Wonderful mountain retreat close to Santa Fe! 04/26/2012

              VRBO Bear stayed here:

The Bear had a very hard time leaving this wonderful mountain retreat inside the Santa Fe National Forest! Thoughtfully appointed and extremely relaxing, the property made it hard to even want to venture the short ride to downtown Santa Fe – we could have spent our entire stay at the property and been completely content. We enjoyed wonderful hikes, relaxing soaks in the hot tub, incredible woodland views from the many windows, and restful slumber in the comfortable beds. All day (and night, when we chose to open the windows) we were serenaded by the pleasant babbling sound of the front yard brook – so incredibly peaceful. The very thoughtful owner had all sorts of guide books and hiking maps ready for our stay, and an extremely well-appointed kitchen to make meal prep a breeze. There are great local restaurants a short drive away, dramatic showings of hummingbirds, and a luxurious steam shower to ease away any aches from a busy day of hiking or sightseeing. Three bedrooms make this a great choice for a family or multiple couples. There were even friendly neighbor dogs that came to visit the Bear and offered to accompany us on a daily hike. We are already ready for another visit to Tesuque mountain cabin!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was AWESOME! The pictures don't do it justice - and all the little extras are what set it over the top. The steam shower, hot tub, radiant heat, hiking/restaurant suggestions and a bottle of champagne from Brian (the owner) and even the neighbor's dogs that joined us on a hike! It is a great place with all the amenities you could want - but tucked away in the mountains. We will definitely be back!

The entire family had an outstanding spring break vacation – never left the property for most of the week. The home was in perfect condition with great step-by-step instructions for all the equipment and essentials. Loved the location inside the national forest with the running creek and access to hiking right outside your front door (snow and all). The wildlife was also amazing. The owner had everything set up for us and was readily available if needed. I would recommend this rental to anyone and hope to get back during the summer at some point.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind review. Please do try and come back in the summer, you will love the humming birds!

Our family absolutely loved this cabin! It was everything that it was represented as and a lot more. The owner was so kind and helpful. He explained everything very well and had everything that we could possibly need. Everything was very neat and clean. The location is very beautiful and we loved the interaction with the wild life. We all intend to return, in fact, we discussed making it a tradition with our family. We went into Santa Fe one afternoon and enjoyed a great meal at Tomasito's. We also enjoyed a breakfast at the little village below us.

Thank you Brian for giving us the opportunity to stay in the Tesuque cabin over the New Year. We had a wonderful week and it was hard to leave. It is much bigger than the photos show and has everything you need from a well appointed kitchen to a steam shower and a hot Jacuzzi. It was very clean and well presented. The kids had a great time tobogganing in the snow, building snow men and forts and lounging in the hot tub. We found it hard to leave the peacefulness of the cabin. Feeding the Jaybirds and the smart squirrel became a daily routine. It was a special treat to stay in the forrest and we loved coming home to the quiet after a day out and soaking in the hot tub. Thanks Brian for removing the snow on the paths after it snowed and for all the help you gave us, you were a thoughtful and friendly host and even though we didn't see you often, you were very easy to deal with. I would highly recoomend this property to anyone who likes a bit of luxury in a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. We loved being close to the Tesuque village market (nice food) and easy drive to Santa Fe and the ski fields. Thea and family (Australia)

We rented this property for a week, including the Thanksgiving holiday this year. From the photos, it seems to be a beautiful home in the woods. On arrival, if this is even possible, our expectations were exceeded in every respect. The owner was there to meet us and help as needed. After showing us around, he left us to our own devices -- but was available as needed. Everything was perfect, but the setting is what really makes this house a gem. It is in the woods, completely silent except for the birds and occasional coyotes. A small brook runs through the property and can be heard at night with the windows open. The house is the epitome of privacy and sublime peace. The home is constructed on an open floor plan with a roomy feel. The master bedroom is huge; the two other bedrooms are smaller but adequate. National forest hiking trails are out the front door. A few steps away is a breathtaking view of Santa Fe from a roadside overlook. Every furnishing and amenity has been thought of. We had a spectacular time. Cannot say too many nice things about the home or the owner, who treated us as guests and not as tenants. Go. You won't be sorry.

Please come back next year!

Santa Fe in the fall is absolutely gorgeous and the canyon location showcases it. The house was great with three private bedrooms, hot tub, steam shower and open living area. It worked perfect for three couples. I definitely would recommend this place. If you are not familiar with the area you will probably want to note that you do drive up a dirt road and is a little ways out from the town of Tesuque. But if your a mountain biker it is perfect access to the Windsor Trail.

