'a Slice of Paradise'- Amazing Gulf Views-Walk to Downtown

My wife and I live in Gainesville and love to spend long weekends and vacations in this unique getaway town that resembles Florida of old and has so much history. You can visit the local historic sites, shop for antiques or just relax in a chair on the private beach area.
Every room in the townhome has a view of the water (either the Gulf or the Marina). The master bedroom has a queen bed with storage drawers underneath plus there is a full 'California-style' built in dresser/closet with plenty of storage. The master bedroom has a private balcony that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. The guest bedroom come complete with two twin beds the each also have trundle beds and storage drawers underneath. The view from the guest bedroom is the on-site marina (naviagable by small bay and flats boats only; ask for detals).
The living room has a full sized microfiber sleeper sofa with 2 matching chairs and a 32' flat screen television with built-in dvd player. There is a bar height corner dining suite with seating for upto 8 plus a breakfast bar in the kitchen with seating for an additional 3. The kitchen includes stainless appliances (fridge, stove, microwave, & dishwasher) plus beautiful granite countertops. All the dinnerware, utensils, and cookware are provided for your convenience.
The food choices are outstanding. There are a variety of local seafood markets where you can purchase fresh seafood including locally caught fish, stone crabs, blue crabs, oysters, and crabs. The kitchen is completely set up to allow you to create your own seafood feast. If cooking isn't your thing, there are plenty of restaurants but don't forget to try Tony's world famous (and award winning) clam chowder or the Island Room for a gourmet dinner. And there are plenty of night life choices that are walking distance to the townhome. We recommend the Black Dog for their unique choices of worldwide beers and wines plus their laid back island style. You may also rent a golf cart locally if you find that to be more convenient for your island travels.
The fishing here is unbelievable! If you are an inshore fishing enthusiast you won't find many better places for redfish, trout, or black drum. Spanish mackeral, shark, cobia, and the occasional tarpon are also caught in the area. If you enjoy going offshore, grouper, snapper and kingfish are readily available (check the regulations to verify seasons for keeping each species). There is also an abundance of tasty grunts, seabass, and triggerfish that make for an amazing fish fry. Cedar Key is also one of the closest ports to the world famous Florida Middle Grounds (80-90 miles offshore; the picture of me with the red snapper was taken there) where the offshore fishing is amazing and worth the cost for this once in a lifetime (unless you get addicted like me) trip. There are local captains available for hire for all types of fishing or you can bring your own boat.
Our 'Slice of Paradise' is one of the most relaxing places you'll ever visit. Every room is designed for comfort, convenience, luxury and relaxation. Enjoy your stay with us.

We just returned from spending a month at this rental. Absolutely wonderful! Very clean and nicely decorated with modern appliances. We saw dolphins almost every day whether we were on one of the balconys or even just sitting in the livingroom or dining area. Didn't even need binoculars. The water is right by the rental and being a bird watcher I saw more species of water birds than any other on the water rental we have been to. We were within walking distance for every restaurant or store. Boat or kayak rentals are two blocks away. This rental was truely a "Slice of Paradise". We highly recommend it.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+.

We had a wonderful time in Cedar Key. It is such a quaint, quiet little town. My husband fished off the pier. I went to free Yoga classes at the library. We took at tour cruise of the islands and a fishing trip with Captain Fred. We found some great restaurants in the area. The restaurant at Cedar Cove was wonderful. A slice of Paradise was the perfect home for our two weeks there. It was decorated very nicely, all newly redone and very clean. Phil was very responsive to our needs. The unit had an older washer and dryer when we arrived. When the washer had a problem, Phil sent his handyman out the same night with a lovely new washer and dryer! The view off the two balconies was simply beautiful. We loved watching the tides come in and out and the horse-shoe crabs and different water birds. From the kitchen window we could see a little marina and had a good time watching the pelicans help people clean fish. We spent two weeks and will definitely be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: I'm a Gainesville resident that loves offshore fishing and scuba diving. My wife and kids all share my passion and love for the coast and the water. My wife and I chose Cedar Key for our vacation home because we love the laid back atmosphere, the great food, the 'throwback' to Old Florida, and the outstandind fishing. Our condo has some of the absolute best views in the area.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Key:
Cedar Key is a wonderful mix of historic old Florida combined with the necessities of today's busy lifestyles. It is a wonderful town that has the unique qualities of being remote while still being convenient.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
'A Slice of Paradise' is a short walk from the downtown shops, restaurants, the public park, public beach, both boat ramps, and the public marina. Don't forget to bring your boat and experience some of the best fishing the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. If you aren't into fishing but love seafood there are a plethora of choices for great seafood and traditional cuisines as well. The night life options are abundant and all within walking distance as well. You will find this to be one of the most relaxing places in Florida. Kids and adults will enjoy it equally.
