Our cabin has become a home and from home for our family and is anything but an ordinary vacation rental. Warm and cozy, be ready to put your food in the fridge and settle in with your feet up for a few days. Take out the boats on the lake or just sit back and take in the fresh mountain air. The views of the Aspens are amazing. Get a little breeze and watch the tree tops sway from side to side. We want our home to become your new hideaway for your family to enjoy for years to come. ***** Sorry - No Pets ***** The Cabin at Vega is two story and 1,200 sq. ft. There’s plenty of parking for vehicles, boat or atv trailer. Vega has 3 boat launches or you can put in the canoe and kayaks at any shoreline. Vega is known for its rainbow trout. Fishing can be done from your boat, our canoe, kayaks or from shore. Bring your mountain bikes and cruise the 8 mile or so loop around the perimeter of the lake. Enjoy a great meal or a cold beer at the Vega Lodge or stay home and prepare a home cooked meal in our comfortable kitchen. The cabin is stocked and ready for you with linens, pillows, garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, basic first aid items, dishes, utensils, napkins, spices, and split wood for camp fires. Just bring food, drinks, and clothing for the season, sunscreen, outdoor gear and your favorite book. There are 2 kayaks and 1 canoe available at no additional charge. You can fish, float or get some great exercise cruising around the lake. * The canoe and Kayaks will be loaded on a trailer fitted with a 2' hitch. You'll just need a vehicle to tow the trailer down to the lake. They could also be loaded either into a truck or on top of a utility rack for transport. The kayaks are Ocean Kayaks, Scupper Pro open top single person and medium size. Kayakers must be at least 14 years of age and have appropriate skill level. A separate liability agreement is required for anyone using the canoe and or kayaks. Life jackets are available in for those 90lbs to mid-size adults. We have no XL sizes. Here's something that might interest a fisherman and kids. We've got a few crawfish traps at the cabin that you're welcome to use. Bring your favorite recipe or use ours. We've hit ait big on a few sets. Otherwise, a small handfull could be expected. We have everything you need to experience some truly delicious rocky mountain crawfish. There’s often even bait waiting for you in the freezer. It’ll be an experience to remember. Water, water, water… Is our most valuable resource at the cabin. We bring our water up from Collbran 300 gallons at a time and ask that our guests be water conscious and practice responsible usage. The cabin has a 1,200 gallon cistern and will always be full when you arrive. Our family of 6 can stay for 10 days without having to replenish our water supply. If there is anything you need and forgot to bring, use ours and simply let us know what you used so that we can replace those items for our next guest. Critters you'll find in the cabin include; an antelope shoulder mount and hides/furs including rocky mountain elk, mule deer, bobcat, red fox and pine martin. A full bobcat mount and bear rug are at the taxidermist and should be arriving soon. The hummingbirds provide hours of aerial entertainment and the chipmunks are plentiful and love the deer food we put out for them.

We’ll do our best to accommodate these requests. We’re confident you’ll find our home to be unlike any other vacation rental you may have visited. We also know that it’s your family memories you’ll be leaving with that will enrich your lives for years to come. The cabin experience, setting and solitude has certainly enriched ours. Clean and Ready: After each guest, my wife and I personally clean every nook and cranny of the cabin. Beds are stripped and remade, furniture is moved, the shower, toilet and sinks are bleached. The fridge is wiped out and the floors are vacuumed, swept and moped. Cleaned towels, wash clothes and dish rags are set out and drinking water is re-filled. The pellet stove is prepped and the more firewood is split.

About the owner: Our Cabin at Vega has been a wonderful getaway for our family and friends. Our family has stayed in many rental homes, from Mexico to Washington State to Alaska. We have used our experiences vacationing in other homes to make your stay in ours the most comfortable and enjoyable.
We’ve thought of just about everything! Let us know how we can help make your time at the cabin an unforgettable one. It’s your new home away from home.
We'll always be there to check you in, get you aquainted and answer any questions you might have.
Why the Owner Chose Grand Mesa: Vega Reservoir is far enough away from Grand Junction that you know you're in the mountains, yet you could be skiing or touring wine country within one hour of stepping outside the front door.
Vega also is a popular fishing destination. It's stocked with rainbow trout and has seen some 'toads' - aka, really large fish, emerge from water. The Vega Lodge has a bait shop just across the lake. Reccomendation for bait... worms or powerbait during the summer months and small shrimp when ice fishing.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Vega Reservoir is just an hours drive from Grand Junction, but you feel like you're on your own mountain top. From boating to fishing, snowmobiling to sleding, there is just so much to do in and out of the State Park.
