Lynda greeted us kindly, offering us organic soaps and chapstick and telling us she would be available at any time we needed her. She was wonderful. The home is gorgeous and the walk to the river is beautiful. We spent our days hiking in the Hoh Forest and on the beaches and our evenings making food, playing guitar, and sipping wine near the woodstove. I'm a writer who was doing research throughout the Peninsula, and the house was located in the perfect spot for me to visit all the locations on my agenda while still getting home in time to relax by the fire. I wish we never had to leave! We hope to be back soon.

We stayed a week in this beautiful cabin. It is your home away from home. So clean and cozy and everything you need!! Dave and Lynda are perfect hosts and see to it your visit is perfect. Including some extra goodies!!! The wolf den made a perfect base to see all the beautiful sites on the Olympic Peninsula. There is so much to see and do, especially if you love the outdoors like we do!! If you are planning a trip to this wonderful area, look no further than the Wolf Den!!

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Wolf Den! We were happy to be a part of your first trip to the West Coast and that you found some great smoked salmon to enjoy while you were here. You guys sure got some great beach pictures while you were here. I enjoyed looking at your photos of the Hoh Rainforest too. We look forward to you staying with us again. I saw you took in the Timber Museum and found it very interesting too. Thanks for staying with us, Pam, Don and Denise! Glad that Denise could fit all of her beach combing treasures into her suitcase. Our beaches are the best and so close to the cabin; we even love to go visit the beach on stormy days and find the best treasures on the beach after a storm. You had the best of both while you were here-some nice sunshine and a bit of the liquid sunshine that makes the rainforest so beautiful here. Thanks again for staying with us!

Lynda & Dave, I want to thank you again and express my graitutude for your friendly hospitality, accommodation and and all the details and customization that made Wolf Den log cabin a wonderful experience and family memory for our Olympic Peninsula getaway. We especially appreciated: The expansive property to roam, take photos, play horse shoes, look at the lambs (especially the 1 month old Sweetie Pie), swing wildly on the tire swing, hike the trail down to the river, watch the beaver make it's rounds in the river, and spot Humming Birds and Blue Jays. The attention to detail inside the home, the amazing craftmanship of the cabin itself, the wonderful woodworking and custom furniture througout, the layout including the huge loft upstairs, all the games and dvds to keep us playing through the night, the gourmet coffee beans and local honey, the farm fresh dozen eggs (sooo fresh, really nice!), hand made Wolf Den branded soaps, and popcorn for the popper. Also the nice new appliances, HE washer/dryer and dishwahser, your ecoSMART water heater (hot water for all!) and the aboslute cleanliness of the house, it looked brand new, shiny sufaces and perfectly clean new carpets. We hope to make this a destination again in the future and let all our friends and family know what an excellent choice the Wolf Den was for us. Sincerely, Albert & Miwa

Owner response: Thank you so much for choosing Wolf Den Cabin for your family get away. We are so glad you got to see our resident beaver family at the pond by the river and that you had some sunshine for your trips to the beach. The view as you drive down into La Push is one our guests always remember. I am sorry you did not get to see the elk while you were here. Most of our guests do get the chance to enjoy our local herd of about 38 animals. I am sure there are some young ones this year since last year's count. Many of our guests have seen the larger elk herd in the Hoh Rainforest while they were sightseeing in our beautiful Olympic National Park. We would love to have you return for another visit. Next time bring your fishing gear:) thanks again and come on back, Sincerely, Lynda and Dave at Wolf Den

My husband and I loved staying in your beautiful cabin! It was so peaceful. We loved all the birds, and we loved getting attention from your dog Abby. I liked hanging out with the sheep, and to see the pretty baby lambs! The river was beautiful, and we could not have asked for a better stay or better hosts! Thank you for sharing the beauty of the Wolf Den Cabin with us! We hope to be back soon! Jen & Wayne

Owner response: Thanks Jen and Wayne, we enjoyed your stay with us at Wolf Den. We finally figured out why the little chick-a-dee kept pecking at the window-she had a nest in one of the deck planters with two little pale blue speckled eggs. I am glad you enjoyed our lambs-we have a new bottle baby that was born just a couple of days after you left. I hope you got to see the elk herd that were out in the field. Glad we had some nice beach weather while you were here. Hopefully the Sol Duc Hot Springs will be open next time you visit us. It is very relaxing and the drive to it is beautiful with some nice areas to hike along the way. We look forward to you staying with us again. Lynda and Dave

