Gray farmhouse description
An ideal getaway for families and friends, executive retreats, and church groups. Anyone who enjoys the great outdoors, from sportsmen to nature lovers will love the peace and tranquility of this retreat!
Situated on an eight-acre lake full of large mouthed bass, bream as big as salad plates, and you got it - catfish. Take a walk down memory lane as you enter the cabin furnished in rustic decor by professional designer. Walls are adorned with wildlife, antique iron works, and art work - truly a one of a kind!
You will be as cozy as a bug in a rug with fireplaces in master bedroom and one of the two family areas as well as chiminea outdoors on deck overlooking lake.
You can leave the hustle of city life while enjoying amenities of which we have all become accustomed; four TVs, VCR, DVD, WiFi, stereo speakers inside and out, microwave, ice maker, gas grill, and charcoal grill - why you can even cook a whole pig on the sunken bathtub pit! Newly added outdoor kitchen under covered patio.
Services such as catering, stocking the refrigerator, airport transportation, part-time attendant, or even live entertainment can be arranged for your group (of course, there is an additional charge for these services). For any amateur pianist, there is an old upright piano.
Here are your sleeping arrangements: master has king-sized bed with private bath, two queen-sized bedrooms down(one with private bath), one loft bedroom with queen-size bed and private bath, and one loft with four twins. The rest of you will either be on the sleep sofa in den or you will need to bring a sleeping bag. At any rate, you will be sharing the downstairs bath!
So whether you are reading a book on the screened-in porch, resting on the dock with your feet dangling in the water, taking a walk on the 50-acre property, looking for all the turkey, deer, and various other wildlife, sitting in the boat wetting your line, shooting clays, pitching horseshoes, or just plain kicking back - this is sure to be a time your family or group will long remember!
Ya'll come soon, ya hear?
Outdoor play ground for the kids and a water fountain wall with wading pond for children of all ages!
(Bring your own fishing tackle, bait. and sporting clays.)

Everything was as advertised and we had a great time. Would defiantly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend escape that is easy to get to.

Fun in the great outdoors!
Fun in the great outdoors!
This is a great cabin for enjoying the outdoors. Between the off-road trails, the pond (we caught a bunch of nice blue gill fishing with cane poles and crickets), the boat and the grills that they have it's impossible not to have a good time. The house is awesome as well! This is the third time my friends and family have gone there and every time it has been a lot of fun. I definitely recommend this cabin!

Had a very relaxing and enjoyable time!
We really had a good time there, it is a relaxing place and very nice. We did have an issue with a couple of toilets not flushing properly, even after letting them "recover" between flushes, and there was a strong odor of gas all weekend. Overall, we would definitely return for another visit, and would recommend it for others.

Our family had a reunion at Eagle's Nest in early November, 2012 and we could not have asked for a better place to entertain family and friends. The property is great, beds were comfortable, plenty of space for everyone to sit and talk and eat, and eat, and eat!!! We picked this property due to the outdoor amenities and they did not disappoint at all. The trap was extremely fun and even those among us who had never experienced wing shooting got fairly proficient. The best thing about the property, though, was the fishing. My dad and I spent at least 4 hours every day sitting on the dam and catching hand sized shell crackers, bluegill and yearling largemouth. Over the entire 6 days we must have caught at least 150 bream, all returned to the lake with the utmost care (if you fish here practice catch and release. Small bodies of water are very easy to overfish). It is not every small lake that can support a population of bream this size. The bass were small but fun and very aggressive. I will definitely be back in the spring with a 4 weight fly rod when the bream are on bed! The only drawback I can think of are the lofts. If you are looking for a place for more than a few physically challenged individuals this is probably not the place for you. The lofts are great for kids and even middle aged kids but they are not accessible for older people who can't climb a ladder. I would highly recommend this property for families with young kids as there is a lot to do and plenty of room to do it. This property would be great for a youth group and if the owners weren't opposed to it a camping trip on the lawn for the kids while the adults enjoy the comforts of a very well appointed home would make for a perfect get away. Some local points of interest: Very well stocked package store in Milledgville across the street from WalMart has a great wine and beer selection, a good selection of single malts and even a decent humidor for cigars by the lake. In Gray there is a great BBQ place, Clinton's, where pulled pork and brunswick stew is done to perfection! All in all one of the best vacation rentals we have ever experienced. A definite return trip is in order and this one comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

House on Acreage
House on Acreage
We recently stayed at Eagles Nest, and enjoyed a family weekend. The house is older and rustic and seems to have been through some renovations through the years. Outdoors is a playground and splash fountain which our grandchildren enjoyed. The lake was lovely to look at, but we didn't want to use the beat-up old boats or old grills. It was comfortable inside, kitchen fine, good lighting and fans everywhere. Be aware that two of the loft bedrooms are up steep ladder steps. If you can get out on the trails that run through the woods and you'll know you've been to the country!

When I Think of Home...
When I Think of Home...
I have visited this wonderful place quite a few times and rejected posting a review earlier because I "selfishly" regarded this place as 'home' and wanted it to be available whenever I needed it. What a quaint place to come and just totally relax & "let go!" I have visited many sites (nationally & internationally). This is by far the most relaxed 'down home country setting' I have ever experienced! Surrounded by nature & water; quiet, safe, serene, peaceful and private. ...And did I mentioned safe? The fully equipped kitchen, the rooms (so individually private), the comfortable beds, the lake, plenty of fish...did I mentioned plenty of fish? The outside kitchen and play area was wonderful for the grandchildren. I am so thrilled that when I am already tired, I don't have to go far to be 'away from it all'. And lastly, the owners of Eagle's Nest are wonderful & so accommodating. Thank you! Looking forward to returning soon!

If your looking for a wonderful outdoor experience, this rental is great! We enjoyed the pontoon boat, paddle boat and skeet shooting all afternoon! The disappointment of this rental is the hot tub does not work (and I was so looking forward to soaking in the tub!), the loft bedrooms were a bit hard to get up and down. Overall, we had a great time! The children loved the playground also.

Owner response: We're always thrilled to hear visitors enjoying the "Eagle's Nest". Our family and friends seem to enjoy spending time with us there as well. There's outdoor recreation of various types for everyone with a welcoming and cozy indoor cabin for rest and relaxation. Unfortunately we had to order parts for hot tub repair however, it should be back up and running next week.
Eagle's Nest Retreat-cabin more than exceeded our expectations. The property is very well maintained and definitely provided the outdoor experience we were looking to provide for our family and friends. There was plenty for the kids to do, from fishing, to riding four wheeler trails, playing on the playground equipment, getting wet in the wading pond, or just tossing a football, or kicking a soccer ball. The adults enjoyed the ammenities of the cabin and the outdoor kitchen and screened patio. It was a weekend vacation that i think will be remembered for a long time to come.

We had a great time. The place was roomy, very clean, secluded and had great trails for 4 wheelers. Perfect for big family.

About the owner: As owners of several businesses my husband, Jack and myself devote much of our time to our work. As a dentist and interior designer we are both people lovers.
Why the Owner Chose Gray:
We enjoy the escape to the 'Eagle's Nest' surrounded by the serenity of nature.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Just gazing across the 8 acre lake is enough to lower my blood pressure but my husband likes to go out on the pontoon boat and wet a hook. We also like to take a 4 wheeler ride in the early mornings or evenings. Jack likes to grill our dinner in the outdoor kitchen where we can sit and visit with each other. We also enjoy having friends and family gather at the 'Eagle's Nest' where the children can play and enjoy outdoor activities.
