About this property

This architect-designed compound is serenely tucked away among seven acres of rolling fields and meadows in prestigious Oyster Pond. There are sleekly-styled modern touches throughout the classic cape both inside and out, plus access to a private ocean beach, in addition to the pool and hot tub.

The open Living and Dining areas have a wall of south-facing glass doors and windows, that open out to a large fieldstone patio and the pool area. A large stone fireplace frames the Living area, while a floating stairway provides separation with the Dining area.

A true Chef's Kitchen anchors the open space, with a stunning granite and stainless steel cooking island, breakfast bar, and top-of-the-line appliances.

A vaulted ceiling hallway connects to a second living and entertaining area with fireplace. There are two Master Bedroom suites on the second floor at each end of the house. Both suites have full baths --one with a glass walk-in shower, the other with whirlpool tub and glass shower -- , and sweeping meadow and pool views.

There is an additional Bedroom and a Den on the first floor, and a Billiards Room with competition table, plus a Family/TV Room on the lower level. Wi-fi and all streaming services on four TVs.

The Guest suite in barn has its own, separate, woodside location. The second floor Bedroom suite has vaulted ceilings and beams, and full bath with shower. small fridge and coffee supplies for guests.

The heated gunite pool is 20 x 40-feet with a fieldstone surround, and poolside lounge area. In addition to the large fieldstone patio at the main house, there is an awning-shaded deck with outdoor living room and hot tub. Outdoor shower next to hot tub. gas bbq and built in charcoal grill give you a choice of outdoor cooking modes.

Behind 7 acres are hiking trails in State forest.

Included with the rental is the use of the owner's 2 kayaks and stand up paddle board to cross Oyster Pond to a private, sandy south shore, ocean beach (used by Presidents Clinton and Obama in past summers.) Motor boat rental can be arranged for beach access. Outdoor and indoor games galore to entertain..Crocquet, badminton, and a pool table... Wifi Cable TV . One week minimum rental,

Wonderful experience

Our group agrees that we have rarely had a more relaxing vacation and that this was attributable to this amazing home and property. I am almost reluctant to write a review as we wish this gem could remain a secret. The quiet in the night is refreshing while still being close to Edgartown and other "bustling" parts of the island. The swimming pool at the home was lovely. Unrelated to the house, we had dinner at Hooked and Atria and loved them both. Not much more to say as this is a great place and Martha's Vineyard is a wonderful vacation.

We rent only a few weeks each summer and enjoy our home the rest of the summer. This is our HOME not a rental property and we make it as comfortable as possible for ourselves, our friends and our renters.

Why they chose this property

Oyster Pond, one of the nicest Great Ponds on Martha's VIneyard is one of the best locations on Martha's VIneyard. There are few families who enjoy access to the Pond and beach...a short boat ride away. Both President Clinton and Obama used this beach when they were on MV. The Edgartown bike path is just at the end of Oyster Pond Road, so we are located perfectly to combine privacy and easy access to town, shopping and restaurants. Couldn't be better!

What makes this property unique

We especially like kayaking to the beach when we are not using our lovely pool. The pool has been designed to be as 'natural' as possible, set near a meadow with natural stones as its border.
