Peaceful and private waterfront retreat, perfect for solos and families or other small groups alike. Enjoy the pristine Puget Sound shoreline without having wait in line for a ferry! Camano Island is just 75 minutes north of Seattle, and boasts two State Parks, numerous beaches and hiking trails, gorgeous views and vintage summer experiences. Roast marshmallows in the fire pit or on the beach, go crabbing and clamming when allowed, beachcomb, hunt for antiques in the many funky stores nearby, ride your bikes around the island, explore art galleries, and enjoy quality time with friends and family. How about a round of golf? Camaloch golf course is just minutes away. The zip-lining adventure at nearby Canopy Tours NW (10m away) is FANTASTIC. Or take a day trip to nearby LaConner, Anacortes or the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon. One of my favorite day trips is to the Fairhaven section of Bellingham, less than an hour north.
Large (2200 s.f.) one-level home with sweeping water views, large windows and lots of light. Wraparound deck and huge patio, with stairs to private beach. The home sits on a bluff point above the water, providing privacy and great views. Take the stairs down to our privately owned 77' beach, or a short 5 minute walk to the beach using the road. Access to two other private beaches and picnic areas in the Country Club area. Enjoy coffee in the morning sun, and watch the Eagles that often perch in the treetops right in front of you. Listen to the waves lap the shore while you read a good book or catch up with friends and family. Comfortable furniture and beds, everything you need to relax and enjoy. King size pillowtop bed in master, Queen in 2nd bedroom, King (two extra-long pillowtop twins side by side) in 3rd bedroom, and bunkbeds (w/crib mattress trundle) in 4th (kids') bedroom. There is also a loft twin in the playroom. Sleeps 5-6 adults and 2-4 kids very comfortably. The house is extremely kid friendly, with lots of great toys and space.
Hike the trails at Camano Island State Park on the south end of the island, kayak or crab at Utsalady Bay on the north end, or view eagles and great blue herons. Hummingbirds abound. Rent a boat at Cama Beach State Park, and spend some time at the Center for Wooden Boats. Small county parks at Utsalady Bay and the nearby Cavalero Beach offer boaters convenient launch sites.
It really is the 'shortest distance to far away'!

This 120-acre preserve lies tucked away between a forested hillside and the southwest corner of Livingston Bay, an important estuarine habitat and a northern portion of Port Susan bay. Once a tidal saltwater marsh, the area was diked for farming in the 1940s, and acquired in 1999 by the county. With several different habitats, the preserve attracts a wide variety of birds; around 125 species have been recorded here. Near the trailhead, steps lead up to two viewing platforms and allow access over the fragile dike, where you can go down to the beach and clamber over a thick tangle of drift logs to reach the shoreline. If the weather's good, views of the Cascades dominate the skyline to the east.
A peaceful, seaside marsh with a boardwalk and a meandering quarter-mile path, its silence broken only by the rapid-fire chirr of kingfishers and the high-pitched shriek of a bald eagle in the upland forest. Part of a wildlife habitat area, English Boom is also a key birding spot in the Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival. 360-679-7373 or www.whidbey.com/camparks/coparks.html
My favorite gallery (of many) on the Island. 2345 Blanche Way, 360-387-2759, www.matzkefineart.com. Every May thousands of visitors arrive for the annual Camano Studio Tour. Sixty or so artists open their studios throughout the island to visitors during this popular spring event. Learn more: 425- 239-6921 or www.camanoarts.org.
Art galleries abound on Camano Island! The Island is a great spot for birdwatching, and beachcombing for shells, seaglass and driftwood. Act like a local and head to Elger Bay Grocery to buy a fishing license, bait, and ice cream novelties for the kids.
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: I love spending time on Camano and when I can't be there I love knowing that this house is being enjoyed by friends, family, and perhaps you.
Why the Owner Chose Camano Island: My home-away-from-home is all about family and friends sharing a special time at the beach. The accessibility of this beautiful retreat and just the general peaceful feel of the place is why I bought here. No ferry lines!!
The Unique Benefits at this House: Gracie's Beach House is easy to get to and yet feels worlds away. I walk in the door and immediately relax. Even just one night is rejuvenating. Enjoy walks on the beach, cooking for friends, relaxing with a good book, going for a long walk, entertaining, and gazing at the view. There are so many beautiful places, neat shops and cozy spots to visit on Camano Island and nearby Stanwood. In the summer, I love to stargaze and enjoy the quiet and warmth of the night.
