Peaceful country setting on the Olivas de Oro olive orchard neighboring vineyards and wine tasting. Rancho Olivas de Oro is a working organic olive ranch with 140 acres of century old olive trees. We also raise Katahdin sheep to graze on the grass and prune the lower branches on the olive trees. Lambs are born April through August.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of the country with the benefits of being close to other activities. We are centrally located, just 15 miles to the downtown areas of Paso Robles, Templeton and Atascadero, 38 miles to Cambria and Hearst Castle, and 29 miles to San Luis Obispo. You've got lots of choices. Take the day to tour the many wineries in the area, take a scenic drive to the coast and Hearst Castle, or visit San Luis Obispo for a day of shopping in the boutiques. We are located on The Creston Winery Trail and are part of The Backroads Wineries. Gourmet meals await in downtown Paso Robles or make your own in our well-appointed full kitchen. Finish your day by gazing at the stars by the fireplace with a glass of local wine.
The farm house has been newly remodeled. The master bedroom (The Sevillano Room) features a California King bed, lounge, writing desk and private bath. The second bedroom (The Mission Room) features an Eastern King bed and a comfy reading chair. The third bedroom (The Arbequina Room) features a Double bed and a sitting area.
There is a lot of privacy in the home. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house and are separated by a large common living area which includes a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and sitting area. There is a porch with seating in the front of the house and a porch and sunken patio in the back of the house. Enjoy the gas barbeque, patio seating, dining, and fireplace in the sunken patio overlooking the rolling hills of the orchard. If that's not enough room for you, wander around the 160 acres of olive trees or stop in the tasting room to try some or our olive oils, olives, vinegars, dirty martini mix, and ranch goodies.
We start off your stay with a bottle of local wine and some of our olive oils and vinegar with bread. The showers are stocked with our olive oil soap. We also provide coffee and sweeteners.

This was the perfect location for two couples meeting up between Walnut Creek and Pasadena for a wine tasting weekend. It all started with a cold bottle of local wine that was waiting for us when we arrived at the end of a short dirt road. With the layout, each couple had their own wing of the house, so we all had our privacy. As for wine tasting, after we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at "home", we drove the 15 or so mile up to Highway 46. From there we spent the day wandering the country side back to the Rancho, enjoying a wide selection of wine, and had a lovely lunch at Cass. It was so nice to return to the Rancho for a BBQ under the stars. While wine tasting, we kept referring to which wines we could enjoy that night in "The Pit", the sunken patio. Besides the sheep and the dogs at the ranch, we were also entertained by the rabbits and ground squirrels. Lovely location, pictures do not begin to do it justice, cozy home. All in all, a really nice weekend. Thank you Marti and Frank, Susan & PhilRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

This was a delightful place to spend a few days. House was clean and everything we needed was supplied. There was plenty of room for three couples. Even though it is isolated, it was convenient to use as a base for exploring the Paso Robles wineries. It was too cold for us to enjoy the outdoor living space that was provided. We were able use the gas grill to cook some lamb chops available from Rancho Olivas de Oro. We would recommend this to our friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Rancho Olivas de Oro is a quiet ranch property situated on 2 winery trails and is ideal for wine tasting tours. The Loading Chute Restaurant, recommended by Sunset Magazine, is only 2 miles away. There are other restaurants closer, but there is a great selection in downtown Paso Robles, Atascadero, and Templeton (only 15 miles away). The 3 towns also offer shopping, antiquing, and exploring. We're glad that our guests enjoyed our farm raised grass fed lamb and the central location for their touring.

We had a fantastic time at the Rancho Olivas De Oro orchard. The house is in a working farm which is incredibly nice and peaceful and close to Paso Robles wine county. The full size kitchen and good living space helped make it a very smooth and enjoyable trip with family and kids. Marti and Frank are incredible hosts and took great care of us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We didn't know what to expect, but were extremely well surprised, which means that the pictures don't give this place justice. We were 3 couples with 2 infants and the place was perfect for spending the Thanksgiving holiday. Plenty of room, large central living room, perfectly adequate clean kitchen with all amenities, except for a wine bottle opener to open the wine bottle the owners left us as present. How could there not have been a wine opener :-) I think we forgot the one we bought, so there should be one there now. The olive farm was incredible and we were able to walk all around the big olive trees. Also, the Paso Robles area was such a nice surprise to us. It was wine country, but away from the big tourism with many newer, specialty wineries that we could visit and taste. Our baby loved the Habanero olive oil that was available the ranch's own tasting room. The house also had a cozy porch with large outdoor dining table. The babies were able to run around without any problems or worries from us, and they loved the two big friendly dogs behind the sheep fence. In the evenings we set up a telescope and were able to truly enjoy the clear starry sky with full view of Jupiter. Generally, this is definitely a place we would go back to. It was unfortunate that the owners were away that weekend, but maybe we'll meet them next time.Owner response: Thank you for staying with us and for such a nice review. The wine opener problem has been resolved and we have a new one in the house. I imagine that one of our guests borrowed it for one of their day trips. We hope you'll be able to stay again and we would like to meet you. We are there most weekends and enjoy meeting our guests. When we are not there, Rachel is available on-site in the tasting room to assist with questions about the property and the area.

Gnarled 100 year old olive trees, open space, lamb sausage, fine olive oil, specialized vinegars, good friends, seclusion with privacy, great BBQ all with a full moon rising. Thank you Marti and Frank. Although we live in nearby San Luis Obispo, this was a perfect weekend retreat for us and two couples that are long time friends. Remote with all the amenities we needed. Enjoyed fine wine tasting nearby. If you are looking for a wonderful rural Central Coast experience, this is it. Owner response: John & Kay, It was so nice to meet you. Thank you for sharing some of your time with us. We really enjoyed seeing the festive decorations around the patio. It was a perfect weekend to enjoy the patio and the full moon. Marti & Frank

The Olivas de Oro house sits in the middle of an olive orchard. Each morning we awoke to the sounds of the bells on the sheep wondering out to the pasture. We went with my best friend and found a wonderful place to just enjoy each other's company. The Menacho's are great hosts. We'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Cheryl. We really enjoyed having you guys for the weekend.

A group of 6 friends stayed at this property and really enjoyed it! It is very clean, very well maintained and appears just as it does in the pictures! The Ranch is very nice, the sheep and dogs are very close by, but do not bother at all. The olive oil from the Ranch is very delicious, we planned and shopped on Saturday to make sure we had some to take home. I would recommend this to my friends and family as a great location to enjoy the Paso Robles area!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: We've been growing and making olive oil since 1999. We love good friends, good food, and good wine. We enjoy entertaining and cooking and are always trying new things. Our original olive orchard was in Oroville in Northern California. It was a great orchard, but not in the place where we wanted to be. We were lucky and received an offer from a developer to buy the land. He wanted the land and we wanted the trees! It was our opportunity to move our trees to the land that we wanted. We purchased the ranch in Creston and moved 2000 century old olive trees from Oroville to our ranch in Creston in 2007.
Why the Owner Chose Paso Robles:
We had been coming to Paso for over 20 years to visit friends and attend the wine festival. We always hated to leave. We enjoy the sense of community and quality of life, the beautiful countryside, good wines and dining.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
We love the serenity of the land and the peacefulness of the sheep grazing while listening to the tinkling of their bells. Star gazing, sitting next to the outside fireplace and enjoying a glass of wine from a neighboring winery is the best.
