Now to our listing...
Leave the world behind in our authentic one room Maine cabin located on six wooded, undisturbed acres. Well away from the main residence, this cabin has served us for many years as a guest house for family and friends. Near Acadia National Park, our cabin is quiet, in a rural setting with abundant wildlife. One thousand feet off the main road, you'll be able to take long walks, fish our pond, pick berries, have frog races with the kids, explore, and enjoy yourself. The property includes about two thousand feet of private roads and walking paths, free from vehicle traffic. The cabin is about 500 square feet in size and has a single indoor bathroom complete with shower/tub combination.
There is much to do in this area of Maine, our cabin is a short drive to many areas of interest including Acadia National Park, Bangor, Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. Numerous lakes are not more than a few miles away, offering boating, swimming and fishing. Fresh lobster and clams for dinner are never far away, we even provide the pot to cook them in!
Maybe you plan to travel to Maine this year and have a party larger than our cabin can accommodate, or you would just like to have some more room. Please remember that we do have a larger residence available as well, on the same property, our mobile home, which sleeps five. If your party is extra-large, both residences are available, each completely private from the other. Please check with us for availability.
Thanks for taking the time to look at our cabin, we hope you will come and visit with us, but wherever you decide to vacation this year, have a great time!

Amy and I had such a fun Mother/Daughter get-away in Maine and at the cabin. Andy and Joni were very helpful and we loved the blueberry muffins we had for breakfast and the chocolate kisses. I enjoyed going out each morning and walking around the cabin area. We had a picnic one night and played Parcheesi. It was a great location to tour Acadia, Bar Harbor, Schoodic Point and we spent one afternoon shopping in Ellsworth and eating blueberry ice cream. Thanks for your hospitality. I want to bring my husband with me as he would love all the nature.

Owner response: And we are glad you visited and had a good time! Maybe the nicest thing about our cabin is that it's pretty quiet and nature is all around you. Even with the seclusion, it's easy and quick to get to many of the points of interest along the coast or to just drive into town to shop. Visitors tell us again and again that they enjoyed the time they spent together at our cabin. We cannot tell you how much this pleases us! We hope one day you will visit Maine again and always have fond memories of it. Thanks again for visiting!

Andy & Joanie were very hospitable helped us with any question we had. The cabin is no frills, but very well equiped even a large pot to do your own lobsters in.My husband even caught a trout in the pond( he put it back so the next one fishing has a chance). If you want a clean, quiet, comfortable & economical place to spend time, this is the place for you!

Owner response: Thanks so much for your review and kind comments. It was a pleasure having you both stay with us. We hope you enjoyed visiting Acadia, Bar Harbor, and Schoodic Point, all so close to the cabin, just a short drive away. As we say, there is much to do in this area, vacations here are always too short! We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: We are semi-retired and spend as much time in Franklin as possible throughout the year, traveling there by car with our dog and cat who are great friends themselves. While we spend much time working on the property, one of our favorite things to do lately has been fishing in and around Union River Bay. We haven't quite got the saltwater fishing scene there figured out yet but the beauty of the river and bay make up for it.
Why the Owner Chose Franklin:
My parents moved to Maine in 1985. Summer travel for my family always included a trip to Franklin to see them. Franklin is unlike towns that tourists normally visit. It is real, rural, coastal Maine, the Maine visitors often miss, with giant lakes and streams, rolling hills and forest. From the coastline to more interior sections, this area is incredibly beautiful as well as peaceful.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Since the main residence is a short walk away, you'll be able to meet us and we'll be available to answer questions and attend to problems if something should need attention. We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. We enjoy a morning walk with our dog, walking all the paths as well as around the pond. We never know what wildlife we will see next. We enjoy the local 'bean suppers' and breakfasts, especially at the Eastbrook Grange. One of the best things about the cabin's location and seclusion is that after a busy day visiting the National Park, shopping in Bar Harbor or sightseeing in the area, you can return to this very quiet spot in it's rural area, and just relax, completely removed from what can be a busy vacation destination.
