Perfect place to enjoy a relaxing vacation.
Perfect place to enjoy a relaxing vacation.
Serenity is the perfect name for this cottage. The area is very beautiful and its a nice quiet place to relax. We really enjoyed how clean the inside was and the room we had. We appreciated all the amenities provided. I also really liked walking in the mornings and evenings outside around the property. The trees with the hanging moss were so pretty. Mary was so easy to work with on booking her property. She really worked with me on everything we requested. I have already recommended this property to my mom and dad. The Marshwalk is only a mile away from this cottage and is a great place to go spend the day or evening. Thanks again Mary for everything. You have a lovely place and we appreciate you sharing it with us!

My husband, myself, and our 2 children (ages 3 and 7) had a wonderful stay at this cottage. The cottage was spacious, clean, and had all of the amenities as home. Mary was wonderful to work with and we didn't have any problems checking in or out. The community was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed nightly swims in the community pool and practically had the pool to ourselves. I loved the gated entry way and the feeling of safety in the community. The location is superb. We fell in love with Huntington State Park and the Murrels Inlet Marsh Walk. In fact, my 7 year old wants to retire here!! Thanks for letting us use your home. We loved every minute of it.

First of all, I don't normally do reviews. This cottage setting was too nice to not give the owners credit for their efforts. The cottage was just as the pictures show. Everything was in its place, clean, and fresh. The guard at the gate was friendly and had our keys and paperwork when we pulled up. We drove through the most beautiful setting of old trees that had Spanish moss that touched the ground. We had 2 parking spots in front of the cottage. We walked in and loved it right away. The owners thought of everything. There was a little container in the kitchen with some essentials (spare toothbrush, popcorn, chocolate candy bar). There were even some vcr and dvd movies that you could watch. The bathrooms were stocked with toiletries (tissue, soap, shampoo). The beds and chairs were comfortable, the wireless internet was fast, and there were ceiling fans everywhere, even on the back porch. We enjoyed eating breakfast on that back porch since there was a great table and chairs out there. The golf course looked immaculate and the 18th green and fairway were just a few yards away. Walking around the plantation development was easy and beautiful. The cottage is pet friendly and our little dog enjoyed the vacation as much as we did. The pool and clubhouse were a short walk from the cottage. A short drive by car and we were at the Huntington Beach. We were only 20 minutes by car from all the activities that we wanted at Myrtle Beach. There are some great restaurants in Murrells Inlet, not far from the cottage. The cottage was very welcoming and comfortable. Our visit went way too fast.

We had a wonderful time at Serenity with another couple. The grounds of Wachesaw Plantation and the view from the screened porch are lovely. So very peaceful, quiet and calm. The guys enjoyed the golf course. The cottage was clean and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen, new comfortable couch and bedding. It looks just like the photos. The location is centrally located to Brookgreen Gardens, Huntington State Park, good restaurants in Murrells Inlet and shopping in nearby Pawleys Island. Mary was easy to work with and very helpful. Serenity is a really good choice for a vacation stay. Thank you Mary!

Owner response: Your welcome Linda....I am so glad that you enjoyed the cottage and that everything went well. It was a pleasure working with you also. Thank you for mentioning our new sofa and bedding. We also just replaced the air conditioning unit so that works great and is extremely quiet. Please keep us in mind for any future vacations. Mary
Beyond my wildest dreams.
Beyond my wildest dreams.
My words could never describe the beauty of this place. I wish I could post pictures of the sunsets, the beaches, the wildlife and the landscaping all around me. I am currently half way through my month long stay here. I have thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings at Wachesaw Plantation. My family is coming here to join me in just a few days and I cannot wait for them to settle in here. While walking my dog, I caught a picture of a gorgeous sunset on my camera and as an added treat snapped a photo of a huge owl in the trees near the water! You just never know what you will see while you are here. Huntington Beach Park is absolutely the best beach around. I decided to pay 75$ for a yearly pass instead of 5$ per person. This is good at any SC state park until the end of July 2013. I plan to use it everyday while I am here and return next year and use it then. It is a great deal. The 4th of July we went to the Marshwalk for a delicious dinner @ Daves Dockside then watched a spectacular fireworks display! When the rest of my family gets here I plan to enjoy the kiddy pool with my 2 yr old grandson... Thank you so much Mary and John for making my first long term vacation so enjoyable!! It has been a true blessing. <3

Serenity Cottage Lives up to its Name!
Serenity Cottage Lives up to its Name!
Lovely cottage and certainly lives up to its name, Serenity. Rooms are both cozy and spacious, plenty of thick soft towels, comfortable beds and sitting areas. The front and back porches offer views of towering twisted oaks draped with spanish moss, and resurrection fern. Squirrels, cardinals, thrushes, thrashers, chickadees and more provide a symphony of bird song and amusement for our golden-mix and ourselves. Just outside the back porch, we watched a turtle climb up from the pond area and lay its eggs in sand under a tree. The cottage itself is a destination and the grounds surpass the cottage, manicured in a Brookgreen Gardens way, the trees themselves are works of natures art. Lots of lovely paths to walk our golden mix, friendly grounds keepers and neighbors. We are not golfers, but the greens were beautiful to look at. This cottage is away from the maddening crowd but close enough to all attractions. Mary was very accessible and easy to work with. I would have given the cottage four stars for some minor items. If you plan on cooking you will find that the teflon pans need replacing as well as some of the dishes. However, our experience at the cottage was so delightful that I gave it five stars anyway. I would highly recommend Serenity Cottage and plan on returning there next time we are in the area. Thanks Mary, it has been a wonderful experience!

Owner response: Thank you Linda for the wonderful review. I'm so glad you mentioned that we need new frying pans and some dishes. We don't get down to our cottage very often so the only way I can find out about these kinds of things is from our guests. New pans are on the way. Can you please let me know what else you thought needed replacing. Thanks so much and I hope to see you back again soon.

What a RELAXING weekend. The area is one of the most inviting I had the pleasure of staying. I travel alot and have used HomeAway before and so far this one was the best. I am a huge golfer and all I can say is what a fun course to play. There is so much to do in the area and the restaurants were great. The inlet is a fun place to unwind after a long day on the course, which is less than 5 mins away. I have already recommended the place to my family and friends. Needless to say I will be returning ASAP.

Little Piece of Heaven!
Little Piece of Heaven!
I traveled to Murrells Inlet for the first time this past May and my fiance and I decided to stay a week in a cottage rental as opposed to our usual decision of a hotel. Lets just say this is what we will be doing from now on! The time we had in this cottage was AMAZING! The house is so cozy inside and out. It does not make you feel like you are in a rental property or a timeshare but rather as if you are house-sitting for a close friend. The master bedroom is very spacious and the master bath was huge! My fiance and I both instantly fell in love with the front and back porches. Being from the "North" we were excited about the traditional southern architecture and the relaxing vibes it released. The cottage was a beautiful place to stay but the beauty did not stop at the doors. Wachesaw Plantation is a natural wonder of its self. Just driving to and from the cottage to the guard shack we were both in awe at what we saw daily. Beautiful plantation style homes were on each side of a tree-lined street. The large canopies stretched over the street toward one another almost as if to shake hands in the sky. The golf course flowed through the plantation which provided a few peeks at the fascinating holes. This was definitely one of the most intriguing and well-kept courses I have ever played. Overall my experience here was like none other. My fiance enjoyed it so much she has already been planning our trip back next season. We thank John and Mary again for letting us share their amazing cottage. Their southern hospitality made an already great experience just that much better!
