This breathtaking, custom-built, luxury home boasts wall-to-wall sliding glass doors on the main floor that overlook the mouth of the Potomac as it opens into the Chesapeake Bay. The home is designed to give the illusion of sitting on a boat or ship on the water when enjoying the main floor.
A white marble framed fireplace keeps you cozy and warm in the off season. The third story or cupola offers a 360 degree view of the river, bay, creek and quiet countryside that leads up to the property. Eagles often rest in the large, towering trees next to the house with an eye-to-eye view of them.
The estate is surrounded by a 8 foot privacy fence creating a sense that you’re the only one on the water while staying here. Over 300 feet of shoreline surround the property offering you never ending WATERFRONT VIEWS of the beautiful Potomac River and the large ships that cross the horizon on the Chesapeake Bay.
Home is decorated with fine quality furniture, antiques, and appointments. More details below photos.
Water Access, Beaches and Fishing: Water access avail. off private pier (~5 ft mean water depth @ high tide). Home is on 'big water' where dramatic, beautiful storms move in quickly. Guest watercraft /must/ be moored overnight @ nearby Marina for separate fee or can be launched daily for free @ small creek (1.25mi) & returned to trailer each night.
Private pier & lower tier rip-rap offer great vantages for fishing. Guests, neighbors & friends catch bluefish, rockfish, croaker, skate, and an abundance of blue crab along our share of the river/bay. For safety and sanitary reasons, fish MUST be cleaned on cleaning table outside the courtyard area of the property. ALL Hooks, equip., lines MUST BE POLICED/REMOVED.
Beach Access.
Winter Season: Quiet walks along the beach as well as sunny hamlets hidden from the winter winds offer great reading and resting opportunities with first row seating for Eagle, Osprey and Blue Heron watching.
Peak Season: Nearby beach & creek great places for crab hunting/sunbathing but ACCESS MUST BE MADE FROM THE WATER (fr pier/via personal watercraft) as property that adjoins/gives access to the beach is private property. Vir-Mar Beach offers easy access and is only 8 mi away.
Many guests have rented kayaks or small boats from a local company for their stay to enjoy the water even more. Please ask for details. All watercraft are delivered directly to the property.
The Bedrooms: The romantic, spacious master suite covers the entire 2nd floor with a king size bed facing French doors that open to a widows walk. This room offers two reading areas overlooking different views of the water and surrounding scenes as well as a spacious walk-in closet/dressing room. The room is also furnished with a large, antique wooden desk for checking email or for many of our guests 'working from home' during the course of their stay. The master bath offers a spacious waterfall shower, massage shower heads and shower bench with his/her vanities.
The 2nd bedroom is located on the main floor next to its own bathroom & has a full size bed. Views of the Bay greet you as you wake with your own private sliding door access to the screened-in porch. It is a perfect size/location for children, a visiting grandparent/au pair/nanny or for napping guests.
The Guest House: The Guest House is also available for rent at a separate rate. It offers it's own private, full kitchen and dining area, powder room, and living room with wall to wall water views. The Master Suite encompasses the entire 2nd story and offers wrap around windows, a private bath with waterfall shower, and built in wardrobe/closet for a comfortable stay. Like the main house bedroom, it offers a wonderful reading nook overlooking the expansive waterfront views. Finally, the guest house offers its own private deck for morning sunning and coffee or catching the evening sunset.

Coffee and sunrises over water, naps in the breeze on the screened porch, walks along the beach and creek, tying flies in the cupola for the next day's fishing, cool Belgian ales at sunset, stars at night. Oh the joys of retirement ... even if it was just pretending for a few days ... it was well worth it, and this place is perfect for it. The owner is gracious and accommodating beyond expectations. The house is fresh, bright, clean, and thoughtfully provisioned in excess. We stayed at this gorgeous home over New Year’s weekend for a quiet getaway. The home is absolutely lovely; the pictures do not do it justice. Located at the end of a very secluded road, the home provides extensive privacy and quiet seclusion. There are 3 stories to the house, each one with ample windows with fantastic views of the river, the bay, and a tiny creek that meets the river next to the house. Each body of water provides lovely views and interesting wildlife to observe. The cupola on the 3rd floor is perfect. We had breakfast there every morning, and one morning a bald eagle landed in the tree right outside the window. Overall the house is very comfortable and includes everything you could want or need. My partner and I have stayed at this property several times. It is truly the ultimate in relaxation, we didn't want to leave! The house itself is clean, well-maintained, and gorgeous. It's open and airy, with awesome views from pretty much everywhere. The bedroom in the guest house has wide windows on all sides and is amazing to wake up in. The amenities are top notch: well appointed kitchen, big screen tv, comfy furniture, even a grand piano! The location is incredible too: totally private, very quiet, and the neighbors are extremely friendly but not invasive. We enjoyed kayaking in the nearby channel, hanging out on the beach, having cocktails in every location imaginable, and enjoying nature. TONS of wildlife to enjoy! If you want to venture out for the day, there are lots of cute little antique shops close by. And of course tons of great seafood! The owners are really good people, a pleasure to work with. I would (and have) recommended this as a getaway vacation for anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I loved staying at this house! It is tucked away on a corner lot with water on two sides and windows all around. It almost feels like you are on a boat (without the sea-sickness) since everywhere you look there is peaceful water. There are a ton of little nooks and crannies to relax with a good book or just take a nap in the sun - one of the decks or balconies, in the cupola, in the sunroom or on the nearby private beach. The space is warm and open with a beautiful kitchen for making a meal, an enormous master bedroom and of course, the guest house to keep friends close but still private. This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: Matthew is a native Virginian whose family have loved and enjoyed the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay his whole life. Lachelle grew up in the Midwest on the plains, kayaking, canoeing, and enjoying water-sports on the rivers and lakes that weave their way through Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.
Why the Owner Chose Reedville:
We were stunned when we pulled up into the drive the first time to see 711 Marshalls Beach Road. The wind was strong, whitecaps rolled across the mouth of the river. (Lachelle felt right at home, as if she was back on the windy plains in Iowa.) As we entered the garden gate, we were stunned. No one could have prepared us for the expansive, break-taking view of the Chesapeake Bay that greeted us as we entered the courtyard.

Our home is the only home on Marshalls Beach that is rented. You are surrounded by Richmond and Northern Virginia families who have traveled here every weekend through the summer for as many as seven generations. Southern hospitality abounds.
The design of the home is the greatest feedback we receive. Every local contractor, builder, real estate agent or neighbor who visits us at the house are floored -- completely awestruck by the property. Many of these folks grew up on the Bay and River or have lived/worked the properties there for years. We think that says it all.
