Chasing Rainbows gets an A+. My two friends and I wanted a quiet weekend in a cabin by the creek. The cabin was everything we hoped for...a great deck overlooking the creek, a hot tub, a well furnished kitchen, and plenty of quiet. The cabin was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed. It was a beautiful weekend with the new season popping out right before our eyes. We're looking forward to our 2014 reunion in the same spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hi Alma, We are so pleased the cabin was everything you wanted and needed! We look forward to helping you visit again! Thanks so much!

Chasing Rainbows, our home for 4 nights. WiFi for my husband, a nice relaxing deck and bubbling creek for me, and for us-a hot tub ready for use! Rest was what I needed and this was a great place to get it. ...and I can't forget the heater in the bathroom to knock off the morning chill as you took a bathe. My husband realized I can still cook. I liked the stove top. Our GPS can in handy but it really wasn't off the beaten path too much. We enjoyed the location being near Boone, West Jefferson, and N. Wilkesboro. The Blue RIdge Parkway just about right so close too. Found the neighbors friendly as we went for walks.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

First, the good stuff: - Really nice cabin, structurally. Beautiful inside and out! We really enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace in the evening. - Loved the stream on the front side of the cabin. It added so much to the overall feel. - Nice list of amenities (love the fireplace and hot tub) Weaknesses: - Lots of hidden costs. Not the owners fault, but when you click through to reserve the cabin, it automatically added what I thought was fairly substantial charges for a reservation fee, linen service (they wash your sheets and towels), pet charges, and renters insurance. It can all be removed with effort (except for the reservation fee), but I found it a bit odd that it was automatically added on. If someone wasn't careful, they would probably pay all of it. Also, the security deposit was kind of slow coming back (almost a full month until it was in-hand). - The linen service could be foregone as long as you washed your own stuff. Which was great, except the dryer took almost 2 hours to dry a set of sheets. - The fireplace was great, but the firewood was not. If you advertise "firewood provided," then it should mean it. There was no kindling wood, no paper, and (most importantly) the firewood seemed to have been cut down and split within the past few weeks. It hadn't been seasoned, so it didn't burn. So we had to go out and buy some at an additional cost. - The hot tub was great, but I wonder why it wasn't prepped in anticipation of guests coming. On a cold winter night, why wouldn't someone drop by and set the tub higher than what it was set at - 90 degrees? We weren't able to use it the night we arrived because it wasn't hot enough. - They advertise having "high speed internet," which I guess is technically true. What they don't say is that, to use it, you need a laptop and an ethernet cord. Why not spend a few bucks and get a wireless router for your cabin? This is really important because there is absolutely no cell phone service - absolutely none. Would I recommend it to a friend? Probably not. It is a few things away from being great. Buy a wireless router, provide dry firewood & kindling, and prep the place for arriving guests. Basically, make it feel like a home, not a hotel.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
