Large, bright, Victorian townhouse set on banks of the River Liffey with beautiful views of James Joyce Bridge in heart of historical Chapelizod Village, and nestled on doorstep of world famous Pheonix Park. (Largest enclosed park in Europe with wild Fallow Deer, also houses Dublin Zoo).
Direct 15 min drive from Dublin Airport. Access to City Centre via numerous bus routes which pass through village, or take the scenic walk along the Liffey, through many Joycean landmarks (40 mins walk) to Guinness Brewery and Storehouse. Take in visits to National Museum of Ireland and National Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham (30 mins walk).
Or relax in the historical, Victorian Mullingar House, made famous in Joyce’s Ulysses and enjoy a typical, heavenly Dublin afternoon with locals and a fresh pint of Guinness.
2 exclusive reserved parking bays adjacent to side entrance of house. Easy access to M50 arterial route to many of South County Dublin tourist attractions – Glendalough, Dublin Mountains, seafront towns of Bray and Greystones (50 mins drive).
Chapelizod is a small, quiet village nestled in the Liffey Valley, it is bypassed by a motorway on one side and bordered by the Phoenix Park on the other. It has unique access to the green belt that is the Liffey Valley and the famous "Strawberry Beds" which feature one of Dublin’s finest fish restaurants – the Angler’s Rest (15 mins walk) and also 3 world class Golf Courses – Castleknock Hotel and Golf Club, Luttrelstown Castle Golf Club and Hermitage Golf Club (10 mins drive)
Chapelizod is proud of being the first settlement upriver of Dublin City, which was established in 988AD. It is more in keeping with quiet country life than the bustle of Dublin City life, yet its close proximity gives it its unique ambience.
Enter our house, the first of a red-brick, Victorian terrace of 11 houses (built by Lord Clayton, for his officers in 1899) from the imposing granite steps and arched porchway to the grand hallway on the ground floor. From here, restored, authentic period livingrooms lead into a conservatory and sun-trapped courtyard garden, via French doors. Vintage cast-iron garden furniture is found here, to come home to after a day’s sight-seeing. Relax with a glass of wine in the evenings, or have a luxurious soak in the spectacularly and lovingly renovated loft, in our free-standing cast-iron bath retreat (of spa standard).
A country kitchen is located at end of grand hallway, with artisan-crafted oak kitchen table, traditional Irish dresser, hand-made by owner’s father and standard kitchen amenities – fridge-freezer, cooker, dishwasher, microwave, washing-machine, drier and WC.
Our period staircase leads to the mezzanine floor, where the first bedroom (queen) is found. The first floor houses 3 more bedrooms, 1 king-size with ensuite & shower, one double-twin, and one with twin bunks.
A further mezzanine level with bijou office leads to loft conversion with bath / shower / WC.

We rented this 3 story home for a week about an 8 minute busride from the house(The River Liffey across the street) into central Dublin. A very comfortable house with a double living room on the first floor with a big screen TV ( which we enjoyed at night after rigorous tourism!) white furniture with lots of pillows. Kitchen very nice with all appliances( Owners left us a lovely basket of fruit, bread and milk...very thoughtful) . We each had our own bedroom with one to spare. Unsually the bathroom (main) was at the top of 3 storied hosue, but a big bath. Another very tiny bath on the 2nd floor...We had a wonderful time!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: It was lovely to meet you. So glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope you enjoyed Nando's!

Our family of four spent four wonderful days in this well appointed home. With two teenage daughters, it was great to have the extra space. Beautiful family home in a great neighborhood that gave us Americans a chance to really live like locals. The owner Peter was a pleasure to work with, VERY responsive, and prompt with return of deposit check. We hope you have the chance to stay in this wonderful home as it was the PERFECT place to end of 15 day holiday in Scotland & Ireland. Cheers!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: It was wonderful to meet you and your family and to enjoy a pint together in the village. We even managed to synchronize with an Irish Olympic Medal win! Safe travels in the future.

Tucked in the village yet a short bus ride away from Dublin City Centre, this location provided our family of six the ideal retreat as we spent the week exploring the rich history and varied culture of Dublin and the surrounding area. This residence provided old world charm with all al of todays conveniences. The three levels provided lots of room for privacy, while also having open areas courtyard, sunroom etc. where everyone could gather. No matter what part of the ciy we were trying to get to the public transportation from the house what reliable and timely. The host family provided that trademark irish hospitality and were attentive to our particular needs. They provided clean comfortable ammenities which freed us to explore the museum, parks, historic sites with peace of mind, knowing we would be returning home after a long day to comfortable safe surroundings.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Delighted to hear that you enjoyed your (highly organized!) stay. Looking forward to sharing an ice cream next summer at Captain Dusty's.
