Beautiful, bright apartment in a lovely area
Beautiful, bright apartment in a lovely area
This is a lovely apartment with everything you need for a lovely time in Santiago. The apartment is actually even nicer than the photos and is part of a smaller apartment/condo building that is nicely maintained with 24 hour door men who are very helpful. The apartment was perfect for our family of 4 (all adults) to spread out, be alone or together as the mood hit each of us. We enjoyed having the modern kitchen for breakfast, snacks and even managed to pull together a lovely Thanksgiving dinner while we were there. While there is no "outside" area you feel like there is as the windows are large and open to let in the fresh air and sunshine. On our last morning my husband was sitting in the living room, enjoying the sun, peace and quiet while watching parrots moving around in the trees! The Chilean representative of the unit, Amaranta was very helpful in arranging for transportation for us upon arrival and departure. I am sure she would have done much more for us if we had requested. Hector and the other men working the front desk were very, very helpful in calling taxis, giving us directions, and would even meet us at the door with the shopping cart when we returned from the market. Judy, the owner was equally as responsive and very helpful. While we were in Chile we went to Mialpo for a day of river rafting and a horseback ride up into the Andes and then took an overnight trip to Valparaiso. Taking the metro to get around is very easy and safe, about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. We took the metro to the bus station and then a nice bus on Tur Bus to Valpo, easy, clean and safe. I highly recommend this apartment and would return there in a heartbeat!

LAS VIOLETAS IS AMAZING!
We've had a great time in Chile! Las Violetas was amazing and worked very well for our family. My parents are already safe and sound back in Finland. The rest of us continued to San Alfonso which is like a paradise. The weather has been terrific (too many sunburns...) and the kids have swum. Your staff has been so helpful and there if needed. We're very pleased!

SO WELL LOCATED AND WELL EQUIPPED!
We have enjoyed a very pleasant week in Santiago. What a lovely city! Las Violetas was just right for us, so well located and well equipped. Amaranta was available to answer questions and attend to our needs. She arranged for a "guide extraordinaire" to take us on outings - so well informed and a real gentleman! The weather was cool in the morning and evening but very mild during the day and perfect for walking around. We look forward to returning!

Great location, charming safe neighborhood. Very comfortable for 4 adults. Pedestrian friendly, few blocks to subway, groceries and restaurants. Very responsive and helpful off-site concierge who speaks excellent English and has great sources for day tours and airport transfers. Simpatico on-site doorman ready to solve any need. We all want to return to Las Violetas very soon.

Everything worked very well for us. The internet connection was excellent, the kitchen very well equipped, and the space quite comfortable. The location was within easy walking distance of many things, but was nice and quiet. Thanks for being so kind!

LAS VIOLETAS IS JUST AS DESCRIBED!
We found the apartment to be just as described! It worked so well for our needs. Thank you Judy! Everything worked - no problems at all. The weather was warm but with the open wall of windows we had a nice cooling breeze. The kitchen was well beyond our needs, but wonderful. We had a great meat at Bar Liguira on Pedro de Valdivia.

We were so comfortable in your apartment. We found it easy to get around in the city, mostly by taxis. Your place is so well equipped and everything worked as it should. It is beautifully decorated. I even got a few ideas for my own kitchen at home. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Our Wonderful "Home away from Home" for 2 months
Las Violetas was great! We are a family of 5 and stayed here on and off though our 2 month stay in Chile. The apartment was like a home away from home. The kitchen was great for cooking, with all the modern appliances, clean and large. The washing machine was a bonus and very handy. The location was great, an easy walk to the metro, supermarkets and cafes. By staying here, we felt like part of the community, integrating with the local people. We have had a fabulous stay in Chile. We would highly recommend this apartment. Hecter and Amaranta were also very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will really miss this place, but will take fond memories.

Amazing apartment in Santiago
Amazing apartment in Santiago
As a family of five we found it very difficult to find suitable accommodation for our long term stay in Chile. Once we came across Las Violetas apartment in Providencia we booked as many available days as possible. It is a home away from home. With all the mod cons, a state of the art kitchen, three generous bedrooms and most importantly for a family of five - three bathrooms. We felt very comfortable and could easily spend a day in the apartment without feeling the need to go out. The kids enjoyed their own space and loved having Hector at the front door greet them on exit and entry. Las viloletas is located within walking distance to the supermarket, great bread and cake shops and a healthy distance to the metro. The positioning of Las Violetas allows the visitor to feel as they are part of a community neighbourhood. We spent Christmas attending the Carols at Providencia and went to Christmas mass down the street. Judy has created a wonderful apartment for a truly comfortable stay. We can highly recommend Las Violetas especially for extended stays. We look forward to getting back there one day. Amarantha who managed the property was a great help and also spoke english. The cleanliness and presentation of the apartment is first class. The bedding extremely comfortable and the views are superb watching the sunset of an evening.

We had a great stay, the apartment is awesome, the location, the furniture. From the booking process to our check in, stay and check out - everything was great! The doormen are really nice people and Amaranta, the English speaking manager, was always willing to help. We definitely would highly recommend your apartment!

THE BEST!! Terrific Apartment!
We have stayed in two other apartments on this South American trip. However, this one is THE BEST. All here- from the toilet paper to the internet. Well furnished and very well equipped. The apartment is terrific! You have an amazing decorating style and a great use of space. We could not be happier. The apartment is beautiful and very clean! We drink many Chilean wines in California and are looking forward to visiting the vineyards. Amaranta has been a great help and you both have been extremely responsive and efficient. We strongly recommend this apartment to all....