We loved everything about this place, first and foremost the location. It felt very remote, nestled in pine trees next to a creek, but was only 25 minutes from town. The house is stunning - giant glass sliders with views to the forest and lots of birds. The kitchen was great and well equipped for cooking. Hot tub by the creek was a great way to start and end the day. Very modern and very comfortable.

Owner response: Thanks so much for the great review! It really is a great location. Twenty years ago I used to ride my mountain bike by the property and say to myself "who gets to live here? Its not fair!" I can't tell you how blessed I felt when I was able to purchase the property and ultimately build my dream home; and I am so happy to be able to share it with others. Please come back soon!

It's difficult to know where to start when you have SO many wonderful things to say! The cabin itself was beautifully designed with such an attention to detail. From the votive candles near the soaking tub to the multiple, beautiful seating areas nestled amongst the trees and EVERYTHING in between! If you love a relaxing vacation, away from crowds, and lots of nature then you must make it goal to stay here! Of course, that said, the Santa Fe shopping only 20 minutes away was pretty amazing also...I could make that beautiful drive all day long! The owner stopped by to greet us and answer any and all questions we had about the property and our stay. He recommended day hikes and restaurants and more! Did I mention that when we arrived he had left a pumpkin and carving tools for us? That brought huge smiles to my kids faces! Speaking of my kids, they never wanted to leave! They loved playing in the stream bed just down from the cabin, taking steam showers, bubble baths, and sitting in the hot tub! They loved feeding peanuts to the Bluejays that wait in the trees just outside the cabin EVERY morning! It was a little too late in season for humming birds, but there are beautiful feeders everywhere! I can only imaging what that must be like! Like I said, too many good things to say and only allowed 2500 characters! All in all, I think the main thing to get across is that we will be coming back and will probably make it somewhat of a family tradition. I have posted pictures of the cabin on my Facebook page and have recommended to all my dear friends already! Thank you Bryan for such a wonderful experience and we can't WAIT to make it back! :)

Owner response: Wow Nicole, thanks for such a great review, I think you have really summed it up! I'm so glad your kids had such a great time as well. Being young and playing in a creek is a memory to cherish and it really makes me feel great that they had so much fun. Please do come back, and thanks for taking such great care of the place!

We absolutely loved the experience. Truly relaxing - wish we had more time to just hang out at the house. Great kitchen set up for group cooking and dining. Top of the line accomodations in every respect. Our group headed for the hot tub at the end of each day, with a good deal of negotiating to go first in the steam shower afterwards. My wife and I met while working at Four Seasons hotels years ago, and we still compare all of our travel stays to that standard. This is the first time in 30 years we can say we liked a place better than Four Seasons! The stonework on the house was my favorite, and I found myself absorbed by the details, both inside and out. The large windows really bring the outdoors inside. In addition to the tasteful decor and furnishings, we got a lot of use from the local reference materials, particularly the hiking guides and maps. Brain was dead on with recommendations for activities and dining - we really enjoyed Gabriels Restaurant. If you enjoy peace and quiet, this is the place. I could hear my heart beat in bed at night - no noisy neighbors, traffic or airplanes, yet all within 20 minutes to downtown Santa Fe - faster once you get used to the mountain roads. We had fun feeding the birds, squirrels and chipmunks over cofee each morning. Sitting on the deck or patio provides tranquil views in every direction. What a great way to empty your head to start a fresh day. We would absolutely go back again, and hope to do so in the near future.

Owner response: Wow! I can't tell you how much this review means to me, thank you so much. My home has been a labor of love and it feels great to share it with people who truly appreciate it the way I do. I am so happy my home reached the bar that you set 30 years ago, that really brought a smile to my face! And I must say I agree. The cabin brings me great joy and peace and I miss it when I am not there. I am so happy that other people feel the same way. Thank you and please come back!

About the owner: My name is Brian and I have lived in this paradise for over 17 years and now its time to share.

              Why the Owner Chose Tesuque:
This is the only location thats this close to Santa Fe, inside the national forest, on a stream that affords total privacy and high quality of living. I feel so blessed to have been able to live up here all these years. I can never get over how beautiful Pacheco Canyon is!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This home was designed by and award winning designer - no boring architecture here. The home was planned to feel like the outdoors and indoors were one, and I truly think we succeeded. Sitting by the creek, watching the humming birds, having margaritas on the deck - or in the hot tub. Mountain biking and skiing right out the front door - endless miles of hiking and exploring, watching the birds - it never gets old! The only problem with staying up here is that you will not want to leave....Santa whaa?
