What a great place! It is so comfortable, clean and relaxing. Bob and Dawn are great hosts and made us feel so at home. Our week end to celebrate a birthday was wonderful....picnics, campfires and relaxing on the porch. We definitely plan on returning and enjoying the Shadywood cabin and all that it offers. Thanks it was perfect!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We stayed for for a quick weekend snowmobiling trip. The location was perfect for us. We were able to hook up with the trails from the property. The owner, Bob, was very accommodating. The "cottage" felt more like a home. The furnishing were newer and very nice. Overall, the place was nicely decorated. It was a welcome relief to find such a nice place that allows dogs. We will definitely go back!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our family recently stayed here for vacation. The home is beautiful, spacious and well-built. 2 large bedrooms on the first floor with full bathrooms, and a large room on the 2nd floor with 2 beds, chairs, and desks. An open floor plan for the living room, dining room and kitchen. Big tv for watching shows or dvds. A huge dining room table for eating or playing games. The kitchen has many of the items needed for cooking and baking. Refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee makers. Full set of dishes and many utensils. Towels and paper products were provided. The home was clean and well-maintained. The porch on the side is big, and there is a small porch off of the great room. The home is surrounded by woods with a cornfield in the distance. The neighborhood is quiet and not far from Chautauqua Lake. Our family was able to explore New York, while having a home to enjoy. Bob and Dawn were nice hosts, very accomodating. Thanks for your hospitality !!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

An amazing cabin with beautiful handmade furniture. We stayed here for a week in October and were really impressed before we had even opened the door. The location is superb with wonderful views from the lounge where you can see all sorts of wildlife. Photos of the cabin do not do it justice and you really have to see it for youself. Bob and Dawn are wonderful hosts, really helpful and considerate and nothing is too much trouble. We highly recommend the cabin and will certainly be returning next year.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We just spent a week at this fantastic new and spacious country retreat. The accomodations are well designed with a great eye for details including an open great room, kitchen and dining area with beautiful views through the many windows. The modern rustic feel of this property immediately welcomed our family of five and we felt very comfortable from the moment we arrived. The property is in a great location with access to Chautauqua Gorge, Mayville, Bemus Point and plenty of other Lake Chautauqua sites. We really enjoyed the large front porch where there was always a pleasant breeze as well as campfires at night. The owners - Bob and Dawn - were delightful, very accomodating and welcoming. We will definitely be planning many more trips to enjoy the fall and winter seasons at this property as well. We highly recommend this get-away and it easily accomodated our family of five. Thank you Bob and Dawn!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is extremly comfortable. The open floor plan is ideal for entertaining inside and the front porch is a great place for entertaining outside. The house is clean, has all the ammenities and comforts of home. We loved the handcrafted 4 poster beds in both bedrooms. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all this is the house for you. The setting is so rustic and peacefull. The small sitting area above the great room is a great place to curl up and read a book or just watch the world go by out the front windows that overlook the woods and an open field. You may even spot a deer grazing in the field.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We have both lived and worked in the area all our lives. We enjoy the country setting and the many activities right outside our door. We are both self employed. Bob has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1980 and Dawn was formerly in printing but now has a doggie daycare, boarding and grooming business. We have four dogs of our own and enjoy spending time with them.
Why the Owner Chose Mayville:
This home was built on our own land because we thought it was a perfect spot for all to enjoy. There is so much to see and do here and the summers are so beautiful. It's also great for winter enthusiasts. Chautauqua Lake and Chautauqua Institution make this a much sought after tourist destination.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We never get tired of all the wildlife that we see out our back window. It's always fun to spot a bird you don't see very often or to watch the deer out in the field. Summer brings great shows and lectures at Chautauqua Institution. There are also many unique restaurants in Mayville itself.
