This beautifully situated mountain home with huge windows sits just off the road fifteen minutes up above Ridgway on Miller Mesa at 9000 ft. The views of the Sneffels range will take your breath away. (Every time we are up there, I still stand on the deck and stare at Mt. Sneffels, Teakettle Mtn., Mt. Ridgway, Whitehouse Mtn., etc.)
The home has two bedrooms downstairs; one has a king and the other a queen. There is a shared half bath between the two bedrooms and a separate room with a shower and a sink. Upstairs, the bedroom has two twin beds and a double, as well as a 3/4 bathroom with a shower.
The wood-burning stove divides the Great Room into a cozy living room and a dining area, with the kitchen open to the whole room.
There is a two-car attached garage and plenty of uncovered parking for an RV or a boat or a trailer with whatever you want to bring along.
A short drive up the county road will take you into the National Forest for hiking, fishing, huts.
A short drive (15 minutes) back to Ridgway will bring you to the town green, playground, restaurants, a grocery store, and the lovely, secluded Orvis Hot Springs (clothing optional) or to Ridgway State Park / Reservoir for boating, fishing or beach play. A little farther drive (25 minutes total), brings you to Ouray where you can swim in the Ouray Hot Springs pool, or hike a wide variety of hikes, do rock climbing or ice climbing. In an hour's drive from the house, you can be in Telluride for skiing, shopping, music festivals, etc.
Note that the hot tub is available May through October or upon special arrangement otherwise.

Words and pictures can't begin to describe this property or the breathtaking views from the deck. We were looking for something in the middle of the San Juan Mt. area (Montrose, Ouray, Silverton, Telluride, etc.) and this property was perfectly located. While there are other houses nearby, there was still a feeling of privacy. One must experience sunrise, sunset and the night sky from the deck/hot tub. Bring your own or rent a Jeep and enjoy some of the best 4 Wheeling to be found anywhere (be sure to visit Anamas Forks ghost town and Clear Lake at almost 12,000 ft.). Plan to be in Silverton to watch the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge train arrive (if it is still open and you like real Mexican food try Romeo's Cantina y Restaurante on Green St. in Silverton). For the pavement junkie one could spend a week exploring/sightseeing and still not see everything. BUT, no matter what else you do, be sure to take the time to enjoy the house and a view which puts many things into perspective.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I with my cousin and her family rented the house for a week. We had a great time. The views were spectacular. The huge windows were like picture frames to the natural beauty and to the ever changing views. We saw eagles and hawks soaring in the beautiful background. My husband got some beautiful photos. The house has an open floor plan so you never felt cramped it feels very spacious, with plenty of room to move around. It had plenty of room With 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and 1 bedroom that sleeps 4 upstairs with it own bathroom We enjoyed the huge deck and had our meals out there. The area was peaceful and serene, it was a nice change from the rat race we live in. We have family in the area and had other another part of the family rent another home and had a large family vacation. We hosted a family dinner one evening and had a total of 16 people. We cocktails and appetizers on one side of the deck and Dinner on the other. There was plenty for room to cook dinner in the kitchen and serve it on the counter top and breakfast bar. We sat out on the deck for dinner and enjoyed the evening and the evening skies. As it got dark and we sat on the deck and stargazed, also enjoyed after dinner drinks and made s'mores. It was a wonderful evening had by all. I forgot my telescope at home, which was a shame. Well, I will just have to bring it next time. We will come back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We rented the house, with my cousin and her family for a week & really enjoyed ourselves. The views were spectacular. We felt that we were right next to the beautiful mountains. The huge windows were like picture frames to the natural beauty, changing throughout the day. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and having our meals. It was so peaceful and serene just to get away from the rat race and relax. The wildlife was spectacular, The eagles and hawks soaring in the beautiful background. My husband took some beautiful photos. We have family in the area and other family members rented another house and had a family vacation. We had a family dinner one evening The Deck was the perfect place for the family dinner, very large wraparound spacious deck. We did Cocktails & appetizers on one side and Dinner on the other. The home has a large Great Room with the Kitchen and Dining area. Plenty of room for serving dinner in the Kitchen and eating outside. The home is very open and spacious. Plenty of room for a large family. 2 bedrooms downstairs with Bathroom and a loft bedroom that sleeps 4 people and a bathroom. The house has everything you need for a vacation with beautiful scenery. Our party enjoyed a wonderful stay at Shaggy (the owners' nickname for their fun 70s-style A-frame vacation home) in late June. The views of the San Juans from all points around the house could not be beat. Wildflowers, butterflies and birds were everywhere; and we caught many glimpses of deer and various other mountain critters. The home was comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked. The giant wrap-around porch and the swing chair out front were excellent for taking in all the scenery and relaxing. The WiFi worked great, which was important for us, as we were mixing work with vacation. The neighbors were extremely friendly, and even brought over their horses for us to ride one afternoon. We look forward to returning to Shaggy and the beautiful gateway to the San Juans soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I traveled from the Denver area with my family of 5 and 2 friends to this beautiful property. The San Juan Mountains are so beautiful you could try to describe them but it would never do them justice. The house was beautiful with the most amazing view. They are equipped with everything you could possibly need for a great vacation. I love to cook so I appreciated the spice drawer with every spice you would ever need. We enjoyed seeing the deer every night at dinner time, just feet away, and the herd of elk nearby was another great photo op. We will definitely return and recommend this property to anyone that wants to relax away from the chaos but still be close enough to enjoy all that Ouray offers. My husband is a fly fisherman and he loved fishing the Pa-Co-Chu-Pak. The State Park there was a hit with all of us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why Ridgway:
We fell in love with this property immediately. The views are amazing and the setting peaceful. We love to get outdoors for hiking and biking and there are a ton of activities around Ridgway, Ouray (25 minutes) and Telluride (55 minutes).
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love running up the road back towards the mailboxes. The view of Mount Sneffels when you get the white picket fence is even better than the view from the deck, if that is possible. The hot springs down in town (Orvis Hot Springs) is fantastically landscaped and beautiful--though it is clothing optional. If you prefer clothing required, try the hot springs options in Ouray, just ten minutes farther. The giant pool there is great for the kids and for soaking.
The hiking in and around the Sneffels range, around Ouray and the Cimmarons are terrific. The folks at Ridgway Mountain Sports or Ouray Mountain Sports sell some great hiking books.
In the winter, you can snowshoe up on the county road or snowmobile. And if it is downhill skiing you crave, drive to Telluride or Silverton.
Down at the Ridgway State Park, you can put your boat or jet-ski into the water and have a good time down on the Ridgway Reservoir.
