Blueberry Mt. Retreat is absolutely beautiful, true to the pictures. Clean, bright, with any amenity needed. I chose the vacation rental because I am afraid of bed bugs one might find in a hotel, even four stars. I checked first thing--clean, no bugs, haha. The beds have high quality, comfortable mattresses just like hotels. We were traveling with a baby, so the fully furnished house (kitchen, laundry, etc.) was heaven sent. We cooked breakfast every morning and grilled every day except our day at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge TN. Groceries are a little expensive in NC, but imagine the money we saved not eating in restaurants with 7 people. The big plus was being able to take our boxer along because she is just like a child and couldn’t be left behind for a week. The hot tub was delicious. We used this in the evening after a full day of activities and supper. We did not use the game room because we had activities planned every day, but my husband did check out the pool table. He said the game room was very nice. You feel like you’re completely alone in the mountain except for the rare car’s tires crunching on the gravel, traveling up the mountain to another cabin. I am originally from the country and an early riser, so coffee on the porch, watching the sun rise and early night listening to nature, was beautiful. Of course this was summer with tree cover; in winter, you could probably see other cabins, but still completely private. There are lots of activities. We came in from Tennessee over the Tail of the Dragon (US 129), a motorcyclist and sports car’s dream, and my city-born son thought this was the coolest thing ever. We went white water rafting on the Nantahala River, ziplinning through the tree canopy, rode the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad through the Nantahala Gorge, swam in Finger Lake of Fontana Lake, fished, and tubed, all in Bryson City. We attended the famous Cherokee play, “Unto These Hills” in Cherokee. We also drove over the Smoky Mountains, through the National Park, to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood, a beautiful drive. One can stop and visit Clingman’s Dome at the summit. Be prepared to have your ears pop. On the way back, we were stopped by an elk herd crossing. The huge males were awesome. We had an amazing time, good clean family fun.

Manager response: This family was a delight to rent to, we & the owners work hard to keep this cabin clean & pleasant to the renters that vacation here...We realize that a happy customer is a returning customer, and that word of mouth means al lot. We hope that the madden Family will return some day. Sandi Brockett
My family had an amazing week at your Blueberry Mountain Home!! The house is open and bright but still feels like a cabin with everything we needed to make big family meals. We BBQ'd on the grill several nights while while the kids played in the hot tub. The lake at the bottom of the road was so much fun, the kids fished every evening and met some other families with kids staying nearby. They looked forward to going to the valley and playing in the HUGE football field and shuffleboard too. This is our 4th time to this area and this is by far the nicest rental home we have stayed in. We will definitely be back next year. We might even come up this August!!
