Accommodations:  House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

How does a 4000 sq. ft., three year ‘new’ 'Green' 5 Star Energy house, at the end of the road sound?!?! Come enjoy the quiet side of the northwoods with all the amenities and then some. You'll feel like you're in Canada, with only the lake and state forest land to look at.

We look forward to sharing our very family friendly home with you on the beautiful two lake chain of Madeline and Carroll lakes - with over 500 acres of water and five islands to explore! You'll love how quiet it is despite being only a few minutes to "the Island" of Minocqua.

BEDROOMS
Master - Unwind on your king size pillow top bed overlooking the lake, with the added convenience of the attached master bath. A chest of drawers and closet are provided.
Guest - Look out on the lake from your queen sized bed. The room also has a large closet with shelves.
"The Bunkhouse" - Your kids and 'kids at heart' will have a ball in this room. There's a pine log twin bunk bed and 2 separate 'camping or cot' bunk beds for sleeping up to six in this room.

KITCHEN
You'll love the open floor plan kitchen that flows into the great room and the magnificent views of the lake. The kitchen is completely equipped with a gas range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coffee maker, toaster, blender, waffle maker, and pancake griddle. The home owner loves to cook, so all of the cooking/baking pots pans and utensils you could use are also ready for you. All of the dinnerware (plates and utensils) is also included.

LIVING SPACES
The home features a 30 foot wide by 24 foot deep Great Room complete with a 50 inch HD TV with satellite TV, DVD player and surround sound. A 'gas' wood burning stove keeps thing toasty on those chilly mornings. You'll love the fresh air sitting area on the lovely screened in porch just off the great room. A mud room with washer/gas dryer and laundry tub is accessible from the outdoor deck. Enjoy eating on this outdoor deck while sitting on the patio furniture that overlooks the lake. A Weber gas grill is available too. Downstairs, under the Great Room, is a large rec room to play in with an additional TV with PS II video game.

OUTSIDE and RECREATION
Just steps outside the lower level entry door, you'll find ultimate relaxation in either the spacious 5-6 person hot tub or the nearby patio fire pit with pine wood seating. A few steps further find you on your way down the beautifully landscaped brick paver steps to the lake. At the lake, test your nerve on the rope swing and enjoy some sun on the swim raft. There's a shallow sand area to play in, but “Adventure Island”, 300 yards from our pier, has a full on sand beach and is great for kids to explore. On the boat rack, you'll find a sea kayak, kevlar solo canoe and sportsman canoe for the paddlers. There's 16ft. fishing row boat for the fishermen at the pier. Speaking of fishing, several guides regularly fish the two lake chain for muskie, bass, northern, walleye and panfish. The eagles are wise to this too as you'll regularly see them perched in the trees or flying over the lake looking for their next meal.

Did we mention that from the end of the driveway you’re about 100 yards from the eight miles of the Madeline Lake state trail for hiking, biking and groomed xc skiing?!?! This is definitely one of the main reasons we bought the property. The 'back door' entrance you have to the trail offers you a variety of beautiful scenery on beginner and intermediate trails winding around three lakes.

Sunrise on the Lake at the End of the Road-Yet 7 Min. to Town!

Year Purchased: 2008

Why the Owner Chose Minocqua

We've owned a home in the area for the past 16 years and have been visiting the area for our whole lives. We just love it! We enjoy every season in the North woods. As cross country skiers, we really love the winters. Being only 4.5 hours from our home in Elgin, it's an easy trip for a week or a weekend.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We love the peace and quiet at the end of the road, yet how convenient it is to be 'in town' in a matter of a couple of minutes. Having the beautiful Madeline Lake trail right out our door makes us shake our head wondering how lucky we are that this is 'our backyard'. That's even before we look out on the lake and the wonderful state owned land.

A
Madeline Lake Trail

8 miles of hiking, groomed xc (classic) skiing, and mountain biking trails right out your door. This is a 'back door' entrance, so it's like your own private trail system in the backyard. The berry (rasp, black & blue) picking is awesome!

B
Sand Beach on A. I.

We like to call this state owned island "Adventure Island". Where the place marker is, is a wonderful sand beach you can paddle or row out to.

