'The Great Escape River House' has so much to offer! An incredible vacation, luxury accommodations & memories of which will last a lifetime.
Don't let the price scare you! This is one of the best deal for what you get on the coast. Depending on time of year, most weekly bookings, with 18 or more people, will be cost each person between $23 & $37/pp per night (that is including the rental rate, cleaning fee, & taxes - not the refundable damage deposit). As with most vacation rentals, the rates are higher when less than a week is booked.
This is not a 2000 sq ft house, awkwardly configured for 22 people. This is 4500 sq ft of luxury accommodations! Everyone under the same roof. Staying in separate hotels or condo's is like herding cats with a big group. This house offers sleeping for up to 22 (plus), 4 full bathrooms, 1000 sq ft gourmet kitchen/dining area, 1200 sq ft Great Room, numerous areas for large & small gatherings. There are over 1000 sq ft of covered porches, Private Swimming Pool & Hot Tub. All of this right on Gulfport's main river. It is truly 'The Great Escape River House!'
This home was well thought out for accommodating large overnight groups. There are 12 individual beds, 2 full size convertible sofas, and 2 folding beds. The beds are: 1 king, 5 queens, & 6 full size beds. The 6 full beds are 3 bunk beds, top & bottom full size beds. 14 people could each have their own bed or convertible sofa. For the maximum capacity of 22, we've figured only one person in each of the top bunks, double occupancy in each of the full, queen, and king beds, and only one person on a convertible sofa. The folding beds are not figured in the 22 person count These beds are also not placed awkwardly close to each other. 2 Queen beds & the King size bed each have a private room, 1 bunk has a private room, 2 other bunk beds share a large bedroom, & the massive loft has 3 queen beds & the two convertible sofas.
The 4 full baths are also well distributed. There is even a toilet closet on the covered outside deck, conveniently located near the hot tub and within easy use of anyone leaving the pool area. The loft has a full bath. The 6 full size beds (the 3 bunk beds) are in 2 adjacent bedrooms with their own full bath. The 2 bedrooms off the hall, with queen beds, share the hall full bath. Even the master bedroom's bathroom, which has a private entrance from the master bedroom, also offers a 2nd entrance to the bathroom through the laundry room; Offering more bathing options for large groups.
Driving up, you're welcomed by a circular drive with beautiful fountain in the center. The elevated house, has plenty of covered parking. Up the stairs, the covered front porch offers seating for 8. A cozy place to relax, or for the smokers a comfortable retreat to grab a last puff. Sorry, no smoking inside the house.
The Great Room, has a magnificent 20+ ft granite wet bar, 10 bar stools, double keg cooler, microwave, ice maker, & everything you would need for mixing drinks (blender & glassware). This is just the beginning of the Great Room, which is equipped with many flat screen HD TVs, a pool table, & huge sectional sofa.
The custom made Gourmet kitchen of your dreams awaits! Granite counters that go on for miles, 2 massive islands, every appliance you could want & usually more than one of them are awaiting you in this kitchen. The breakfast bar offers seating for 11. The dining table seating for 8, with an additional folding chairs available. 2 ~ 50' TV's can be seen from just about any location in the kitchen or dining area. The kitchen comes fully equipped - If you need it for cooking, its probably here waiting for you!
The back covered deck is a little peace of heaven, offering an 8 person hot tub, many TV's & a stereo. Great view of the river. Lighted palm trees add a little night time atmosphere. Seating for 12 at 2 Glass tables. Back deck has closing gate to keep little ones on porch & benches for watching river, back yard, & pool.
Down the back stairs, you can enter the enclosed ramp area to the elevated deck that surrounds 15' x 30', 4 1/2' deep above ground swimming pool for a refreshing dip. A charcoal grill with commercial style large stainless steel sink & counter for prep work is available. There are tables, chairs & umbrellas. There's also room to tan. Pool/deck area is enclosed for safety.
Between the house & river is a small dock, perfect for fishing from or docking your boat.
We know you have many choices for a vacation rental. We hope you decide on The Great Escape River House. To help make sure the Great Escape River House is well suited for your plans, please keep in mind, that without prior approval, we:
- limit vehicles to 6
- allow day visitors (people not sleeping over / those not included in your people count), only with prior approval
- minimum age of primary renter needs to be 28 years old
- Restrict usage to Vacations, Golf trips, Spiritual Retreats, Multi-day business meetings, and like gatherings.
