Our week-long stay here was perfect. The setting, the thoughtfulness of the hosts, and the charm of the cottage made for a restful and restorative vacation. On the first morning we saw a Blue Heron in the yard. With Double Bluff Beach and the Earth Sanctuary less than five miles away, it's a perfect location.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We wanted a quiet weekend away that wasn't too far but out of the city. Hidden Meadow Cottage was even better than we expected. The 5 deer in the yard and being lulled to sleep by the frogs was fun. To walk the property on a beautiful Spring morning was delightful. We found Freeland and Langley to be quaint towns to roam and great restuarants. In the evening it was warm and cozy with the fireplace. Owners Mary and Richard have thought of so many details to make your stay comfortable. We would reccomend this beautifully decorated cottage to everyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Lovely cottage, nicely appointed and all we needed for our short stay. Loved having movies and games to choose from since the weather ended up less than ideal for beach fun. The only thing that could have made it better is if there were a soaking bathtub or a hot tub as I worked outdoors all day and would have enjoyed a relaxing soak at the end of the day. Will definitely recommend to others and consider another stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here for a short weekend away. Lovely accommodations and well equipped. There are trails on the property that made for a peaceful short morning walk. The owners were easy to coordinate with and very helpful. Would highly recommend.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

What an amazing rental! We arrived late on a Friday, cranky about Seattle traffic, and were immediately soothed by Hidden Meadow Cottage! We arrived in the dark, but instead of finding a dark, cold rental, we found the cottage lit with soothing lights and already warm. For us, this was an absolute oasis! We woke in the morning to a lovely meadow view through the picture window. (I camped out in the window seat with a book for most of the weekend!) The cottage is SO well stocked! We have dogs and found a basket complete with dog treats, water bowls, and towels for the pups. There was even a dog bed provided! The human bed was extremely comfy, and we were impressed with the shower gel and shampoo dispenser in the shower. In short, the cottage had all we hoped for and more! Comfy bed, plush towels, well-stocked kitchen, clean, comfy furniture, lovely view, and a quiet wetland path to walk our dogs. We loved it so much, we called and reserved an extra night! The gas wood stove was an extra bonus! In short, we loved our stay and will recommend it to anyone we know traveling to the island!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This cottage was more beautiful in person than in a picture. So many thoughtful details! Shampoo dispenser in the shower, snacks for hiking in the surrounding woods, extra cozy pillows and blankets for snuggling on the couch and a fireplace with remote control plus movies and CDs on hand..and all so cozy!! The accommodations were easily as beautiful as any upscale hotel in that price range but way more living space and privacy. So much to do nearby, even on a rainy day. we went antiquing and then gobbled 2lbs of fresh Penn's Cove Muscles at Toby's in Coupville.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The Hidden Meadow Cottage is a lovely, tranquil setting for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. It is just as pictured. The cottage was very clean, cozy, and well-appointed. Great Wi-Fi connection, heating, etc. Our weekend on Whidbey Island was full of reunions and wedding celebrations with lots of friends, so it was great to return to such a lovely, peaceful place to rejuvenate. I loved sitting in the window seat with my morning cup of tea, looking out at the greenery, the barn, and the pond. The owners really have thought of everything. For example, I brought a lint remover for our wedding apparel and found that there were two already in the cottage! We also appreciated the binder of information on restaurants, things to do, and places to go on the Island - complete with maps, etc. There was a little road noise, but not enough to interrupt our sleep or notice in the living area. Thanks for the great stay, Mary and Richard.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We stayed for one week in October 2012. The weather was perfect, although they really needed rain. The cottage is as pictured....charming and comfortable. Our host was very helpful. You are nicely located to visit all of the island, but especially the south portion. The cottage is very comfortable for two people, but lacks a bit of privacy if you have another person using the sofabed. If your other person is a relative, there certainly is no problem. The cottage is well furnished and has wi-fi and ability to utilize an i-pod for music, etc. We would highly recommend the cottage for your stay on the island.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Mary and Richard have created a homey, spacious, bright space complete with all the amenities of home. The best thing is the setting: while close to at-times busy SR 525, you can only hear and not see the traffic due to the well-placed foliage. Your view from the cottage is a lovely meadow and barn, pond and woodland with the beginning of a trail right out front. Your dog will love the off-leash freedom of this cottage, the grounds and trails being yours to wander. The cottage is a new remodel so everything is fresh and new, from the linens to tableware and cookware, to the furniture. From this lovely space we saw bald eagles, a great blue heron, deer, rabbits, chipmunks, lots of other birds and raptors and, yes, a coyote! The acreage is a wildlife preserve. You can see the owners’ house as you pull into the driveway but they are really not a presence unless you call them or need something – then they are on the spot. We had a problem lighting the BBQ the first night and they had it fixed immediately. Great WiFi connection and satellite TV with quite a few current DVDs in stock. About 1 mile to a good market, Payless in Freeland, and a handful of restaurants as well, and the boat launch at Freeland Park. Enjoy coffee on the front landing in the morning and take in the tranquil view.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