Owner's Map of Minocqua

We're the DiDomenico's, Jim, Becky, Tyler (8), Tessa (6) and Ivy (2). Jim is a musician with the band Underwater People based in Chicago and works during the snowy months as the Executive Director of Minocqua Winter Park and Nordic Center. Becky is an independent consultant for a research company. The kids are happy spending time at their 'place up north' and back in Elgin, IL where they attend school in the Burlington school district at Prairie View School.

Comfortably furnished, well kept, and generally wonderful

My wife and I, along with three other couples, spent a long weekend here for xc skiing and general north woods relaxation. We found the cabin cozy, comfortable, and spacious, perfect for a group nordic escape. Aside from the obvious luxuries of hot tub, fireplace, big screen TV, and well-equipped kitchen, the truly special highlights were the numerous bald eagles that kept us company outside the huge front windows and the out-the-door access to the Madeline Lake ski trails. Another plus was the treasure chest of kids toys on the lower level; our three collective babies were too young to enjoy most of the toys, but older kids will surely love having so much entertainment at hand. The owners go a step beyond with a super useful 5-page PDF they sends once you confirm your reservation, detailing all the essential info - even a full page on how to use the TV! Loved the ease of making arrangements and sharing the info with the others in our group. All the little things - like parking, garbage, kitchen and cleaning supplies, laundry - were well-explained and easy to manage. We look forward to returning to Madeline Lake, and thank the owners for sharing their place with us for a weekend. If you're looking for a place near Minocqua, grab this one if you can!

Canoeing, water skiing, hiking, wake boarding, tubing, kayaking, biking, jogging and good fishing, did I forget anything? This house had so many amenities that it suited every age group in our party. The kids and the (big kids-ADULTS) had a blast with the rope swing. Watching the bald eagles soar over both lakes was breath taking. Adventure Island was fun to explore and gave you a secluded feeling. We pretty much had the lake to ourselves or could take the channel over to the other lake which also feels very secluded. The house was very spacious and well decorated. We had an awesome stay....can't wait to go back!

Amazing Vacation Home!

My entire family goes on vacation once a year to various locations. We have been doing this for nearly 10 years and this was, by far, the best house we have stayed in! It is beautifully decorated, super comfortable, and has great amenities. Our family ranges in age from 62 to 1 and there was something for everyone! It's a perfect house for a family with or without small children. My youngest brother asked if we could come back here every year! I would highly recommend this house for your trip to the Northwoods.

Northwoods living at its finest!

Guest: Nordic G (IL)
Date of Stay: 04/25/11 Review Submitted: 04/25/11

By far the nicest and cleanest home that we've rented in our 16 years coming to the Northwoods. The house has every amenity that you could want--amazing kitchen, bricked fire-pit, roomy screened-in porch and spectaclar views of the sunrise from the greatroom. Moreover, the location simply can't be beat--at the end of a quiet road, on a tranquil lake, it's amazing that you can have such serenity just 5 minutes from downtown Minocqua. Can't wait to return this summer! George & Lisa S.

One of a kind rental. Don't Miss This Experience!!!!

We hate to share our secret, but this house is too special to keep to ourselves. We've returned to this house several times and absolutely love it. We've been visiting the area for 15 years and in our opinion, the setting, the view and the lake are unbeatable. Location is close to town and access to trails for picking berries, jogging, biking and skiing is fantastic. It's new. It's clean. And it's beautifully decorated and appointed. If I were buying a house this would be it. The owners couldn't be any nicer to deal with and extremely flexible and helpful. They treated us like family guests in their home.

Beautiful!

Guest: Cheryl (Chicago suburbs )
Date of Stay: 07/11/10 Review Submitted: 04/15/11

Our family has stayed here numerous times and it is our favorite vacation spot!  The house is beautiful.  It is decorated with a tasteful Northwoods flair, has a beautiful kitchen, nice bathrooms, stunning views, spacious living areas and everything you would want for a family vacation.  The location is perfect...quiet and peaceful but not too remote, yet close enough to all of the action.  We loved being close to hiking trails and berry picking, swimming in the lake, taking a ride in the canoe, and it is just a short ride to town where there are many restaurants, activities, and stores.
