My wife and I spent two weeks in this is a pleasant, modern apartment in a building that is approximately 150 years old. The living room/kitchen areas are particularly nice, as is the bathroom. The bedroom is comfortable and functional. The fact that the toilet is on the other side of the bedroom from the shower/bathroom struck my wife and I as somewhat odd, but is actually quite common in 19th century apartments. For the traveler, the apartment has a great deal of convenient storage. While the HD television is quite nice, the few channels in English wore thin after a few days. The apartment’s location is excellent. It is only a 5 minute walk to the Pompidou Center,10-15 minutes from Notre Dame, close to the heart of Le Marais, and less than 30 minutes from many other major sites. A Metro stop was literally at the door, as was a small grocery. The street itself, while not the most scenic, always felt safe. Extremely close to the apartment is the Musee des arts et metiers. Although usually not listed on the highlights of Paris, this museum is well worth a brief visit. Not to be missed is its collection of old cars (including a propeller-driven car) and airplanes housed in a wing that is a former church. Finally, it was very pleasant working with A Part of Paris. Whether it was making our reservations, checking us in upon arrival, or answering a question or two during our stay, they were pleasant, professional, and understood that they were there to serve.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 3:
This property is located in the beautiful and trendy Marais - a historical area of Paris, where you can still find original and enchanting medieval and 17th Century architecture, despite the redesign of Paris in 19th Century.
Consequently, it is a highly popular area with tourists thanks to the charm of the small streets, beautiful boutiques, cute cafes and restaurants, romantic architecture and lighting. It is also full of museums and tourist sites like the Pompidou Centre, Archives National, Musee Picasso… The Marais is also where Fashion Week takes place 3 or 4 times a year, where most 'atelier' are based.
The Marais is made up of 2 of Paris' districts - the 3rd and the 4th. Both are beautiful, the 4th tending to be more touristic and the 3rd, more residential and quiet.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
This apartment is light and spacious for a couple or a good size for a group of 4. It's located on rue au Maire which is about 100 metres from Arts et Metier station, with a supermarket a few doors down. Very convenient. It's 5/7 minutes walk to 4 different metro stations: Rambuteau, Reaumur Sebastopol, Etienne Marcel, and Chatelet. Chatelet is one of Paris' largest metro stations giving you access to 5 different metro lines and 3 different RER lines, one of which RER B, goes to Orly and Charles de Gaulle.
Walking south from your apartment on rue St Martin, you'll reach the Seine, in about 10 minutes, with the stunning sight of Notre Dame Cathedral on your left and the Conciergerie on your right. You could then walk to the Louvre in about 20 mins, a stunning walk along the river with the Eiffel Tower in sight, aswell as other monuments.
It's a fanastic central area of Paris providing supermarkets, independent food stores, wine shops and great bakeries all within 5 mins from the apartment.