We had 3 generations staying here - one grandma, two parents, one 5 1/2-yr-old and one 3-yr-old. We all loved it! We stayed 3 nights. The house itself was beautiful on the inside. Once we had kids in bed it was nice to sit around with a glass of wine and just look at all the beautiful wood. There was absolutely nothing missing from what we needed in the kitchen. Highlights for the kids: tire swing, Abby (the cute dog that greeted them in the yard and would walk with them), Jacuzzi bathtub Highlights for the parents: very close to the beach, short drive to Kalaloch tidal pools & Hoh rainforest, fully stocked kitchen... and Nick Jr & Disney Jr were available when we needed kids to settle down while we made dinner. Great place for family time in between excursions. Lots of room.

Owner response: Thank you Suzanne, for the great review! We enjoyed your family. Wolf Den Cabin is our dream house and we are very pleased to have guests appreciate the wood and decor. It took us almost ten years to really have it all finished. Much of the furniture is handcrafted from salvaged wood. I was a cook so we have tried to make the kitchen very serviceable for families. You could even bake a cake. We love the beaches as well and appreciate the beauty of being in the rain forest. It is just three and half miles to the Olympic National Park entrance and six miles to Rialto Beach, with La Push marina just five miles away. We were glad our local elk herd was in the field one morning too. We had a bottle lamb born just a few days after your stay--the children would have loved helping me bottle feed Sweetie Pie as I know they enjoyed our older babies. Bottle lambs are so cuddly as they think they are a people. Thanks again for choosing Wolf Den and we look forward to your return! Dave and Lynda

Could not have picked a better place to stay. All the other reviews here are so right on. We came as sisters and mother in law 8 of us all together and felt like it was our own cabin in the Twilight woods. Plenty of space, plenty of beds we were so cozy. Plush carpet! Very well constructed and new! Lynda was so sweet and personable. There was a dozen eggs from their chickens in the fridge when we arrived along with some homemade jam. In the morning we found that the porch steps were salted down so that it wouldn't be slippery for us. Is that service or what? Plenty of chopped wood for us just outside the door on the side covered porch for the wood burning stove. We were warm and toasty that is for sure. Kitchen had everything! We brought our food and never ate out once. This was just the right place for all us mom's of little kids to go for a get away. No interruptions just peace and quiet. We got to sleep in! There is a pathway to the pond and a neat tire swing. Saw and eagle out the front window in the morning and whales spouting water from the La Push Beach in the afternoon. It truly was amazing. Loved going to all the Twilight sights and was exciting for us Twilighter's to know that Jacob Black lived right across the street! I would highly recommend This cabin! Would love to come back again. One little disappointment was that the Dazzled by Twilight Store in town (Forks) was out of business, but that did not reflect on our great stay for the weekend.

Owner response: Thanks Shila and girls! Glad you enjoyed Wolf Den Cabin you were wonderful guests; thank you for choosing us for your girls get away! Glad you got to see the whales at La Push; friends told me they were in and friends had been down to watch them too. My broken foot is a bit of a hindrance on the beach. I wish our local elk herd would have co-operated-they were in the front yard just days before your stay. I wondered if you got to see the otters and beavers at the pond? Down at the river there were two new eagle families building nests in trees that you could see from the trail. We do enjoy hearing the eagles whislte and watching them soar. Yes, the Dazzled by Twlight store closed but I hope you visited the Native to Twlight store across the street as they have most of the inventory from Dazzled by Twlight, plus more including many local and native made items. Dave (Wolf Den builder) has a lovely Yew wood and cedar chair in their store. Did I tell you the Hillywoods filmed one of their Twlight spoofs here at Wolf Den? They filmed it two summers ago now, down by the river. Glad you enjoyed the cozy wood fire--we love it. We do try to keep the kitchen well supplied for our guests that want to cook so happy you had what you needed. We look forward to you visiting us again! Lynda and Dave

Amazing and beyond my expectations!! Linda and Dave are incredible hosts. My family was impressed with cabin and all its amenities. The beds are extremely comfortable and everything is so clean. I was able to cook like if i were at home because the kitchen is stocked with cookware and dishes. It is absolutely perfect and cozy! My children did not want to leave and already talking about our next trip to this cabin. So much to see and do in this area and 3 days was not enough, but we were able to spend quality time as a family! Definitely recommend this property because it is first class! Thank you Linda for making our last minute getaway possible!!