The PERFECT HOMEBASE to discover Santiago!Guest comment entered by manager
The PERFECT HOMEBASE to discover Santiago!
We started our first trip to Chile at Villa Las Violetas, one of Judy's beautiful VillasinChile. We found it to be the perfect home base for discovering Santiago. This was the end of our daughter's junior year in Chile and we have enjoyed getting to know her "new country" through Judy's lovely home. Special thanks to Amaranta for making all the careful arrangements, especially a most enjoyable and educational day tour of the coast. Now we are off to the mountains and Villa Puertazul.

The Apartment Was PERFECT!
Villa Las Violetas apartment was perfect! We had everything we needed and much more. Our days went by so quickly. We saw and went to many of the places your other quests went. The only additions we can recommend are Baco Restaurant and Villa Grimaldi, which was lovely and moving. It is a garden now but commemorates many who died during the Pinochet regime. Hard to believe it was more than 30 years ago. The Chileans are lovely, very very helpful. We hope to return.

Your Lovely Condo FAR EXCEEDED The Descriptions!
My husband and I are from Oregon, my daughter from California. She arranged for us to stay at your lovely condo which far exceeded the description online. We are three "foodies" so your kitchen was a real blessing. Fully equipped with appliances that were first rate. We prowled the central mercado and "La Vega" for amazing ingredients. Santiago is a cook's dream. Your notes about the area were very helpful and Amaranta was very helpful as well. But the real prize was Leo, the excellent tour guide that you got for us. Thank you for all.

One of the best VRBOs we've stayed in!
One of the best VRBOs we've stayed in!
We are a couple in our 30s/40s and have been traveling all over the world (Asia, Europe, S. America) in the past two years. Hands down, Las Violetas is one of the nicest, most comfortable places we've stayed. Judy (the owner), was responsive, clear, and very professional when we arranged the lease. We had numerous follow-up questions before arriving and she answered all of them promptly and with good humor. The flat itself is very well thought-out. Everything you could need is there: a washer-dryer unit, a dishwasher, a gas cooking range, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, good wine glasses and decanters, a storage room, guide books, and -- halleluah -- fast broadband wifi! After traveling in Argentina for six weeks, we felt like we'd returned to civilization. The flat was very clean and tastefully decorated with paintings and sculptures from (local?) artists. The beds were both very comfortable and the linens were good quality. Part of what makes the flat so charming, though, is that it is on the 6th floor of a small building and has windows along two sides and a little enclosed terrace, so the sun comes in at all times of the day and there are beautiful views. There are also flower boxes around the edge of the windows so you look out over calla lilies into the leafy neighborhood and the mountains. It's just really pleasant and relaxing inside the flat! And I loved the neighborhood itself. The flat is located on an elegant little street in Providencia that feels like a slice of a bunch of European cities mixed up together. Providencia and neighboring Ñuñoa are large, very flat, and organized on a grid, so it was easy to find pleasant 10K running routes. There are lovely plane trees everywhere. The only drawback of the flat is that -- for non-walkers (like my sweetheart) -- it's a 20-min walk to a concentrated area of restaurants. However, you can easily catch inexpensive taxis on either corner of the street (Lyon or Valdivia). Some of the nearby restaurants we enjoyed were... Astrid & Gastón Le Flaubert Barandiaran The building staff, especially the head doorman Hector, were low-key and really nice. And funny! They carried suitcases, came up and changed light bulbs, and were very earnest in wanting to be helpful. They were primarily Spanish-speaking, so Judy has arranged a English-speaking concierge to translate whenever necessary. If we come back to Santiago, we'll look forward to staying again!

Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Manager response: We were delighted to have Chloe and Eric as our guests. And yes, the art work, sculpture and even the pottery comes from local Chilean or Mapuche artists, giving the apartment a warm,, vibrant and inviting feeling, we hope. Thank you for choosing to stay with us!

What a Great Apartment! We loved it!!
What a great apartment for our family of five! We loved how central it is! We loved all the small details - everything we needed. We had all that we could ask for, even a clothes hamper, hair dryer with just the attachments I needed!! We walked easily to the Metro or grabbed a taxi. We loved the nearby bakery (Castano) for fresh bread and pastry for breakfast. It is so great to have such a spacious living room and kitchen. Great having the washing machine, ipod/iphone charger and speaker system and so many other details. So much better than a hotel!! Finally we loved being in a residential neighborhood. It helped us to feel like a part of the culture and like this was actually our own home. Thanks you Judy and Amaranta for being incredibily responsive to our needs. Helping us arrange ski trips, trips to crafts markets, mercados and museums. And for suggesting great restaurants. We will definitely be back!!

I just want to say how much I appreciate the beauty of this apt. Everything matches, the sheets, towels, dishes, appliances. I know attention was paid to every detail and it has not gone unnoticed. I feel so lucky that we found your homes on the web. I am looking forward to going to the mountain house too.

"Our Home Away From Home"
Las Violetas is a lovely apartment on a quiet, tree-lined street. The apartment is beautifully decorated (including touches of Chilean artwork and pottery) with comfortable furnishings, and is well appointed for a long-term stay. From its sixth floor location, we enjoyed many beautiful sunsets, and were able to glimpse the Andes, Cerro San Cristóbal, and downtown. The apartment is very convenient to shopping, the bus system, the Metro (10 min walk), and close access to plenty of taxis. We stayed here three months and didn't need a car. The Providencia area is a wonderful area for walking, parks, bicycling restaurants and cultural events. It was very easy for us to make this our "home away from home
