I recently stayed in this lovely cabin, and I have to say it was truly a wonderful experience. If your looking to get away from the city and just have a nice, quiet, relaxing evening this is the place to go. I was also very pleased with the staff. The staff members that I spoke with were extremely helpful and professional. I will definitely be coming back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed in the cabin for a month. It is quaint, rustic and very quiet. It is very accessible to other mountain towns. The manager was very helpful and responded immediately to all questions. WiFi and cable TV kept me connected to the world.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin was a great winter getaway for a cozy winter experience. There was a wonderful view that really took my breath away during snow falling and fireplace in the livingroom. We had wonderful visitors from the wild (blue jays) which loved the sprinkleof peanuts we placed on the porch in the morning! The location was a perfect balance between big bear and arrowhead, which we were able to visit both during this weeklong vacation. The owner was very helpful (Aaron) with any questions. We recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a cozy cabin experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Husband and I wanted a quick getaway to the mountains and stayed three nights here, all arranged about a day in advance because that's when we decided to get out of town. It was a nearly-perfect match for us and it would be a great place to bring a family or small group of friends. The breakdown on beds is as follows: queen in a downstairs bedroom, queen futon, a pull-out single bed, and a loveseat in the living room, and two twin beds upstairs. There's a nice understated rustic feel to the place. We liked the view and the privacy of lots of trees, and the convenience of the location was a big plus! I was afraid that it would get too hot inside since it was summer, but even though it got warm during the day from the sun beating down on the dark roof (outside temps got into the 80s I think), there was ample circulation from just opening the door onto the porch. In five minutes the temperature inside was perfect and we never needed to use the air conditioning. We used the kitchen a lot, since food allergies keep us from eating out much. If you plan to prep food there, consider bringing your favorite knife, cutting board, and pan if you're picky; what's there will get you through, but it's minimal and cumbersome. The small issues that came up for us were kindly and promptly addressed by the owner. We hope to have an opportunity to stay here again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I adored the cabin and its looks and spectacular views inside and out where it sits lower than the rest of nearby homes on the hill so you couldn't really see the house from Live Oak Rd. The number address was posted on a light post so the cabin was hard to find at first but we eventually found it. The interior design and its small clean rooms with the loft upstairs were meant to exude coziness and the house certainly made us feel that way. The excitement was achieved as well. The kids loved most the pull out toddler bed that was tucked away underneath the TV stand where they could lay and watch TV. I just like the fact that this little cozy 2 bedroom pad could actually sleep 8 people. The 2 extra spots are the large love seat that could fit a 4 or 5 year old since my 5 year old fit perfectly in it and the TV bed could actually sleep another preschooler. I like the bar and the high round table which gave it a modern look. Then the ancient oven that opens from the side instead of at the top definitely gave it an old fashioned look. There were plenty of blankets stored away and we used them all due to the Santa Ana wind that followed us all the way to the mountain that night. I like especialy the giant thick red comforter upstairs. If you plan to sleep more than 6 then bring more blankets. The extra heater in the bathroom was perfect and a bonus. A few minor things that didn't work: 1) I did not like was the air coming inside through the AC unit on the wall in the living room since I slept on the futon right in front of it. But after covering it with a towel, there was no more cold air blowing; 2) No satellite so I couldn't get the TV to work (we just watched movies that we brought and connected the laptop to the TV); 3) The internet (wifi) password did not work but luckily we used our own wifi from our phone so we were able to get internet connection on both laptop and tablet; 4) When we turned on the living room light with the remote, the bulb burned and shot out a spark so not enough light; 5) The smoke detector upstairs had to be dismounted because of low battery so it wouldn't make those intermittent beeps during the night since they were pretty loud and annoying; and 6) There was no oil to cook breakfast but luckily I brought bacon and butter (the place I stayed at last year had oil but now I know to bring my own oil, no biggie). These are just minor breakdowns that did not bother us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I stayed at the cabin for two weeks for Christmas and New Years and it was wonderful. The kitchen was well equiped and the cabin was small enough to feel cozy yet big enough for all 6 of us. The views were amazing especially with so much snow that fell during our second week stay. We didn't really explore in Arrowhead or Big Bear. We had all we needed at the cabin both inside and outside. It's on a slope so it was perfect for the kids to play in the snow. The owner, Aaron, was very friendly and accomodating to any of my concerns during the stay. He was even out at the cabin on our last day. If it wasn't for him being there and helping us with all the snow on the driveway, I don't think we would of made it out that day with all the snow that fell. I think he went out of his way to help us out and it was highly appreciated. I would definately consider goi back to this cabin on our next vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the cabin for thanksgiving weekend, it was amazing. The cabin was nice and cozy, it had everything we needed. I must add that the restroom had a built in heater- "I loved it!" especially since it was 25 degrees outside. (all the apliances worked perfectly fine) The cabin is 15 mins away from big bear lake- were you can snowboard!! I have to admit it was a perfect get away, this year has been busy for us- working long hours daily. This triped helped us get our mind off work and enjoy the nature and our family. 1 more amazing thing about this trip- IT SNOWED! the last day we were there.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for choosing to stay with us. We appreciate all comments and suggestions. I am glad your time there was memorable and I would like to offer you $100 discount in your next visit. Any weekend (min 2 nights) from May 2011 through September 2011. Happy New Years, and we will look forward to booking your next "perfect" getaway.

This cabin was okay for the price we paid. The bathroom and kitchen look nice, although we had ants all over our food that was left on the counter overnight. But that is typical for a cabin. And the kitchen was not stocked with much (no napkins or paper towels or spices; and there was no garbage.) The TV in the family room was very nice. The bed was okay; no top sheet which I thought was weird, and the sheet looked slept in. The throw rugs were very dirty and had animal hairs on them; we just avoided walking on them. The furniture is old and not very comfortable. I enjoyed the view, and the cabin would have been satisfactory for us (since we were just there for two days) if it hadn't been for one other problem: The toilet had been sluggish both days we were there. As we were leaving out the door I tried flushing it one last time and it overflowed. It was mainly just clean water. I grabbed some towels so that it wouldn't soak underneath the walls. (They should have thanked me for that!) There was no plunger. There was nothing else I could do, and it certainly wasn't my fault. The owner refused to give me back the cleaning down payment, which I thought was very unbusiness-like of him. I left the cabin exactly the way we found it--we didn't even use the kitchen because I didn't like the look of the dishes--but since the toilet overflowed on me then he basically made me pay for it. So the cabin is okay if comfort and cleanliness aren't real important to you, and if you don't mind having to pay for something that breaks down on you. I won't ever go back there. The cabin is up for sale so maybe the owner doesn't really care about satisfying his customers.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

I I went there with my family, 2 adults, 2 children and our dog. We really enjoyed out time there, it was perfect for our kids to experience a home that is surrounded by greenery and a bit of wildlife. We enjoyed our hikes, as much as the time spent together in the back yard. As a mother, I thought the kitchen was suitably equipped for the time we spent there. It was clean and fairly modern. I hope you will get to enjoy it as much as we did.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