Owner response: Thank you Lorie and Marty! We sure enjoyed your visit with us. Glad you had a good stay and look forward to your next trip. Hopefully when Jasmine looks in the nest next time she will find some fresh eggs:0 Glad you got to see our local elk herd while you were here too nd you found the beaches were nice even with a bit of winter. We were happy we had a time slot open that worked for your quick break. Next time we hope you will have a larger window and be able to enjoy the Hoh Rain Forest and the Sol Duc Hot Springs--your young family would truly enjoy the children's pools as well as the large pool. The trail into the Hoh Rain Forest is a nice walk with young children and very beautiful; with lots of wildlife, moss draped trees, fern strewn trails with many wildflowers in the spring and summer. Stayed here with other 3 friends for a weekend at the end of October. The host was extremely friendly and provided all sorts of little extras; like homemade preserves, fresh baked cookies, and even smoked salmon! The cabin was very clean and comfortable - the woodstove and large Jacuzzi tub are nice features too. 1 hour drive to port angeles and only 10 minutes from Rialto beach (which I think would be good for surfing). Really happy with the place... highly recommended!

Owner response: Thank you, your were terrific guests! We were sorry our hens were on strike but so glad you enjoyed the smoked salmon. We hope you saw our local elk herd while you were here. You sure had some perfect fall weather. We love our beaches and the beach hiking trails are even closer than Rialto. We were glad to hear you enjoyed the board games in the evening. Thanks for recommending us and we look forward to you coming back for another visit! Next time you will have to bring your fishing gear and surf boards too--we have had several groups of surfers stay and enjey the surfing at La Push and Rialto. Wolf Den, Lynda and Dave

We stayed in Wolf Den in the last week of august 2011. We enjoyed the stay very mutch. The cabin has a lot of space and is perfect for a family with teenagers (witch we are). We felt not like customers, but like guests. The opportunities for hiking and the close distance to La Push beach and Rialto beach are great. Wish we could come and visit every year, but since we live in Holland, that will not be possible, unfortunately!

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

Owner response: Thank you, we certainly enjoyed your family! We are glad you had such a great time. It was nice to have you for neighbors for a week. We would love to visit your cottage in Holland some day! I forgot to ask if you had any luck fishing? Glad you saw some deer and wish you had seen our elk heard too. Thanks for staying at Wolf Den.

                      Year Purchased: 1995

About the owner: We were born in the Forks area and still love the area. We began work on our dream home, your vacation home, in 1995. It took us nearly ten years to complete the cabin. We had dreamed of bulding a log home and were finally able to achieve this dream. It was a joy to use salvaged local wood in this home and bring out its natural beauty. Our family is third generation timber industry. We love the beauty of the rain forest that surrounds us here in the Olympic Peninsula. We have delighted in the forests, the rivers, mountains, the fishing and especially the beaches. We are happy to share the beauty of our home and area with our guests. Our goal is to make each of our guests stay something special. We hope each one will be as delighted with the cabin and the area as we have been. We love walking to the river and driving down to the beach often. The river is just a short walk away. After thirty plus years in the timber industry it was a privelage and challenge to reveal the beauty and warmth of wood in our vacation home. It was also a pleasure to craft many of the furnishings in our wood shop. We also enjoy the farm animals and hope all of our guests will too.

                      Why the Owner Chose Forks:
We chose to build our dream house in this location as the property is beautiful and close to the beaches. We are just a short hike away from the river-a nice fishing hole and swimming in the summer. The mossy draped trees, thick ferns and wildlife is another reason we chose this area. In 1984 we first looked at this property and decided to purchase it. In 1995 we were finally able to build our log home. We hope you will enjoy this place as much as we have-we are happy to share it with you our guests. We also chose this location as Forks is a wonderfully friendly town; I love going shopping and having a social outing as I shop at the local grocery store. We feel we have the best of both worlds as the beach is less the five miles away and we love bon fires at the beach, beachcombing, even surf fishing, and whale watching.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Staying in a real log cabin is somehting many folks dream of and here you can achieve your dream. The cabin glows with mellow light from the warm natural wood salvaged from the local forests and the light from the five tiered chandeliers.. Watch the Elk from the large bay window seat in the dining room or from the large living room windows. In the moring I love to get my coffee and sit in the reading nook under the stairs behind the cozy wood stove. The kitchen is large and spacious so it is very convenient for prepare a large family meal or smaller gourmet meal. I was a professional cook and baker so a large kitchen is very important to me and we love to have friends and family in for a meal. The balconies are lovely for a Elk watching with a nice glass of ice tea. I also love to fill the jetted tub clear up and soak with a good book:)
