Great, Clean Cabin for Family Getaways!
Great, Clean Cabin for Family Getaways!
We were looking for a cabin that would accomodate our 10 family members (one is our 14 month old Grandson). This cabin was great. It is very quiet and unassuming on the exterior, but is well maintained. The interior is nicely decorated and one of the cleanest rental properties we have leased. Tracey was so helpful getting everything arranged and we had no difficulties while there. I first began coming to this area of Georgia about forty-eight years ago with my parents and siblings. We usually make at least two trips a year to the area. On this trip we were celebrating the begnning of summer with our college- age daughter, our two sons and two daughters-in-law, our grandson and our niece and nephew (both teenagers). The house afforded us ample room, good sleeping arrangments and a home-base for one of our favorite pastimes - "rambling." We love all the quaint "out of the way" places. On this trip we also enjoyed the balloon race in Helen, introducing our niece and nephew to tubing, our favorite flea market near Clayton, wading, the covered bridge and all the beautiful scenery. We gathered often on the front porch of the cabin - an excellent place for a cup of coffee or cocoa and a snuggly blanket... and early morning deer watching. At night we roasted marshmallows and made smores at the campfire. Each morning we had family breakfasts in the nicely equipped kitchen . At dusk each day fireflies became our miniature lanterns. The only thing I would like to note is that there is no cell-phone service at the cabin. That was not a problem for us (acutally a good thing), but about a mile up the road we could secure service if needed. Perhaps the owners will consider placing a 911 call out only phone for emergency situations. By the way we have recommended the property to at least two other families! Thanks for such a lovely place. Please give our thanks to the lady who cleans - she evidently takes pride in her work. .

Beautiful Cabin in the woods
Beautiful Cabin in the woods
My family stayed in this cabin in April. It was 8 mins out of Helen. It was a wonderful, secluded cabin to relax in but close enough to run into town and enjoy all the sites and shops. Grill worked great and everything was very clean. When my family traveled home I realized we had left our laundry bag. I called Tracey up and she was more than happy to ship the laundry bag to us. Hope to stay again in August.

Excellent Rental!! Very Happy
Excellent Rental!! Very Happy
I recently stayed here in August with my family and had a WONDERFUL time. The owner communicates well and is very accomodating. When we arrived at the property we found everything to be clean and as expected. There is a huge backyard (great for children) with a play-set and trampoline. A basketball hoop is in front. The cabin is spacious with an open kitchen that allowed us to really talk and interact with each other. A long porch straddles the front, and we sat outside, talked, and enjoyed nature. The bedrooms were nicely decorated. Anything that we needed in terms of cooking utensils, cleaning or linens were provided. It's a short drive from the cabin to Helen- maybe about 10 minutes driving. There is a place to ride horses, zipline, or take a boat tour about 10 minutes away also. There are some great parks in the area as well. Helen is a cute town with shopping and restaurants. In this part of the Georgia you are going to be needing a car, and we didn't think that anything was too far away to make it inconvenient. The area is secluded and quiet without being scary. We are considering returning next year. This place is affordable, and the owner is great!! THANKS A BUNCH

We had a remarkable stay at this home near Helen and we intend to make this our retreat for our annual trip. This home has a very nice kitchen with lots of cooking and eating utensils, very nice rooms with comfy beds, and lots of places to sit around and visit. Outside there was a great yard to play horseshoes (already at home) and several other backyard games that we brought. The fire pit was a great feature and it was already stacked with lots of firewood. We highly recommend this cabin to whoever is looking for a nice relaxing vacation.

Wonderful Western Decor - Clean & Spacious
Wonderful Western Decor - Clean & Spacious
My wife and I, our son, daughter in law and 2 teenage grandkids spent the Mother's Day weekend at the "cabin." From the outside the house is just another single story aluminum sided home. However, once inside it is just as the pictures illustrate: very much a western theme with such detail as rowboat lamps, deer hoof coat rack, deer hood lamp, saddles, cow skin rug, etc. All the cabinetry appears brand new, beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean. The kitchen has a large side by side refrigerator with an ice maker, and there is flat ware and plates for about 12 people. We also found plenty of cooking pots, pans, cooking equipment, etc. There is a big picnic table on the back porch along with a gas BBQ. We enjoyed the firepit in the back and the kids roasted marshmellows (bring your own firewood) and we played horeshoes. The front and back yards are huge with plenty of room for ball games. The location is about 8-10 minutes drive from Helen and is out in the country so there's no quick trip to the store unless you drive to Helen. We found a lot a of sight seeing in and around Helen with hiking and fishing very near Helen. The working water powered grist mill just outside Helen was an interesting treat. We are from southern CA so all the trees and greenery, and water was wonderful. The reservation process was quick, easy and very professionaly done, with good communications. My only negative would be the towels in the bathrooms; a bit thin and scratchy, but I'm being picky. Overall: a great place to stay for families or several couples.

Why the Owner Chose Helen:
I had been going up to the North Ga area, especialy Unicoi state Park, every summer, my father would take the whole family to Unicoi (Helen, Ga) for two weeks. We would rent one of the state park barrel cabins on Lake Unicoi. after many summers of fishing the many trout streams, hiking to waterfalls in the woods, visiting all the close-by attractions, learning about American mountain culture, as well as horse back riding and the relaxed pace of summer life in North Georgia, it became as much a home to my sisters and me as our year round Florida residence. My minister father became ill with brain cancer when I was in high school. About the time I went away to collage in Tennessee, my parents bought a simple little house that dad could work on for therapy near Helen. Soon my sisters followed to Gainesville and Duluth, and eventually I was the only one from the family left in Florida. Since my wife's family was still in Naples, Fl., we remained and started to raise our family and develop our careers. Eventually, we had an oppurtunity to buy some land near my sister's vacation home in the Sautee Valley. This led to a neighbor contacting me to buy this home next to the wooded parcel we owned. The thought of having our own getaway spot adjacent to my sister's cabin seemed ideal, so we bought the home and worked to make it into a family retreat, cabin style. Our family was back together again, just like the days of our childhood summers! The weather in Georgia is great! We live in Florida....it's hot, hotter and....well, we won't go there! But Georgia, ..it has it all. We love a good summer rainstorm with thunder rolling through the valley. We love the winter snow....so light and beautiful..stays but a short while, but it is such a treat. With our Cabin's Stone fireplace, we love the cool nights. Spring is amazing in North Georgia.. the greenest greens, and oh, the blooms! Mountain laurel, cherry blossoms...amazing!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We have raised our children in North Georgia on every vacation break possible just the way I was raised. We continue to enjoy fishing and hunting, swimming, tubing, hiking, camping, night time bonfires, horseback riding, exploring mountain roads and trails, finding new waterfalls, playing in creeks, and enjoying the endless mountain culture events that promote mountain craftwork and skills that are unique to this part of the country. And nothing beats a rope swing, tube or a canoe on the Chattahoochee river in the summer time! So after more than thirty years of countless getaways to North Georgia, first as a youngster, then as newlyweds and now as parents, it still is exciting everytime we find our way back to the beloved mountains of North Georgia. Eack new season brings fresh discoveries and vitalizes our passion for our home away from home. We hope you will start your own journey of discoveries and begin to build cherished memories right here in Nachoochee Sautee Vally, in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains.
