Pleasingly furnished, full bath with shower, large well equipped eat-in kitchen with sitting area and full futon bed, 2 bedrooms with double beds, living room with large picture window over looking the lake in Isle La Motte.
Soft water well, propane heat and cook stove, Wifi, TV, Dish Network, VCR, DVD, small radio/c.d. player included. Large gas grill, deck chairs and table for large private deck. Both shady deck near dock and back deck offer panoramic western views boasting stunning sunsets against New York's Adirondack Mountains. Beach is sand and pebble. Water quality is high.
Explore the shoreline by canoe, kayak or water-shoe looking for fossils, shells or skipping stones. The lake provides beauty, fun, relaxation with a huge stage for viewing the starry sky. About the owner: I grew up with good old Vermont values. Isle La Motte has always been a special place in my family's hearts. My parents were from the Islands and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I held a degree in Culinary Arts and was a chef in New Hampshire and Vermont then moved to Connecticut but I always looked for a place like home to live and it dawned on me that I should just move back home, that was 15 years ago. I am very happy with my decision. My timing was good, I was able to be here with my folks, which because of me they were able to remain more independent until they were 91 years old. I lost them both in 2009.
Why the Owner Chose Isle La Motte:
A cherished family home built in 1949-1950 where many memorable decades were spent and savored.
Length-wise, our cottage is located in the middle of the island and only 2 miles from Fisk Farm Preserve where their Sunday art shows and garden tea's are a local favorite. The fine dining family-run Ruthcliffe Restaurant is also only 2 miles away. Alburg Links Golf Course and Country Club is 5 miles away and we are 13 miles from North Hero House restaurant. Montreal and Burlington are both an hour away one south, the other north. New York is just across the lake with Rouses Point being the first town by bridge. Plattsburgh is a smidgen over a 1/2 hour away.

You can always enjoy the Dish Network, VCR, DVD, Wifi and radio/c.d. player or read a book.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
When you look out the picture window with the deck there and just beyond that is the water, gives you the feel that you are on a boat. You will think you are totally alone on this lovely island until you see someone street-side on a bike or walk by enjoying the day.
What we thought we saw in the clouds. Boating, fishing and swimming and enjoying many family gatherings here. One woman that rented it said 'it is the pearl in the oyster' and I can't say that I disagree. It is one of the most beautiful spots on the island.
Every sunset is different. I have years of pictures of thousands of sunsets. I am not kidding! They are spectacular often remaining well after the sun has set. Red skies with pink hues on clouds with blues and greens and orange colors in the sky. At first the sun sets slowly and as the colors gather they intensify so does the speed of the setting sun. Many times we called one another not to miss the last of the setting.
After a busy day, relaxing on the deck in evening, it is you, fresh air, the lake and sky. You can hear the waves lapping as you can hear it ebb and flow as it hypnotically removes all tension and you find yourself so relaxed that you pray you will remember how it feels so you may recall it another time.
You might catch a glimpse of a falling star and see the a faint blinking light and realize is a small plane that is out of hearing . It will be so still that you hear nature realizing you have never heard it so busy before, maybe you have never heard tree frogs before.
Get good rest tonight as tomorrow will be another adventurous day on the island. As you lay there thinking about all you want to do tomorrow your mind will rest then hear the motion of the water lapping the shore as it carries you off to sleep.
