  We stayed here for a wonderful week in March 2013. The condo was just as the photos show it -- perhaps bigger in feel. Everything was new and clean in the condo, and the location is an easy walk to both Brennecke's and Shipwreck beach. Great to get there and find a boogie board, snorkeling gear, tennis rackets, beach towels, coolers and beach chairs. The view is beautiful – nothing more relaxing than early morning coffee or evening mai tais looking out to the whales breaching.

  This condo is in a fantastic location - southern most tip of the US - for wonderful whale watching! Each evening we headed outside to watch whales breaching, dolphins jumping and sea turtles. Everything we needed was available for use in the condo - kitchen supplies, fresh beach towels, sand toys, boogie boards (very thoughtful of the owners). The master bedroom is terrific and the flow of the condo especially nice. Only downside is that you are in a condo... which means you hear your neighbors at times (above and below). We'll absolutely be back!

• Great Unit In All Aspects

  We were two 50+ couples that shared this unit from Jan. 30th to Feb.13th. The location was perfect with regard to the proximity to Poipu Beach, Brennakes Beach and Shipwreck Beach. We found them to have the absolute best conditions for swimming and sunning as opposed to north side beaches which were mostly closed due to high surf. Also close to Merrimans, Roys and Casa D’amici for fine dining and the Plantation Gardens. The unit is exactly as described by many others with regard to an ocean view that found us sitting on the lanai with our coffee each morning watching for whales and we were never disappointed. The decorating of this unit was great and it has everything you need to prepare and serve your own meals if you so choose. We did a lot of eating in and used the communal grills and quickly found this as an opportunity meet many nice people from all over and swap stories. There is every appliance you could imagine including a blender and coffee grinder. The amount of beach toys, beach chairs, mats and a cooler were more than we could have imagined and made our beach trips very enjoyable and saved us having to purchase all of those types of items. We found that with the windows open and the use of ceiling fans, the unit was comfortable during the entire stay and we never felt that we could have used air conditioning. The grounds are extremely well maintained and clean. The office staff were very helpful when we talked to them. All in all, I thank Rodney and Karen for the use of their unit and I hope to return.

  I stayed in this condo with four other girls, and though there was some bed sharing (the sofa bed is not the best - we chose to share the other beds) the space was great, and we had plenty of room. The location cant be beat, and sipping mimosas on the patio watching whales breach was a fantastic way to start each day. Its close enough to walk to multiple other hotels for dinner and drinks, and an easy walk to Poipu beach. There is no air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans, and lots of windows/ventilation. Stocked with all the stuff you will need, I would go back again. One tip that they cant recommend due to it being down the rocks.....there is a path to the ocean (you're up on the rocks), and TONS of sea turtles swim there every day - its fantastic to watch, and was also a daily activity :) Enjoy.

  I had an opportunity to return to Hawaii and re-booked this condo. I took my daughter and we had a blast. We were there in January, a great time to go for whale watching. We loved sitting out on the balcony and watching the whales, some of them were so close, it was just amazing! The weather was fantastic! The condo had everything a teenager could want, boogie board, rafts, etc. We enjoyed walking down to the famous Poipu beaches, and of course getting shaved ice. The condo is fantastic and it truly had everything I needed for a perfect vacation. I noticed a few great additions to the condo, a flat screen tv in the master, lots of beach towels, ice chests, etc, and brand new bedding (which was new last time I was there!) There were also games, and DVD's, a really nice touch when entertaining a teenager. This condo was spotless, just like the last time I stayed there! This is my 1st choice of where to stay in Hawaii!!

  This was the most relaxing vacation..the condo was absolutely breathtaking. It was equipped with everything you can possible need..the best was the view from the lanai ..we were able to see dolphins and whales from the lanai. The people that work on the grounds were extremely friends and the property was beautifully kept up.close to many beaches,resturants and shopping..I found it very relaxing listening to the birds and the waves..I would recommend this place to anybody trulely amazing :)

  Such a lovely condo... So close to the water with a beautiful view from the lanai. There is a small path u can take out onto the rocks (although there are 25 signs advising you not to do so) where you can watch the waves break against the rocks and the most amazing sunsets. Condo looks exactly as described. Nice big kitchen for all your cooking after your hit Costco and just about everything you need to make it with. Beach chairs, snorkel gear and beach towels made the all day trip to Hanalei Bay a breeze. The only annoyance were these small fruit flies that seemed to only come at nite and were swarming enough to make me spend some time every nite trying to kill all of them. So close to poipu beach and Brenneckes. Wonderful vacation. Kids LOVED the pool and hot tub. I would def stay here again!

  We stayed at this condo for one week, and in all honesty I can say this was one of the best vacations I have ever had. The condo was awesome! It was very comfortable and absolutelt beautiful. I couldn't wait to wake up in the morning in order to have coffee on the lanai while watching the ocean. Then it's a short walk to watch a spectacular sunrise (this is saying alot because I am NOT a morning person). And as an added bonus, in the exact same spot where you watch the awesome sunrises, you can also watch even more spectacular sunsets over the ocean. All I can say is WOW! The condo is in an excellent location close to shopping, dining, beaches and everything you want out of Hawaii. The owners were very pleasant to deal with, and this condo is well worth money spent! If I had any complaints, it would only be that I don't live there.

  What a fantastic well-kept secret! I've been traveling to Kauai for the past 13 years straight and this condo was THE BEST condo I've been to, hands down! I usually rent from Suite Paradise down the road and even though they are a good outfit, you get way more for your money booking through VRBO with Rodney and Karen and Maka'huena #1203! I'm very satisfied that I chose this condo. The owners were VERY friendly, helpful and easy to work with! It was a pleasurable experience dealing with them directly and they answered all of my questions with complete satisfaction. They've also done an exceptional job of making sure our experience was memorable and hassle-free. I can't believe that anyone could have a negative experience the way a reviewer wrote in their unfair and irrational review. They must have either unrealistic expectations or just be very negative. But I must say that we had absolutely no issues whatsoever with this condo or the property management. In fact, all of the on-site staff were friendly, courteous and went out of their way to say 'hello' and repeatedly asked us if they could make our experience more pleasurable. Travelers should always be aware that there could be things that occur which is out of control of the property and/or owner. If there was to be scheduled maintenance, an outage or anything that was considered to be a possible inconvenience, a written notice was provided well in advance. But, we did not experience such an issue during our time spent here. It's quite refreshing to know that Randy and Karen have made great choices in the decor and comfort with the little touches that make this condo so unique. You really don't need to rent items such as snorkel gear, boogie boards, tennis equipment, toys for children or entertainment... it is all there provided for you! They even provided a generous supply of beach towels!!! This is great so you don't need to haul it all over in your suitcases or pay the high cost of renting locally. This is quite a premium for families. And speaking of families, this condo will provide exceptional comfort for more than 4 people. Even the sofa bed was comfortable! If you are planning that perfectly memorable vacation to a wonderful location, please do yourself a huge favor and consider this gem! It was a complete delight staying here and we plan on returning to this spot again and again! Mahalo to Rodney & Karen for an absolutely wonderful vacation. We'll be back for sure! Aloha! :)
