• Nice Townhome... But Too Many Stairs

  We recently stayed in this townhome for 5 nights. It is very nicely decorated, & the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. It was very clean and well maintained. But, I would not stay there again. First of all, the townhome was very difficult to locate. After several attempts, we were able to locate the rental using a windshield mounted GPS, IPhone directions, & an IPad app. It is especially difficult to locate at night. Parking is on the street which was a long, dark walk to the townhome. To reach the townhome, you must take a long, set of steep, concrete stairs that are very poorly lighted down to a small courtyard where the main entrance is located. When you reach the townhome, the master bedroom and a second bedroom are on the top floor! You must go up two very long staircases plus another short set of stairs to get to these bedrooms. Three and a half flights of stairs is too many staircases to have to haul luggage! I think the rental description on VRBO needs to include the number of stairs. If we had a difficult time lugging our suitcases up all those flights of stairs, I know that older renters and/or those with back issues simply would not be able to do it. The townhome has three and a half floors. There is a very small bedroom and bath on the bottom floor, a small den on the second floor, a kitchen, eating area & 1/2 bath on the next floor, and two bedrooms with a shared bath on the top/fourth floor. There is also a laundry closet with w/d on the top floor. I thought the bedrooms were very small. The master bedroom only had one bedside table; therefore, the unfortunate one who slept on the side w/o a table did not have a lamp or place to lay glasses, phone, etc. The den was very small and only seated three people comfortably. We could not get the dvd player to work, but we were not there much, so it wasn't a big deal. As one comes to expect in Seattle, recycling is an ordeal. The detailed townhouse "notebook" that contained all the information about the townhome informed us that if we did not recycle properly and the rental company had to come out and sort through our garbage/recycling, there would be a $50 fine charged to our credit card! Mercy! Overall it was nothing more than an average stay. We will return to Seattle many more times in the future because our son lives there. With so many great places to stay in Seattle, we will not be staying at this townhome again.

  Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house itself is great, but the bedrooms are a bit small. It is situated in a very inconvenient location. The only parking available is on the street which means you have to park down the block on Queen Anne Ave. The house is situated in such a way that there is no easy way to bring your car in and drop off your stuff...you have to walk it all the way from your car. Also, since this house sleeps six, it's pretty difficult to find parking together for three cars. This is more of a function of the location in the Queen Anne neighborhood than the house itself. I wouldn't stay in this neighborhood again.

The condo is clean, very well appointed, and well kept. It has a central location. It is on three levels so for those with climbing difficulties, this may be an issue. The parking garage is small and difficult to access for larger cars. However, nearby street parking is not a problem. In summary, a wonderful rental condo in a beautiful city.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was in Seattle for a wedding and was close to wedding venue, plus all the downtown Seattle locations. Only drawback was the lack of parking (but this is Seattle after all) and a neighbor's party late Saturday night. The townhouse was spotless, and the kitchen well equipped. So much better than a hotel, and more economical. Highly recommend this location for anyone needing an extended stay facility.

  Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great piece of property and very nicely appointed. Management provides you with a number for the keypad for entrance to the condo during your stay which was perfect. The location is central, with easy access to everywhere. I thought that the upstairs carpets and stairs could use a cleaning thus the reason for my 4 star rating for the property being clean. The carpets were not bad enough to make me call to express concerns but it was noticeable. Everything else was spotless!!!! I was very satisfied with Sea to Sky, this was the first time that we have used them and will do so again. We agreed with the reviews about parking, it is poorly designed for garage access, HOWEVER, street parking was very easy and spaces on the street were in close proximity. A plus was that you can pull up to the front door to load and unload and that was VERY NICE for arrival, departure and groceries!!!! The larger the vehicle the more difficult this is to do though. The condo is in walking distance to Fremont and downtown Queen Anne so that was a plus. If you have an elderly person they must be able to navigate stairs! The neighbors in the abutting condos were quiet and pleasant. For parents of small ones, two bedrooms are on the very top level (third floor) of the condo (king and queen) and the third bedroom in on the entry level. I would stay again! Thank you Sea to Sky!

The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great place but the garage is useless unless you want to store a bike or a smart car. A normal sized car cannot fit. Other than that the location is great. Beautiful property, close to everything. I gave the property management only 3 stars because we arrived at 2am. The code they gave us was incorrect. We called the emergency number and it took 20 minutes before they got back to us with a new code. At 2am, 20 minutes is too long. Despite that if I come back to Seattle, I would stay here again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Loved the fully equipped kitchen. Tried the air conditioner, but not only was it noisy and didn't work, it also seemed to blow out a lot of dust. Also, we drove straight from the airport and arrived at 2:45pm. A maintenance person arrived and reported to sea to sky that we were there. We were chastised about arriving before the 4pm check in time,which we thought a bit too strict. Otherwise, we loved the place and would definitely stay again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The place was great. We were able to relax and it was conveniently located for all we wanted to do. The apartment is well laid out for families with the separate bathrooms on separate floors. Nice communal space as well. The only comment that I have is that it was a little awkward to get in and out of; we were confused about the garage, which was included in the emailed directions, but it is very small and a sign in the house told us not to use it. Street parking was available, so we used that, but the parking is a bit confusing at first. Make sure to get that clear first, but it's not a huge problem. Manager responded on 9/26/2011: I am sorry for the confusing directions regarding the use of the garage! All documents have been updated and we do not allow for parking in the garage.   Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sheets were replete with someone else's hair, pretty gross. Sheets were poor quality, some synthetic that was quite itchy, we went out and bought some cotton ones to use while we were there. Manager replaced the sheets after we complained but they were still cheap. Overall property is in fair condition, not very clean and needs a refresh on the paint. The bed was cheap, no one slept very well. Air conditioners are of the "window rattler" variety which could be heard in the lower floor! It wasn't particularly hot when we were there and we had to have the a/c going due to the stuffiness of the upper floor. The little courtyard out back had weeds growing two feet high. The garage is useless unless you drive a Mini, don't even THINK of parking a SUV in it. Location is good, Queen Anne has terrific restaurants and shops.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was awesome. It met all of the needs for our large group of 6. The only thing that was wrong was the BBQ grill was in no condition to grill food on, it hadn't been cleaned in a long time and was rusted from sitting in the rain with the lid off. Other than that it was great. We had no trouble parking (on the street, we really aren't sure how someone could get a car into the garage). The house was in an exellant location for access to Seattle or to get onto HWY 5 and go out of town for the day. There are lots of places to eat and visit in the Queen Anne area as well. Manager responded on 9/26/2011: It is very unfortunate that the grill was not in proper condition for your use. I apologize and want to ensure future guests that the grill has been cleaned and is in great working condition. Anytime you encounter an issue on our properties we will address it at the soonest opportunity. Please be sure to let our office know if you find something out of place so we can take care of it. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The only negative was trying to maneuver rental car into garage. It was very tight so we ended up parking on street. Manager responded on 9/26/2011: We do not advertise garage parking at this property because of the strange configuration of the driveway into the garage. In fact, we ask people specifically not to park in the garage. Please keep in mind that there is plenty of street parking available. Thank you!
