Relax in the custom hot tub or with a drink on the outside daybed in this charming fully renovated (Santa Cruz Green Building Award 2008) former fisherman's cottage. Perfectly located one block from West Cliff Drive and an easy 3 block walk to Cowell's Beach; the Boardwalk, world-class surfing and downtown are all just a short stroll. The main house features a living room, dining room, fully-stocked kitchen (Aga stove, marble counters), and bathroom (double shower) with original vintage features. The main bedroom has a brand new comfortable queen mattress. The adorable separate self-contained studio cottage also has a queen bed, kitchenette and bathroom. The third building offers an additional bedroom with queen bed and a media/play room with flat screen television, extensive movie collection, Wii and games suitable for all ages. The upstairs loft in main house offers three twins (not recommended for small children - ladder access only).
The fully-landscaped yard profers a large sail shaded seating area with teak daybed and benches as well as a hot tub and heated outdoor shower for post-surfing clean up. A gas grill and large outdoor dining table is available for alfresco meals. If the evening gets chilly, fire up the outdoor heater and snuggle up to watch the stars while listening to the sea lion seranade!

About the owner: Adam is Australian and Marcy grew up in Santa Barbara, so we both grew up next to and loving the ocean. We spent 11 long years on the East coast starting our careers. When we moved back to California (Los Gatos) in 2004, we found ourselves spending every free moment in Santa Cruz. We drove by our beach house every weekend and contacted the owners to see if they'd sell; we won it in a bidding war several months later. What we 'won' was a dilapadated shack with no frame, holes in the floor, and rat-infested outbuildings. We slowly and painfully renovated and restored until we had the little 'jewel box by the sea' of which we had always dreamed! We enjoyed it with our three children (and almost constant visitors) until we recently were forced to acknowledge we were just too much family for such a little (yet, surprisingly functional!) home. Looking forward to retirement, when with any luck it will once again be our full time abode.
