  This spring we spent 1 month in SE AK, Ketchikan-Juneau-Haines-Kluane PK, Skagway. This was the best VRBO we stayed in (all were good). Christine and Brian are superb hosts. There was some construction going on in the front drive and Christine was very accomodating, for what was a minor inconvenience - they're just that kind of folks. We've offered an invite for them to visit us in the lower 48! The facility is awesome - views across the channel to a snow dotted mtn with mountain goats (others watched bears). Evenings a tidal shore bonfire - watch the cruise ships depart and be glad to be in this VRBO! Excellent furnishings inside. Juneau itself was also a delight. Best food on the trip (Pizza, burgers, and Fresh Halibut Fish and Chips to die for!!) - ask Christine for spots to go. Beautiful hikes. Juneau and Douglas Island is like a large 'H'. Juneau downtown/docks on the East end of the 'crossbar'. This VRBO across the Douglas bridge on the west side of the 'crossbar'. You are away from it all, but still minutes from downtown. Up the NE arm of the 'H', beach picnic tables where you can watch for whales and great stream fishing. You'll have no regrets booking in here!

  Better than advertised, and a great host. Out of the city, but close to everything. I have used VRBO all round the world, this is worth the money.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  The Tidewatcher has one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever experienced – from the bedroom and more panoramically from the family room. You can not only watch the action in the channel – boats, fish, bald eagles, seals, etc. -- but you also have a great look at Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts. Aside from the view, the family room is supremely comfortable for enjoying the fireplace and media. For my wife and me, a most pleasant surprise was the great sleep we got on the extremely comfortable bed. For one night there were five of us, and we used the Murphy double bed which was also very comfortable. The grounds of this place are outstanding as well. The deck was a great place for a glass of wine and for moon watching. I took pictures of the many flowers blooming in August. We also had a couple of bonfires and even fried some fish I had caught from the back yard. I would watch for the fish jumping and step out to catch some silver and pink salmon. The location of the Tidewatcher is very appealing, on North Douglas Island. It is away from traffic but only a couple miles away from downtown. I enjoyed taking long runs toward the northern tip of the island. Furthermore, the proprietors are very thoughtful people; for example, consider the goodies basket in the kitchen. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Tidewatcher for experiencing Juneau.

  Stayed at this true 'getaway' in May 2011. What a treat! The views of the mountains, downtown Juneau, and ocean are spectacular. Don't dare put the blinds down in the bedroom at night, or you will miss the bliss of waking up to the sight of Mount Juneau looming outside your window (and, in our case, seeing mountain goats grazing and jostling on the moutainside). The living room is roomy and relaxing ... again the view can't be mentioned enough ... plus, there is a woodburner to make the sometimes cool nights toasty warm or add a bit of romance. The proprietors know what relaxing is all about. They have stocked the rental with movies, books, games, local tourist info, snacks, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and even cozy down throws to cuddle up under. Great city, great location, great relaxation. Ahhhhhhh! Too bad we had to leave.
