Accommodations:  House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

Peaceful, wooded riverfront property, vacation home

Four bedroom, cedar-sided home on the Cacapon River, just 12 scenic miles from Berkeley Springs. The home is surrounded by black walnut trees and sits on six acres with mountain views and 288 feet of private riverfront.

The house will accommodate 8 people comfortably in 4 bedrooms --
3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom on first floor. The 4 bedrooms contain 1 king, 2 queens, and 2 extra long twins. The upstairs bathroom includes a shower and a garden tub. The downstairs bathroom has a shower.

There is a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. The family room has a gas fireplace and scenic views from the picture window. The screened-in porch and deck overlook the woods.

The Cacapon River is a beautiful, clear water river offering good fishing, tubing, canoeing, and kayaking right from the property. The main gamefish is the smallmouth bass, but the Cacapon also contains largemouth bass, catfish, and panfish.

The house was built on the site of the original homestead. The stone foundation of the original house has been preserved and is an interesting place to explore or to just sit and enjoy nature. The area around the house contains many black walnut trees. If you're staying during September or October, feel free to gather as many walnuts as you like. They are delicious in baked goods.

We have tried to preserve as much of the property as possible in its natural state. Wildlife is abundant.

    • If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and relax without being too far from civilization, you can't do better than this property. The house is wonderfully designed and equipped, and the owners provide lots of extras, including feed for the numerous deer and birds which visit the property regularly - we had 18 deer in our front yard one evening, and by the end of the week they were eating out of our hands. The screened in porch was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature, which included bullfrogs in a pond next door and lots of woodpeckers. The drive into the property along the Cacapon River is very pretty, and should be gorgeous in the fall. We definitely want to return to this house!

    • We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this inviting and cozy property. The house was in perfect condition; spacious, and offered all of the comforts of home--hand-made quilts, Direct TV, large bathrooms, very nicely appointed--we could not have asked for more. The screened-in portch was relaxing and offered an upclose-and-personal view of the deer and other wildlife. Berkeley Springs was fun--with a nice choice of restaurants and galleries. We sure are looking forward to our return trip!

    • We had a wonderful time at this cabin & hope to be able to return again. My daughter was just over a year old and really enjoyed herself. We all slept better than ever because it is so quiet and gets so dark. It rained almost the entire time we were there, but we still had a wonderful time & would love to go back again!

    • I stayed at this property and had a wonderful time. The house is very comfortable and very clean, with all the amenities of home. The location is peaceful and full of wildlife. I would highly recommend staying here. Also, the spas at Berkely Springs are a must. A truely relaxing experience.

    • This is a fantastic place. There are too many good things to mention. It is extremely clean and very well maintained. It is comfortable for an extended family of 8 with ample privacy for all. During the evenings the deck and screen porch provided us with lots of space for catching up and playing cards etc. The couch potatoes were also comfortable in the family room. Washing and Dryer are essential if you are using the river, as was the abundant stack of plushy linens. River had some great fishing although it is a bit of a hike from the house to the river if you are carrying canoes or kayaks (there is a launch down the road though if you prefer) Please take care of this as we plan to visit each year.
