My husband, kids & I stayed at Pine Patch for a week in July with my parents and my sister & brother-in-law. The property has a main cabin with two large bedrooms and two smaller cabins, which made it great for our extended families to vacation together. We were able to share meals together, play games, etc, but also able to retreat to our "own" areas when we wanted. The cottages were clean and well-maintained. The linens provided were very nice and the beds were really comfortable. There is a total of one queen and six twin beds, which would also make this a great place for a girls' weekend get-away (overworked mom talking here). There is plenty of parking for several cars. We enjoyed a nightly campfire and the views of the sunset. There is a large dock with two benches and steps going into the lake, which was handy for everyone in our party. There is a stairway down to the dock, which worked well for us as we were traveling with young children and the stairs gave them a clear boundry of where they could not wander unattended. Our kids particularly loved the hammocks and campfires. We also rented a pontoon boat and tube from a local marina and had a blast on the lake. The owner, Chris, was very helpful in answering our questions before and during our stay. I liked the fact that we dealt directly with the owner, rather than a property management company like many other rentals on Lake Leelanau. Other than food and clothes, Pine Patch was well-equiped with most of what we needed during our stay. We brought an extra cooler and regularly replenished it with ice because we had a lot of food and beverages for our large group. We had a minor problem while we were there and the caretaker quickly remedied the situation. Pine Patch is situated close to Leland, Lake Leelanau, Suttons Bay, and various other charming small towns as well as Traverse City and the Sleeping Dunes National Lakeshore. Being there for a week renewed my love of Northern Michigan. If you haven't traveled to Leelanau County, you are missing out on some great wines, art, festivals, and water sports. Pine Patch will offer you a great "home base" to take it all in.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Nothing makes us happier than to learn that another family has truly enjoyed our summer family vacation home. And of course, those who appreciate our lake-front property as much as we do, also tend to take care of the property with the same TLC as we do. Just perfect.

I'm the type that loves woodsy seclusion, as long as there are signs of life nearby... and a golf course. Pine Patch was the perfect fit for us. We'd spend the mornings reading books in the hammock, the afternoons swimming or tubing or water skiing (the private dock was such a cool bonus), and then in the evenings we'd drive or cycle on the bikes we brought into the small town called Leland, which is on Lake Michigan. The family-friendly Bluebird lounge became our favorite watering hole, with delicious pizza, a great beer selection, and a jukebox, pool table, and game room for kids. I also discovered the Leland Country Club, which has a great golf course on the lake. The exterior cabins on the property were ideal for the kids, and overall we were really impressed with how clean everything was, as well as how easy it was to handle the rental details with the owner, Chris. Thanks for a great stay! We hope to be back again in summer 2010.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Stayed here last year and can't wait to get back again this year. Feels like home away from home, with all the things home does not have. Great view to a die for. You feel like the lake is all yours. Cottage is the wrong word for the warm feeling you get from this place. Quiet, peaceful, secluded but with everything you would want for a fun filled week with for the whole family or just a couple wanting to get away from it all. Can’t wait for the sunsets and cherry pie down on the end of the dock. Thanks for the memoriesRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
