Our 8 adult family members and 2 grandchildren had a fantastic time. The weather was perfect. Oh, the Beds - so Fine. The Hot tub was a great baby sitter - there were no fights - just fun. Games on the lawn, feeding the fish, listening to the comforting music, playing the Wii. Great BBQs - Totally lovely in every way. The best vacation spot ever - and we've been to Maui many times.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was a second stay for my family of 15!! A second stay because the first was so nice we had to return.... This house is perfect for a quiet, out in the middle of no where stay but yet you are minutes from town. Beautiful landscape and very unique to so many ways. The house has so much special character and intrigue, so hand crafted and full of imagination. So safe for children, no worries of getting ran over by a car or some person walking off with one of them.. Wendy the owner is the very heartbeat of the place and cares so much for making your stay as awesome as it can be, each to their own needs. We will return again because of our two experiences being so memorable and fun!! If you don't try it then you settled for second best and if you read a bad review, trust me, some people can't be happy unless they are being only critical. Anyway, gotta try it, thx Wendy again and see you next time! :) RonRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband was very pleased when we walked in the door. We found the warm, cozy and clean. we felt welcome and comfortable. The owner was accessable to any concerns and problems. Upstairs water pressure was a little low for a shower. I have already recomended it to others. We would like to stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The place is beautiful with many thoughtful details. Pretty much anything a person might need, extra fresh-smelling towels, blankets, entertainment and even a well stocked kitchen. Enough room for everyone to have some privacy. Big enough kitchen for a couple of cooks. The hot tub was well heated and freshly cleaned and filled. Room for pets was much appreciated. Everyone in the family was graciously received by our warm and genuine hostess. The place is surrounded with wildlife, and several colonies of pretty mushrooms live amongst the surrounding forest floor. It was a very welcoming place to end a journey and catch up with family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our group of 6 friends just stayed at Redwood Manor while celebrating New Years. The house is lovely, cozy, and private. We loved the big yard around the house and the fact that it was in a quiet, safe area. All the bedrooms were nice and the beds were exceptionally comfy with decadent fleece sheets. We really appreciated the well-labeled cans in the kitchen for recycling and compost -- so nice to stay somewhere that is eco-friendly! It took a couple of times to figure out the kerosene heater, but once we did it was a breeze to operate. The big dining room table was perfect for group dinners and playing games. It was also really wonderful that our dog was welcome since he is an integral part of our annual gathering. Thanks, Wendelaine, for your helpfulness and hospitality!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We came from far and wide to meet up and spend some quality time together. There were 7 of us and one puppy, it was instant LOVE! This beautiful and unique home is located back in the redwoods. It was secluded with lovely grounds. Everyone fell in love with the house, which had plenty of room to accommodate everyone with plenty of room to spread out. The weather was supurb and we were within a short drive from the ocean. We rode the Skunk Train which was awesome, such fun! We had such a good time we are thinking about making this an annual trip. Thanks again Wendy for your wonderful hospitality, we will return soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had such a wonderful time in this precious home! We had a group of 12 and it was very comfortable and spacious. The decor is absolutely beautiful and unique. Every morning sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, with the views of the beautiful gardens, wildlife and the smell of the clean ocean air was rejuvenating. The home is perfectly equiped with everything you need to cook a meal with in the fabulous kitchen-a Chef's dream! Wendy and the Redwood Manor was an absolute wonderful place to have our small intimate wedding ceremony with friends and family. From the beautiful landscaping to the very charming house. We enjoyed this lovely place and look forward to returning for many years to come. Wendy is both helpful and attentive and the grounds allow for privacy and relaxation. We loved every minute of our stay except for having to leave. It will always have a special place in our hearts.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I am originally from York, north of England, but have lived in California for nearly 17 years now. I have spent 9+ years here on the beautiful Mendocino coast developing this exquisite property into my dream 'little English' escape and feel very fortunate to be able to share my dream with others. I can honestly say that when I bought the place back in 2003 it was a blank canvas in need of a lot of tlc, prompted by this fact I have since had the wonderful opportunity of learning many new skills that I am now grateful for, which include carpentry, upholstery, mudding, landscaping, wallpapering, re-finishing wood, tiling, renovating antique furniture back to life, and the list goes on and on... I would have done the roof but unfortunately I am not good at heights, lol!. Prior to living here I lived and worked in the Bay area as a senior graphic designer. I am a total dog lover and am very sad to announce that I lost my 2 dogs to old age/heart problems so encourage all dog lovers to share the space that was once enjoyed by my doggies. I still have my crazy arrogant house rabbit, George who hogs my wood stove, lol!. I am a very down to earth and approachable person so please do not hesitate to call me should you have any questions at all regarding the property :).
Why the Owner Chose Fort Bragg:
Beach: 3+ minutes by car, approx 20 mins by foot, approx 10 mins jogging.
By car: 8 minutes to the historical town of Fort Bragg, 20-25 minutes to the historical town of Mendocino. The beach is seconds away from the end of Airport Road where it meets HWY 1, you can either choose to park at a public car park which gives you access to the Haul road and a trail which meanders north to the beaches, rock pools, fishing/diving spots and headlands or south which takes you over the historic Pudding Creek Trestle Bridge (recently renovated) and over the headlands to the famous Glass beach. Alternatively you can park at Pudding Creek beach (where the creek meets the sea) and have direct access to the beach - the creek is more like a river and a lot more safer than the ocean for little ones to paddle in.
Situated on the end of a very private lane (off Airport Road), in an extremely safe and quiet neighborhood in the center of 3+ acres surrounded by trees and meadows - not a neighbor in sight. Loads of space for kids to run around and if you have dog(s) great to throw sticks a long long way. There is a croquet set, badminton net and rackets for outdoor fun. For fun family/romantic outdoor evenings there is a 8' by 8' hot tub (extra cost, sorry :) situated off the south deck and a fire pit situated on the patio for warmth and to toast marshmallows.
There are two ponds for your enjoyment that I am pleased to say are not easily accessed by children.
Feeling adventuress?, you can even take a walk in the surrounding woods.
Every first Friday of the month Fort Bragg has what they call 'First Friday', whereupon the galleries/book shops open there doors late for locals and guests get to preview new books and art and very generously offer free finger food and sometimes wine.
If you are looking for privacy, peace and an escape from everything yet need to pop to the beach/town/store this is the place for you :)
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
I purchased this property ultimately for privacy, space, and it is a very safe and friendly neighborhood. It has abundance of nature, wildlife and more importantly an escape from the coastal fog (that's not a promise though as she sometimes visits). Not a neighbor in sight. It's especially pleasurable to sit by the pond or on the main south facing deck drinking morning coffee or afternoon wine spritzers:). I love the layout because it has an open kitchen to the huge south facing 31' x 18' great room - perfect for entertaining. Overall the house has so much character, warmth and space and the surrounding grounds that offer plenty of meadow area for outdoor activities along with a perimeter woodland that adds total privacy.
