My Mother, Auntie and I all came to experience Merrie Monarch on the Big Island. Lodging was hard to come by in town and I AM SO GLAD! This was an amazing experience and I would not have traded convienence in town for the incredible time we had on this property. I have NEVER been so relaxed as I found myself to be sitting on the lanai listening to the ocean and feeling the breezes wash over me. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will be back. If you are seeking peaceful moments, this is the ticket. Thank you to our host for allowing us the chance to be in this special piece of paradise. Loved it! Much Aloha!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Words cannot convey the beauty and location of this home. I was stunned at the beautiful interior and wonderful property this house was located on..it is truly paradise!. The pictures in the listing do not do justice to the beauty and comfort of this home..I have travelled many times to the Big Island and i have had several VRBO properties i have stayed in...and i will look no further..i am already making plans for next year at this house..Carol was a most gracious host and was a wonderful person to meet , and the whole process was painless and smooth. The Pond is a great place to relax and take a morning or evening dip in the warm heated water...the tide pools are a 5 minute drive away for the best snorkeling around..and overall i would rate this house an 11 out of 10..Thank you Carol for the best vacation i have had in many,many years..kevin,chantee,joe,terril....see you next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home is absolutely stunning. The floor plan is open, large rooms, lovely deck space. The neighborhood was quiet - well, not really - the sound of birds and surf was pretty overwhelming. The kitchen had everything one needed to make a decent meal. The beds were comfy; the bathrooms very nice. Clearly the owners thought out every detail to make it a special spot for vacationers. We are hoping to return next year. Thanks, Carol, for all your thoughtfulness!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Words cannot convey the true 'specialness' of this property. Lovingly created, exceptionally executed, beautifully appointed, tranquil and serene. Good mana imbued. And that's just the home. After many years of traveling to Hawaii and discovering the fascinations of the Big Island, this incredible home is the ultimate in luxury and solitude. The area can't be beat, and to have your own swimming pond, heated by natural warm springs, an ample but comfortable space with graceful and elegant furnishings ... it's worth every penny. A most gracious hostess and alluring area ... definitely plan to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Wow, the house is even more beautiful than the photos. Our stay was fantastic! You thought of everything! The warm pond was truly amazing. $300-$400/night, $2,000/wk, long term negotiable. Cleaning Fee $200 Hawaii Taxes of 13.416% 50% deposit to confirm your reservation, balance due 60 days prior to arrival. About the owner: Aloha, and welcome to my world. I have had the privilege of living in Hawaii for over 23 years. I lived in Maui for much of that time but always wanted to call the Big Island home. For the past four years I have made that dream come true. Kapoho has always had my heart. The waters here nourish me deeply. Being a steward of such a special place has given me great blessing. The green sea turtle in the picture is named Albert. I call him Honu (which means turtle in Hawaiian). He lives in his own warm pond on the property where I live (next door to the Bali House). He is over 30 years old and has lived here most of his life. I feed him lettuce, sea weed, raw fish, dog food and even some turtle food. I also rub his shell and sing to him. Honu has been an amazing teacher to me. I love taking care of him and he loves me back. As you see we are good friends!
