About the owner: I am retired…Had a wonderful life as a dancer and filmmaker. Performed with several “modern” companies, but primarily Dance Collective in Boston (a company that existed for 30 years!). Was Executive Producer and Director of the WGBH New Television Workshop that produced new video genres – mostly video art, video dance and some music, drama and poetry. (WGBH is PBS station in Boston). My last endeavor was as a founder and co-creator of Art 21. This includes a PBS national prime-time broadcast focusing on contemporary artists and many other projects world-wide and still going strong!. See www.art21.org
I am married to Andy Griffiths who is happily still working!! He retired for about a month and then took this job at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. He is Adminstrative Dean and CFO ( with a brief stint as Interim and 6th President). He is entering his 9th year!
Why the Owner Chose Southwest Harbor: I love Maine. I went to camp (the Luther Gulick Camps) for 9 years on Sebago Lake in Maine. We think we have the best view of sea and mountains on the island. We have added a guest house and pond to the property. The main house is an old farmhouse built in the early 1800’s (maybe 1825?) and there also is a barn.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse: Top asset is the extraordinary view. Great for morning coffee on the front porch. View from the third floor – eight dormers – is spectacular and you can see the sunrise without getting out of bed! Sunlight in the kitchen in the morning is beautiful. Sunlight from the South and West in the living room from noon to sunset. I love that it is an old house but it has been insulated and has new thermal windows so it is never damp or chilly. It has heat, but it is rarely needed.