- Weddings, Receptions, etc., are rarely permitted, are not eligible for the rates listed on this website, and must be a approved in advance & writting.
We have requests for Large Family reunions (over 22 people), Weddings, or just big family / friends Parties. Most we turn down; but not all. To avoid a lot of back & forth, only to discover we can not accommodate your planned stay, please give as many details as possible. We know the Gulf Coast is limited on facilities to accommodate these type of functions (weddings, pool parities, receptions, etc.) & we consider any reasonable request.
Should your group be 12 or less or even more than 22, please consider renting our brand new Vacation rental, the 'River Lookout.'. While it is not right next door, it is in the same neighborhood and within easy walking distance of the Great Escape. 'River Lookout' has 4 bedrooms/ 2 baths, sleeping up to 12. If your group is larger than 22, you're looking for separate beds, or looking to accommodate 12 or less, please inquire about the 'River Lookout.'

Myself and 8 high school friends stayed for a long weekend at the "River House", the house is beautiful, more beautiful than the pictures, we had a fantastic time, very spacious and accommodating, it rained alittle but we still had a few good days, great place & a great time was had, we will go back :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This house is an extremely upscale house for the money. We had 8 in our group and it was affordable, quaint and screne for our golf trip in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. The kitchen is huge and well equipped for what you need. There are enough beds for both small and large groups to feel comfortable. The outdoor space provided fishing, swimming, hot tub and tailgating games. The indoor space has a very nice pool table, theater style movie set up and TV's all over the place. You aer 25 mins from the airport, 25 minutes from the casinos and an hour and 10 minutes from New Orleans. The casino golf courses were nice and so was the Oaks golf course. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this house to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I really cannot complain about one thing. This place was awesome and our church group had a really good time. We had such a good time that the students requested to go back this year on our spring retreat. So we are booking it again! We had a great stay here! The house was better than the pictures! Very clean and well maintained. The owners even had a keg of beer waiting for us upon arrival! We will definitely return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The best rental home in North America. Our golf group has rented homes in Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and Riviera Maya, Mexico and this by far was the best rental home of them all. So many amenities to mention and the pics on the web-site don't due it justice. We have been telling everyone about our trip and the story always starts off with,"you should have seen this house"!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My buddies and I stayed at this house for our annual golf trip. We originally had 12 guys, which was chopped down to 7 due to babies being born and nagging wives, etc! There are like 5000 beds in this place and I could have slept in a different one each of the four nights we were there. All of the amenities in this place are top notch and if your group of guys can think of something this place is missing, you're a better man than I. We were roughly a half hour away from the 4 different courses we played (90 minutes from Magnolia Grove in Mobile). The only negative I can think of was we were like a $40 cab ride from the casinos in Biloxi, but between 7 guys it's really not bad considering! All in all, the place was perfect, including the guys sitting in the hot tub watching the Sunday Night NFL game. What a great time my family had at the Great Escape River House! Patricia and Grady worked their bottoms off getting the house ready for our stay which was less then a week after hurricane Isaac. The house looked exactly like the pictures, but you won't believe how big it is until you see it! Unfortuantely because of Isaac beaches and Ship Island were closed. We still were able to enjoy the local casinos, deep sea fishing and visited the dolphins at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport. Although, we really didn't need to leave the house, plenty to do there! If you have military (retired or active) with you, we suggest taking advantage of what Keesler AFB has to offer. Hope to return again next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

I really try to investigate a vacation rental. patricia (owner) was very very helpful and great with all my questions. The Children (ages 4-17) really wanted to stay on the beach but with so many of us it was impossible to fine one place. On the second day my 13 year old son walked up to me and said Mom I'm glad we stayed here and not on the beach!! Than was worth it all!!! During our stay we never left the house other than 1 day we went to ship island! That was all the kids needed and they were ready to come back to the house! Great for large families and it is absolutely home away from home! I would highly recommend staying here!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The house and property was beautiful, spacious, and functional. The kitchen was fully stocked with any type of cookware you may need. