Casita Mariana.... Private High Desert Adobe Retreat for Two
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:Yes

Casita Mariana is a brightly decorated adobe-styled bungalow five minutes from downtown Kanab. The area surrounding Kanab is gifted with world-class sightseeing. Within an 80-mile drive of Kanab, you can visit the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce National Parks, the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Additional nearby destinations include the Paria/Coyote Buttes Wilderness areas, Pipe Spring National Monument and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.
Explore the remains of the ancient and mysterious Anasazi culture that once thrived throughout this broad area. Or volunteer at Best Friends, an internationally renowned animal sanctuary for every sort of unwanted creature, nestled in beautiful Angel Canyon and only fifteen minutes from your door.
The Casita offers a queen bed and dining area in a studio arrangement. A separate handicap accessible bathroom has an oversized walk-in shower. The cabinetry includes a sink and is supplied with dishes, utensils, cooking supplies and glassware for your favorite beverage. The microwave, grill/toaster and mini frig are located in a convenient closet area, separate from the main room. Or use the outdoor grill for flexibility in cooking. Eat indoors or out, surrounded by the beauty of the Vermilion Cliffs.
The back portico is very private and is perfect for birding in the early morning, sunbathing (or relaxing in the shade!) in the afternoon and stargazing at night. The property is separate from the owner's main home and the two share one fenced acre. Casita Mariana is hidden from the street by a peaceful courtyard in the front and bordered by ranchland behind. Across the street are BLM trails, leading you to miles of hiking.

My husband and I had a fabulous time while staying at the casita. This adorible adobe house is surrounded by beautiful scenery making it a very peaceful place to stay. The casita is very clean and welcoming. It was a great home away from home. The Kanab area has so much to see. We really enjoyed seeing Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Grand Canyon National Parks. Kristy also recommended some great hikes in the area as well. Sadly, one week was not enough time to see it all. We would love to return to the casita again one day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the nice reveiw! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay.

The Casita was a home base for my husband and me while we explored southern Utah's many national parks and natural wonders. It was wonderful. The Casita was comfortable, clean and a good size. We made full use of the kitchen amenities by buying groceries in Kanab and picnicking on the sweet patio every evening. You will be greeted by quails and cows from a nearby ranch in the morning and jack rabbits in the evening. You'll probably see hummingbirds too! Kristi and Brian were perfect hosts, making us feel at home and providing information about the area. I highly recommend staying here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We arrived on April 28 and stayed through May 5th. The weather was warm but not hot, the evenings a bit chilly. Casita Mariana has a beautiful back porch that looks out on grazing land and a beautiful breeze comes out of the canyon keeping bugs away and providing very comfortable temps. For cooler nights, there is a wood-burning style gas stove that adds to the ambience of the Casita Mariana. The house was comfortably appointed, the bed very comfortable. There is an adobe front fence wall that gives complete privacy. The owner was in contact with us many times up until our stay. I felt that we actually developed a bit of a personal aquaintence. Every effort to see that we were comfortable was made. We would definitely like to return some time and do not hestitate to give Casita Mariana and it's owners a BIG double thumbs UP!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Very peacful place and so beautiful. We just felt like we were in" heaven"... Clean and well decorated. We had the pleasure to meet the owner Kristin, she was so friendly and nice to us. We are already planning to go back at the Casita Mariana next year ,if we can wait that long !!! We were volunteering at Best Friends Animals Sanctuary for the whole week and had dogs for sleepovers. The dogs seemed to feel very comfortable at the Casita Mariana... The Casita is very close to Best Friends sanctuary and 2 minutes away from downtown Kanab. It you are looking for a quiet and cosy place, the Casita is the best place there is...Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Casita Mariana. The place was private, quite, comfortable, and exactly as the owners had listed it. It's a wonderful place to come home to after a day of sight seeing and hiking. What a treat it was to relax in the lovely courtyard and spend the night gazing at the night skies and all the stars. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

I stayed for 9 days in this wonderful little dwelling. The location is off the charts spectacular! There is a view of mountains, open land, quail to delight me and my dog all day, and bunny rabbits. The only down side to this place was that it was so peaceful, I had a hard time leaving to do what I came for, "sight seeing"! The Casita is right near town and convenient to all the major parks to explore and how could anyone ask for more when it came time to come back after a day of exploring and hiking? This wound up being better and cheaper than a hotel by all accounts. I thank you folks for sharing your little Kanab Gem!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My Wife and I had a nice stay at Casita Mariana. It was a cold, rainy, (April) eve.and the gas, fireplace and comfortable, spacious bed was cozy and warm. Nice bathroom and simple, cooking amenities round-out this convenient location to town and a quiet neighborhood. The views to the west and the red cliffs and sagebrush give a feeling of privacy and open-space, and the back, portico is nice for enjoying the outdoor, wildlife and birds, etc. It's easy to locate and description was perfect. Photos do it justice, but must see to appreciate. The property is well, landscaped, w/ a privacy (adobe-style) wall/fence in the front. The room is very clean, and has a warm, welcome feel. Owner was very helpful and patient w/ our questions, and We'd definitely recommend it to friends and relatives, and the reasonable price. Favorite, local restaurant was Escobars, (Mexican Food), and Grand Canyon Expeditions is a first-class River Company offering trips in Grand Canyon. We love the close access to Escalante and Paria Wilderness, North Rim of Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyons, as well.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
