La Conner house description
A beautiful blend of the Pacific Northwest and Asian culture, this home offers three sleeping areas and can accommodate 6 people. Currently, 2 beds in house. Extra bed available on request.
Plus a separate Log cabin studio guesthouse! Sleeps 2.
From the cedar pillars the home rests on to the king-size bed shipped in from Indonesia, every square inch of this exquisite home is custom-built. Entry stairs seduce you into the warm entry where woodwork compliments slate. Inside, a warm fire greets you as the reading nook nestled next to it calls your name.
Easily accommodating five people, the 4-inch highly polished dining table crafted from Indonesian suar hardwood graces the windows that overlook island-studded salt water where eagles and herons soar and glide the blue waters of Skagit Bay.
Windows in the fully-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, convection oven and Sub-Zero refrigerator also overlook the bay. Please see the amenities page for a list of kitchen accessories.
The downstairs bedroom, decorated with Pacific Northwest Native American Artwork sleeps two in a comfy over-sized king bed also imported from Indonesia. The main floor also offers an oversized shower. Separately is a laundry area.
The upstairs bedroom offers a queen-size bed and a full bath with soaking tub. Both rooms overlook Skagit Bay. All beds are dressed in down-comforters.
Outdoors is a gas BBQ, a dining area with plenty of chairs for family and friends. A small covered deck offers shade from the sun or a place to sit while it’s raining.
Skagit Bay at your front door is a photographer’s paradise. On any given day you’ll hear the high screech of bald eagles, the clack-clack-clack of a kingfisher as he dives for his dinner, the comforting sounds of seagulls and the ancient call of the loon. Grab your binoculars and watch resident seals swim up and down the bay when the mud flats are full at high tide. Snap a memory of the moon setting over the islands.
Skagit County offers delightful getaways all year around: The Tulip Festival in April, Arts Alive in November, The Poetry Festival, The Farm Festival and plenty of shopping, golfing, kayaking, tide pool wandering at Deception Pass and whale watching. And don’t forget, we have some of the finest restaurants north of Seattle in downtown La Conner and Anacortes.
A short 15-minute drive puts you at Deception Pass State Park, Chuckanut Drive, Washington Park, San Juan Island Ferry terminal or Whistle Lake in Anacortes – all awaiting your walking shoes and camera.
This is a non-smoking home. Children and pets are welcome, but we are neither kid nor pet proof. If you bring a pet, we ask that you supply your own bedding (Fido will feel better too) and we do not allow pets on furniture. Children and pets must be supervised at all times. We are not responsible for accidents on the property. Damage to the property will be charged to the guest. We are happy to say that in eight years and five different vacation rentals, we have never had to face this kind of a problem.
New Custom Log Cabin on the adjacent lot - Kitchenette & Shower and queen size sleeping loft . Wrap around covered porch for sitting or a barbeque. This little studio is voted the best little log cabin ever! Sleeps 2. Nature and adventure are at your doorstep! Very Fun!

Our vacation was 19 days long, and we stayed in 9 locations, 13 Moons was by far our favorite. The owner had the place ready for our stay, and information was provided in a timely fashion even though we were on the road prior to arriving. We would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in the area. We drove to Mt. Baker twice for hiking, but returned to the property each evening for dinner on the patio with the fantastic sunsets. Even grilled fresh salmon (as in caught that day) outside on the grill, eating it as we sat on the patio enjoying the sunset. Canoed out to small island to exercise the arms. Wonderful place with views and amenities not often found in rentals.

We came to see the tulips and wanted a nice place to stay while we were there and found the perfect place! We absolutely loved this cabin and would come back for other occasions. The property was clean and well maintained and I would highly recommend staying here to my family and friends. We felt comfortable and relaxed and will certainly come back!

We spent only two nights at 13 Moons but I would have been very happy to stay longer. This "cabin" was developed with a very loving and creative eye. It's really comfy and beautiful. Mary Jayne has gone to great lengths to make sure all amenities are available to her guests. The setting couldn't be much better--especially if you love the misty northwest. We were there in January and it was great! To answer the quibbles of earlier guests, I'd say: It's true there's not a lot of room to store luggage or hang clothes on the ground floor. That wasn't a problem for us. If you're older, getting to the beach might be a problem as there are 50 kind of slippery (only in winter) steps, and the beach is made of rounded rolling rocks which make walking impractical. Don't go there in winter if you want to walk on the beach. But if you want to visit LaConner's Museum of Northwest Art and some of it's really fine restaurants, or go up to Anacortes and walk around Causland Park, or Washington Park, or head over to Deception Pass, this is a great base. You'll be happy for the things you saw, and happy to get "home" to 13 Moons.