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks to work at the same time. There was plenty to keep the 8 children occupied. They were either swimming, walking the trails by the river, playing pool, playing x-box in the media room or dancing to the stereo. The adults enjoyed the spacious balcony with its cool breezes, beautiful view and in the evenings the hot tub. The house was only a short distance from Gulfport and Biloxi. We took the Ferry Boat to Ship Island and its beautiful beach. The sand is white and the water is clear. The children enjoyed watching the sting rays swim around and all the hermit crabs. Some of the adults enjoyed a night out at The Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi. We did some great fishing with Bay Charter Fishing and caught our limit of White Trout. The children and men enjoyed the trip to the Alligator Farm in Pasacoula. They were able to hold a baby gator and ride an air boat through the swamps. We have great memories of our trip to Gulfport and the Great Escape River House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

About the owner: Since we were both 25 years old, we've owned rental property; sharing a love for real estate. Early on, we also became involved with a wonderful franchise, Fantastic Sams. After more than 20 years with FS, a few months ago, one of our Manager's purchased our 4 salon chain. This freed us up to enjoy some well deserved travel time. For years, we thought of doing a vacation rental. We liked the idea of sharing our piece of paradise on the River. From our past knowledge of the Vacation Rental Industry, we knew that the vast majority of prospective renters would be people, like ourselves, wanting more than a hotel could offer & respectful of the Vacation Home they rented. Since we wanted to travel, we thought it best to trust a Vacation Property Mgr. We bought a motor home & jeep, hired the Property Manager, & headed off for a 6 month vacation. What a Mistake the Property Mgr was! We were back in 6 weeks & now managing the Great Escape River House ourselves, as so many other vrbos. Its true, no one takes care of your property or your guests, as an involved owner will. Being from the service industry, we pride ourselves on offering a very clean, comfortable, as advertised, Vacation Rental. We advertise an exceptional house & strive to deliver an exceptional resort style experience. We are really down to earth, blue-collar, roll up the sleeves & 'er done types. I mention this, because our Ex-property mgr did no screening & had virtually no rental agreement. Ours maybe more detailed than most; its based mostly on the 6 weeks we were gone. We solicit our guests for suggestions on what we can do to improve their stay in the future. So far, we've implemented every suggestion, that didn't present a liability issue. Why the Owner Chose Gulfport:
Initially I didn't choose to buy a vacation rental. My family had owned the camp style house next to this house since 1996, and when the neighbor decided to sell his home, in 2005, I jumped at the chance to move permanently to the Gulfport area. Since I've sold my Fantastic Sams Salons in the Gretna, LA, area, I've decided I want to travel. I've purchased a motor home and can't wait to see this great country. I have enjoyed having many get togethers with family & friends at this house and its perfect for large groups. I hated to just lock the doors and think no one would be able to enjoy this wonderful home. So I'm opening my home to travelers (like myself); who long for great times, with those whose company they enjoy in awesome surroundings. I can't imagine anyone coming here, with a dozen or more of their favorite people and not having the absolutely most fantastic vacation of their lifetime.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Great Escape River House is unlike anything you can rent on the Coast; maybe anywhere! While located in the Gulfport city limits, you'll feel like you are miles from outside intrusions. The house is extremely spacious & has so many different areas for people to gather or to find a quiet nook. Early risers can enjoy watching the sun rise over the river, sipping their coffee. Some locals enjoy walking or jogging in the neighborhood. The house is on a 'No Outlet' road so vehicle traffic is very light. Because our family owns the adjacent properties; with a signed release, you'll be able to use the docks there, and enjoy the solitude of the concrete path through the small woods.
While the house's pool is above ground, the surrounding deck makes for easy entry & exit. The house is just off the new 605, so its a quick trip to I-10 or straight south to Hwy. 90; minutes away from Casinos, beaches and other local attractions.
As for interior amenities, You'd be hard pressed to find a local bar as well set up as our home bar. The kitchen is massive. Everyone can have a hand in this kitchen & not be in the way. The house is beautifully furnished with all new bedding & linens. Most of the mattresses & furniture are new.
Either a few days, a week, or Snowbirds in for the Winter, this house is a perfect for a large group get away or Snowbirds who travel with a flock and want room to spread out will find it here!
The Great Escape River House has something for everyone, from the Hot Tub, to the swimming pool, beach, path through the woods, gourmet kitchen, wet bar, pool table, etc.; did I mention there is a Home generator to part of the house should the power go out? 4500 square feet of accommodations inside, so much outside! Its waiting for you and your group to enjoy.
