Mystic apartment description
Our 4 room apartment, the first floor of the 1879 historic home of Allen Avery, allows you the opportunity to get away from your every day routine and find yourself at the gateway to what has been aptly named Mystic Coast and Country. With beautiful hardwood floors and lots of sunny windows, this can be your home away from home for a short stay or a long, lazy summer. Located in the historic district, you can stroll amongst the other historic homes or shop and dine in the heart of downtown Mystic. You can walk across the historic bascule bridge and rent kayaks or canoes to explore the Mystic River, watch the 100 year old Sabino steam by going to and fro from Mystic Seaport or be on board the Argia as she passes under the bridge and gets ready to set sail. But be sure to enjoy an ice cream cone on the walk back home.
You can use the fully equipped kitchen to whip up a 5 course meal or grill up the fresh local catch of the day on the brick patio, ending the evening at the nearby pub or one of the theaters. The off-street parking area is surrounded by unique perennial gardens to be enjoyed by all and the house is both child and pet friendly, with some owner discretion with regards to the latter. It is a non-smoking accommodation and property.
Window air conditioners and ceiling fans cool things down in the summer and a powerful gas stove in the living room as well as electric baseboard heat keeps you warm when the temperatures start to drop. The apartment easily sleeps 6 with a king size bed in the bedroom and a double bed futon and full size sleeper sofa in the living room. The dining room accommodates 6 at the table, while the kitchen is eager to host a cozy breakfast, lunch or dinner for 2. There is one full bath. The layout of the apartment easily adapts for a family, two couples, or a girls’ only getaway. There is a flat screen TV, DVD, and stereo in the living room and another flat screen TV in the bedroom.

Great location! The home is located in the heart of Mystic. We were able to do a self-guided historic walking tour, eat at a number of the wonderful restaurants & shop at the quaint shops downtown. The apartment was clean and spacious. Anne-Marie was very helpful with providing suggestions for things to do in the area. My only complaint is that the bed was very uncomfortable, it felt like a cheap stiff mattress top. But even with that, we would absolutely stay here again.

Wonderful Downtown Spot
Wonderful Downtown Spot
I had the pleasure of staying this past weekend with a group of ladies celebrating an upcoming wedding. AnneMarie and her husband were wonderful hosts-answering all our questions and getting back to me immediatley when e-mailed. The house was immaculate, well equipped, and is perfectly located in the heart of beautiful downtown Mystic. We walked everywhere which made everything easier as parking is limited around town. I highly recommend this home...you will not be disappointed!

Great Place in a Great Location!
Great Place in a Great Location!
My husband, son, myself, and even my dog stayed in Anne-Marie's home for a week. It was wonderful! I could not believe how close we were to downtown Mystic (literally right around the corner) , which is just a wonderful place to visit (the shops, the eateries, the river). The apartment was very clean, had all of the amenities that we needed (a comfortable bed, plenty of seating, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, air conditioning, several fans), and allowed us to feel at home instead of cooped up in a hotel. We are hoping to visit again sometime, and we will definitely contact Anne-Marie to see if we can use her home again!

The house was fantastic!!!! The location couldn't be beat. Anne-Marie was a wonderful host. The property was incredibly clean, probably the cleanest house I have ever rented. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone!

Great girls getaway.
Hi Anne-Marie, I just wanted to let you know that my family and I had a wonderful time at your place. What a great location! We took advantage of being so close to town...shopped, ate and just relaxed. We ventured out to the casino and the village with all the shops. Your house was very cozy and warm, great place to celebrate a birthday with the girls. We would love to come back and we will recomment to family and friends. Thanks again for all your help! Tina

What a great location!
Hi Anne-Marie, I just wanted to let you know that my friends and I had a wonderful time at your place. What a great location! We took advantage of being so close to town...shopped, ate ice cream every day, and took a boat cruise. We ventured out to Abbott's one night, saw fireworks two nights, and went to the beach when the weather finally cooperated. Thanks again! Elizabeth

Wonderful location that can't be beat! Steps from downtown Mystic restaurants, shops, bridge, and seaport not too far either! Lovely home, perfect for our family. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Overall clean enough for us, but seems like house needs a deep cleaning.

Owner response: Based on the helpful details you gave me via email, I addressed the issue with my cleaning gal and she spent five hours today cleaning to the max!
The apartment is steps away from the main shops in beautiful Mystic; it is comfortable, clean and as depicted in the photos. The owner replied quickly to my emails and was very helpful and friendly when we arrived. The apartment has a washing machine and dryer - great for travellers. We were there on the weekend and did experience some noise as patrons left a neighbouring establishment.

Owner response: We apologize for the patrons. Unfortunately, the downside of being steps away from downtown is that you are steps from downtown and all the hustle and bustle that comes with it, especially in the high season!! Hopefully the inconvenience was minor.

About the owner: We live nearby and frequently complain to each other that there are so many things to do that it is hard to choose! We hope that you will have the same problem and would love to help you customize your visit to take advantage of all the opportunities this region can offer: history, art, nature, culture and theater; entertainment venues and outdoor activities of all sorts. Or if you are a lighthouse lover, there are more than half a dozen lighthouses to be sighted off the shores of southeastern Connecticut as well as several places on shore in Stonington, Mystic, Groton and New London to go to learn about them up close and personal. We love to travel and experience things as a native and want to offer that opportunity to our guests as well.
