaway location! We very rarely strayed far from the Boulder area, found our way to play some pool at the Pearl Street Pub and found drinks atop the West End Tavern a short walk from the house. I even tried my hand at sky diving less than 20 minutes away. This is a place we will be recommending to our friends/family in the future and we will most certainly be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Very nice boulder rental. The listing description was accurate and photos are on the mark. Nice interior light. I'd stay at the carriage house again. My mother and I stayed at the carriage house this spring and had a wonderful experience. We were visiting from Chicago and wanted to get a good sense of everything Boulder has to offer. Andi and John were extremely friendly and helpful and were available to us if we had any questions. The house was impeccably clean, well stocked with most anything you could need (shampoo, lotions, coffee, flashlights, reusable grocery bags, etc...), and the design of the home really made this a unique place to stay. We loved the location, hot tub, heated bathroom floor, and the beds/couch were comfy. The wifi internet works perfectly well, too! Be aware that one of the bikes is fit for a 6'3" man- we unfortunately couldn't use the bikes, but the owners did offer their personal bikes for us to use. I plan on staying here again in the future and I urge you to do the same for an extremely comfortable and enjoyable trip!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: I'm a cinematographer who was born and raised in Colorado. I've lived in Boulder for decades and enjoy the many positive aspects of life here - access to areas of amazing natural beauty, great cycling, rock climbing, restaurants and social life to name a few.

My own home is one of the two buildings on this property, so effectively it's my vacation home year round! The quality of life in Boulder is widely recognized and I love the fact that you can walk or cycle to Downtown.
