Woodland Park cabin description
Talk about a very nicely done home, all the upgrades a person could want. Not only is the home of the best quality but it's location was specifically chosen for the incredible views - 360% mountain views -the very best of Pikes Peak. Home overlooks the town of Woodland Park. Wrap around deck, Hot tub, Theater room, Internet etc. The driveway is a little bit of a challenge. It is a very well maintained driveway, but a little steep with some switch backs - but not cliff hangers, just a little steep. All wheel or 4 wheel is REQUIRED all year round. Lots of parking by the house, in addition there is one parking space at the bottom of the driveway, and across the road at the trail head, if you should choose to use one of your 4 wheel/all wheel vehicles to shuttle people up.
Talk about being spoiled - these bathrooms are something else. The lower level is set up as a separate suite - with a bedroom, kitchenette, living area and bathroom There are beds for 8, and lots of space for air mattresses if you choose to bring some.
So much to do and see: This cabin, located on the outskirts of Woodland Park, is right in the middle of so much to do. Something for everyone. Minutes from National Forest - Rampart Range Reservoir, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, take a ride on the Pikes Peak Cog, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls etc. Or do a couple day trips and head over to the Canon City area and do some river rafting and visit the Royal Gorge. (within an hour) Or head over to the best ski areas - Breckenridge, Vail, Copper mountain - within 2 hours. So much to do
This Luxury Home: This luxury home is one that you have to visit to really appreciate. Very well designed. Nice wood burning stove to help keep any chill off. Hot water in floor heating. Hot tub! Wrap around deck, partially covered, with 360% mountain views. The absolute very best views of Pikes Peak - bring your camera. A wonderful theater room, catch a movie with the whole family. Borders National Forest - make your own trails, or at the bottom of the driveway is a trail head with a really nice trail, that goes for miles. The driveway is a little steep - but it is well worth the challenge - see more information in the description.
Rampart Range: Just a couple miles down the road you will find the Rampart Range Recreational area and the Rampart Range Reservoir. Hike, fish, 4 wheel - just get out and enjoy our mountains, the blue sky and the fresh air!

The best view around.
The best view around.
The view from Freedom Ranch was even better than we expected. The house was great with everything we needed. We did have problems getting up the driveway in our Chrysler Town and Country van on the 3rd switchback. Right after the switchback the driveway has a rise in it and is a little loose.Tried several times in our van, but it would just dig in, even with traction control. Fortunately we reserved an all wheel drive beforehand just in case.. No problems with the all wheel drive. Only complaint was that the grill on the porch ran out of gas right before I was about to grill some steaks.. Other than that it was great.. Wish we could have stayed longer. Oh.. One thing, if you're out on the porch , even the covered part, you might want to go inside if you see rain coming.. Didn't see any lightning in clouds coming, but we headed inside and right before I walked into the sliding door lightning struck. Saw a 4 to 5 foot arc from corner of porch right before the big bang.. Not sure what it struck on the house, but remember the house is the highest thing on the mountain.. We heard that the house had been sold and will no longer be available to rent after September.. Enjoy it while you can..

Manager response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Glad you had the all wheel drive vehicle as back up - as we are pretty adamant and insistent that anyone booking the home MUST have all wheel or 4 wheel drive - but it is worth it. We always have 2 BBQ propane tanks on sight just for that reason - did you not see a 2nd tank?? We will get up there and make sure there a two. Hope you can come back an try out one of our other beautiful cabins.
We stayed at Freedom House for several days and wish we would have stayed longer. We had a few questions about internet that were dealt with quickly and with complete professionalism. It was a fun place to stay and the driveway, which I was afraid would scare me, was less scary than expected. We made it up the driveway (no snow) with a Honda Odessey and a Volkswwagon Jetta both with front-wheel drive and traction control. A few times we had to back up a short distance and retry with more gas over the highest grades of the drive-way. However, the driveway was very safe with plenty of overhang of gravel not needed for the car to travel that made you feel safe and secure on the drive-way. The theatre in the basement was awesome, the view of Pikes Peak gorgeous and the National Forest next to the property interesting to explore and adds to increase privacy. Woodman Park was our favorite part of our Colorado trip!

This house is beautiful, the kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and the views of Pike's Peak from the wrap around deck and the living room are awesome. It's centrally located and fairly close to state and national parks, sightseeing, hiking, restaurants and a grocery store, but the house itself feels secluded. Though we were advised that the driveway is somewhat steep and four wheel drive is necessary, it took us a couple of days to be comfortable getting to the house, but this was a minor, and the only, drawback. Will definitely stay here again!

Freedom Ranch Rental Review 7/2/2011
Freedom Ranch Rental Review 7/2/2011
The cabin and views were beautiful. We had 11 persons (5 adults, 4 tweens, and 2 toddlers) in our party and there was plenty of room. We had a wonderful vacation just hanging out at the cabin, but it was close to the town and several other tourist activities if we were "bored". The only things that were disappointing was the hot tub heater was not working, as well as the washer/dryer. We were not given a heads-up about either before we arrived, so it was a little bit of a downer. Otherwise, we will definitely consider going back again next year. p.s. MUST have a 4/All wheel drive to get up the driveway!

Manager response: We are so glad you enjoyed this wonderful cabin, it is fast becoming the favorite. We are so sorry to hear that you were not advised ahead of time, especially if we knew a head of time. We had a technician scheduled to fix the hot tub and I do believe he was up there while you were there but not sure if he had to order parts or not. Anyway - we cannot always guarantee that the hot tubs will be working, but we go the mile to make sure they are up and running. Our hot tub repair person is on call and give us his top priority. So sorry it was not working for your stay. Both are operational now.