13 Moons is a little piece of heaven.
13 Moons is a little piece of heaven.
This beautiful home and the adjacent log cottage exceeded our expectations. It is immaculate, comfortably and tastefully furnished and has an amazing view and waterfront. The owner had taken every care to make sure that all was in place for us. Our three days here were the beginning of a family reunion. The serenity of 13 Moons made it the ideal location for family members who live on opposite coasts to reconnect with each other. We did not want to leave. I am remiss in waiting so long to write this review, but it is nonetheless heartfelt. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

This is a beautiful cottage on the bay, very quiet and secluded. We were very disappointed there was no place to hang your clothes or dressers down stairs to store any of your clothes. No counter space in the bathroom. The bedroom downstairs was very tiny and we had 2 large suite cases and 2 small ones. and we had to leave them on the bed during the day and put them on the floor at night. We only had one shower downstairs, so the 4 of us had to take turns taking showers and getting ready in the morning. The house is not set up for a rental unless there are just 2 people. Its beautiful but not practical. There are places at the back of the stair way and the laundry area where they could put rods to hang your clothes. Also we wished there were more glasses and larger coffee mugs. Not enough cook wear. Could not figure out how to use the oven and could not get the BQ started. No instructions any where for anything. Could not get the CD player to work. very complicated set up.

Manager response: Christy's Mother had a stroke during her stay at 13 Moons. An unfortunate time for her all in all. She flew home early to California to attend to her Mothers passing. A refund was sent upon her request. Guests at 13 Moons are very important. We recognize special needs and strive to accomodate the most discerning and particular. The adjacent guest house is also available for groups that require more space.
If you are looking for the most beautiful, relaxing, enjoyable place to spend some time, look no further! The house is beautiful! Mary Jayne you have done a fantastic job of decorating! We are still raving about the lavendar citrus and geranium bath products. The view is breathtaking. Five o"clock happy hour was a glass of wine on the patio watching the Blue Herron fly overhead. We will be back!

everything was as expected, spotlessly clean and well organized--beautiful and enjoyable. The kitchen was well supplied and useful--we did some real cooking and had fun doing it. The bathrooms were very nice and well supplies and the beds comfortable. We had a nice stay. The only suggestion I would have is to have a more flexible sleeper in the living room--a hide-a-bed couch or futon. As it was, the extra bed took a lot of room in the common area

Manager response: Thank you for the review. Hope to have you come back to stay at 13 Moons again. The extra bed is actually a futon and folds into a couch! It is from "Dream on Futon" in Bellingham. I will keep the suggestion in mind though and minimize the furniture a bit more. Extra space feels better, I agree! Thanks again. Mary Jayne
I have had the pleasure to actually stay at 13 Moons twice! It is wonderful beyond words. The first time was with my sisters, for a girls getaway, the second with my husband for a quiet getaway. The pictures actually don't do it justice. It is just so beautiful. The view is spectacular, especially on a sunny gorgeous weekend! The house itself is just beautiful, with so many custom features, so much thought has been put into it. It is super clean and VERY well maintained. Once you get there, you won't want to leave. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Quiet & Relaxing With a Wonderful View
Quiet & Relaxing With a Wonderful View
The owner and manager were friendly and communicative and answered all our questions. They were both a pleasure to deal with. The decor of the house had personality and charm, which was just what we were looking for; we didn't want an ordinary looking interior. Other things we loved: the shower and large tub, the firepit, the beautiful kitchen, and, of course, the view.

About: 13 Moons was built by real craftsmen in the NW Canadian style of architecture. Post and beam log construction, Natural elements of wood, stone, glass and metal were chosen to balance the project. An Asian influenced discipline, zenlike and calm in detail. Appreciation of nature and creating a beautiful space was my goal. This is a retreat for love and rejuvenation.
Why La Conner:
I stayed at a Pull & be Damned beach house when I was a kid. My Mom rented a small place for the Summer. It was old fashioned Pacific Nortwest fun. Later in life, I found this beach again and fixed up a tiny waterfront cabin nestled in the woods. After years went by, I found an abandoned area on the same stretch of beach. It had sat empty for 8 years and had accumulated junk from the old residents long gone. I thought it was a diamond in the rough. I decided to take it on and make it as lovely as I could. We live about 20 miles from this beach, often I just go out for an hour or two to recharge my spirit. I walk with my dogs on the isolated beach. I paddle my kayak or canoe out to the little islands in the bay. It is the perfect place for me to share. I hope that others will be inspired and relaxed when they are at 'The Cabin'.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Watching the herons and eagles.Kayaking or canoeing to the little islands in Skagit Bay. Bicycle the paved one way beach access lanes. Life is just a little sweeter when you are tucked in at a cozy cabin.
